Enthusiastic about enthusiasm
This is one of the best books I have ever read on the topic of turning adversity into advantage. I have several of Norman Vincent Peale's books and loved them all - but this one beats the rest in that it seems to me to be the easiest to put into practice. There are several real-life examples of success and lots of different ways of going about it. Basically - be enthusiastic about life, youself, and, of course, God. One of the good things about this book is that God doesn't come into it from the beginning, meaning that those who have no faith are hooked by the ideas for improving their lives before they get chance to be put off by ideas of 'the God squad' I have combed England to get hold of another copy. - The original one I read was published in UK in 1991 and is now out of print - I am more delighted than I can say to find it here - I have lots of people of my acquaintance to whom I intend to give it. I must be impressed to want to buy it just to give it away!

The Positive Principle Keeps Going On and On Today and Alway
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale is author of 46 books including his bestseller 'The Power of Positive Thinking.' Most all the other books are practically on this subject. Why he's so compelled into this practice is his purpose to tell others of God's Awesome Power comes from every good thought. That's the power of miracles. In the 12 specific ways to keep the Positive Principle going, Dr. Peale shows you how to sustain and hold onto that power. By using the Positive Principle it all start with the seven (7) magic words...Remember...Don't be afraid, just remember these seven (7) magic words-"I can do all things through Christ...." Believe in the miracle of change, and let Jesus take charge of your own mind and heart.

Dr. Peale also takes a new look at the word imPOSSIBLE without the IM attached. He relates of others the way they apporached the Positive Principle to reshape their lives. These people became the living miracles of God's Principle. Among those who succeed were Claude Bristol, author of 'The Magic of Believing,' Legson Kayira overcame obstacles over 3000 miles from one continent to another and wrote 'The Looming Shadow.' And the great salesman, Zig Ziglar, author of 'See You At The Top.' These men overcame the odds and came out on top of their greatest challenge. It's no secret to those who believe...do you? Just have faith...nothing shall be impossible to you. Hold onto the thought that nothing can get you down. Always think up! Put your problems into God's Hands and leave them there. He will take care of you and bring things out right. Love cancels out gloomy, negative thoughts. Inspiration and Motivation are like nutrition. You need it everyday. Just a simple prayer has the power you need. Just Believe. Believe God will always make a way where there is no way. Don't ever give up. Keep on trying. You can cope with anything, God will see you through anything, so stay close to Him. Always Believe you can. Remember Thomas Edison's words, "If we did all the things we are capable of doing we would literally astonish ourselves." The power of Faith overcomes difficulties. All it takes is the grain of a mustard seed. Seek until you get a certainty of The Presence. A Great Someone is with you always. You're Never alone. Stay in Positive Thinking then miracles will start happening. Keep on going strong. Dr. Peale wants to hear from his readers so write him at c/o Foundation for Christian Living, Pawling, N.Y. 12564.

Good material, mediocre presentation..needs a rewrite.
Vincent Peale has written some 42 books...and his message is good. But given this book was first written in the 1970's, it is sometimes difficult to digest. What is said in 320 pages could have been said in 30 (quite wordy), the examples are far outdated (see below) and far too much attention is paid to supressing your emotions (therapists will tell you this is not good, feelings have to be dealt with). Example: Peale upholds Henry Ford as a shining beacon of a good person....Henry Ford was a great business leader but he was also a strong anit-semantic and was against employing people of color. The reader should also beware that Peale is a Christian minister.

The book could use a re-write.

The overall message however is still valuable today..Peale was one of the first to point out the Mind-Body connection and the Self-Prophesy theory..what you expect is what you get. You dont have to read the whole book to get the point though.

You Can If You Think You Can
Everybody wants to either change or improve something in their life. This is the book that will help you to suceed in doing so.
I have read many of Dr. Peale books. This one especially will drive you to where you want to go in life whether it be to your personality, that little push toward a degree, you name it, it'll take you there. My advise "read, apply, and GO!!!

One of three must read books
In 1990, this was just one of three great books that turned my life from a tradgedy to success. Back in 1990, I had a huge business that came crashing down. I was jobless and pennyless. Dr Peale's excellent book and a book that I had read many years before turned my life around. Within weeks, I had found a brand new opportunity and within months my income was at a all time personal high. The other two books? They were "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill and More Wealth without Risk" by Charles Givens. I obviously highly endorse all three. The priciples work. Please don't make the same mistake I did--read it and pack it away! Read the books, take good notes, apply and reread at once a year. It's very true that what you don't use, you'll lose. I know it happened to me.

Your heart and life will be touched like never before...
The scores of short stories contained within this emotion-impacting book span a wide range of life-affecting topics that include love (15 stories), giving (11), parents and parenting (15), faith (12), levity (11), overcoming obstacles (11), perspective (11), and death and dying (15). The carefully selected stories (from thousands submitted) provide insight into the person God has called us to be, the actions God expects us to take, and the faith and attitude God expects us to adopt and profess. Scattered between the selections are both comics and thought-provoking quotations relevant to the section that they appear in.

Contributions for this outstanding 375+ page work were supplied by individuals such as the late Norman Vincent Peale, Corrie ten Boom, Dick Van Patten, Charles W. Colsen, Gary Smalley, Joan Wester Anderson, and Dick Van Dyke.

All stories are presented in a very readable level in which the reader can relate to the themes discussed and are short enough that single stories can be read in a session and then pondered. Your life will be more spiritually fulfilling and be more positive upon completion of reading this book if you take these stories to heart.

Do yourself a favor... A MUST read!

Chicken Soup proves its ability to enrich one's life.
Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul paints a beautiful picture of true Christian love. The book does exactly as the title implies: warms the heart and rekindles the soul. The stories are very touching and moving, and they are all the more remarkable because they are true. Chicken Soup leaves the reader feeling very loving towards others and wanting to follow many actions of the people in the book. Chicken Soup's many themes include love, friendship, and devotion. Most of the stories in the book are based on one of these ideas. Often the stories show how love and friendship impacted or changed the author's life. People come to value these things much more when they have really been involved with the feelings of love and friendship. Chicken Soup makes a point to impress these values on the reader. The stories in Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul are all drawn from personal experience or the experience of a friend. This makes them seem quite real to the reader and leaves a very lasting impression. Many of the stories in the book question the power of Christ in one's life. Every time, His power holds true. Other times, the stories of devotion show just how rewarding love can be. These two things really give the reader something to think about. Also, the reader doesn't take so many things for granted. The Chicken Soup stories have all been very well written. They are worded in a way so as to touch the reader with everything they say. The book argues and defends its title very well and answers all questions posed in any of the stories. Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul proves to be very accessible to just about any reader of reasonable age, although the book probably has a more lasting impression on Christians. But, being a Christian isn't necessary to understand and enjoy the book. The point of view varies throughout the book, which makes it a little more interesting to read. The strengths of the Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul include the wonderful Christian-like themes it addresses throughout the book. Also, the book's ability to leave a lasting impression and make the reader truly grateful is definitely very important. As for weaknesses, none were noticeable. This book really contributes to the reader's understanding of life in general and how a little love and caring can go a long way. Reading Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul would definitely be a positive influence on just about anyone. The book proves its capability to cheer someone up when the soul feels blue. This is a wonderful book that plenty of people would enjoy, should they take the time to understand the feelings of the authors. Chicken Soup can certainly change the way one looks at themselves and others and make the quality of life much richer.

Very inspirational
I have not yet completed this book, but I am in the process of finishing it now. So far it is very motivational. The chapter on Faith has got some real meaningful messeges. I recommend that anyone who needs some words of wisdom should open this book. It is definately worth the time and worth the money. I am only 20 years old and have read a lot of books, but this one is literally too hard to put down. When I put it down after reading a story I feel like being the best of God's people. God's work is really involved in these stories, and in putting them together so that we can enjoy them and learn about some wonderful workings of God.

Ethical issues pondered and pontificated on.....
I have always been a fan of Mr.Peale's books so when my college professor assigned this book as mandatory reading, I was delighted. I enjoyed the use of parables to talk about ethical issues. Each story made you think about ethics and how/when to apply them. I do not know about Mr.Blanchard's writings but I think he focused on the business aspects of ethical dilemmas. The 2 authors make a good team and wrote a very informational book. There are lots of great sayings as well as principles about ethics. An enjoyable read as well as a thought-provoking little book.

Ken Blanchard has done it again!
Simply one of the best (if not THE best), most enjoyable, and most entertaining books on ethics, morality, character, and leadership.

This short and easy to read masterpiece by two of the most influential business and spiritual thinkers of our time should be required reading for all managers and leaders in any organization - business, family, government, military, etc. The stories and situations used to teach the many commonsense (but unfortunately not common practice) lessons are real and recognizable to everyone. The power and wisdom behind the three "Ethics Check" questions and the "Five P's of Ethical Power" for individuals and organizations are priceless.

If you ever wondered why some people and organizations make such a big deal about ethics, read this book and you will wonder why more people and organizations do not make ethics their top priority.

You are not alone
For those who feel alone in a sea of ehtical dilemnas, this book will make you feel like you are in good company and not alone. I have worked hard to earn my way up the ladder, only to be struck down by those who made it by simply getting into the good 'ol boy club.

Ken Blannchard's book is the lighthouse in the fog of unethical practice and behavior. This book sheds light on the real value of ethics and that getting ahead at any cost is not the norm.

Ethics in the workplace is a practical and valiant 'goal', excuse me, 'road' to travel. I was amazed at how this book described my own workplace to a "T". This book inspired me to continue to travel the ethical road I held (and still hold) in high regard.

I have read many of Ken Blanchard's books and he uses the method to teach by using real world scenarios. This particular book reads fast, but the concepts stay with you.

Real People With Real Results!
Here is a book that shows the reader through testimonials what positive thinking can do. If you enjoyed Dr. Peale's "Power of Positive Thinking", you will really love this one.

When you turn the pages and read what affirmative thought and belief in God has done for others you can't help but get charged-up yourself. Stories of famous as well as everyday people fill the pages of this inspiring book. Even more important is the practicality of Dr. Peale's writing-completely devoid of pseudo-intellectual and hard to grasp etheric concepts. This is a book to be read and used, not just to sit on a shelf collecting dust.

I only wish there had been even more inspiring stories in its pages. This book will challenge as well as comfort you and will be an invaluable addition to your library that you will return to often.

The Best Self Help Book
All I can say is that I had tried to read The Power of Positve Thinking several times but never was able to get into it. However after getting out of the Hospital having received a Stem Cell bone marrow transplant, I found myself in desparate need of a mental pick me up. I was simply not able to think positively about life or my health and I was also very weak physically. I found this little paperback on the shelf and took it into the bathroom. Each day I would read a couple of sentences or more. With the type of illness I had, it was very important that I develop and maintain a positive mental outlook in order to harness the "placebo effect" (being healthy because I think I am healthy would be an example). When I started my regimen of reading a little bit each day, I would say I was almost a zero in mental strength. Gradually, I started to get little pieces out of the examples of the book and I started practicing those pieces. I found that just these little steps yielded visible results. Eventually, I finished the book. Then I read it again in the same way. I have made a check list of things to do each day in order to maintain the mental strength I have acquired from reading the book. I am reading it for a 3rd time now. Recently I recommended to a friend to read it and found myself volunteering my original copy of this 1959 little paperback which sold for 60 cents at the time. ... I recommend this book to everyone.

it will inspire you
please send me i need it for my final exam on my personality development subject. thank you

The Power of Positive Thinking
After years of reading self-help type books with just OK results, I discovered The Power of Positive Thinking. This is the most powerful self-help book I've ever read - it's turned my life around! I now have confidence, courage, self-love, great self-esteem, and stress and anxiety no longer run my life, and it's really helped my business!

Of course you can't just read this book, you'll need to take notes and do the exercises on a daily basis. It took me 3 months to work through the book and the benefits have grown steadily. Although it's all about tapping into the power of God to help you, you don't have to be Christian to do that - I'm not. But you do need to be able to connect with God, the Great Spirit, Mother Goddess, the Universal God Force, or whoever. In other words, you do need to accept a higher power, so if you want help but are offended by quotes from the bible and talk of connecting with Christ, get over it. The whole point is that we need God and He/She is ready and willing to help and empower us if we simply ask and believe. It's so easy! I can't say enough good about this book - so buy more than 1 copy, you'll want to give it to your favorite negative friends!

P.S. Peale has written lots more books, and from what I've read, they're all great, but so far I'd say The Power of Positive Thinking is the most important.

The Power of 'Believe in Yourself'
Opening words of Norman Vincent Peale in this book says all "Believe in Yourself & Have faith in your Abilities." Millions of people read the book and its a master piece through ages. Thoughts inflow remake 'You', the very person who is responsible to create his own happiness and this is what Peale explains through various topics. Its time to stop fuming and fretting when things go wrong and break the worry habits. Faith is healing and a the best prescription for heartache is the Physical activity, says Norman. He elaborates the power technique that there is no point to sit and brood instead Get Set Right with action and be constructive. Norman shows the power to solve personal problems with a belief that there is a solution for every problem, keep calm instead of tension blocking the flow of thought power, trust in the faculty of insight and intuition, seek god's guidance and he would flash illumination into the problem mind. It's expecting the Best to Get Best as Positive Thinking is the road to happiness. Norman's book is simly a practical, direct-action, personal improvement manual and written with sole objective to help readers achieve a happy, satisfying and worthwhile life. A must Pick and a must Read Book.

--->*mysterious TRANSITION*<---
I'm one of the ordinary teens that go out & live life in a typical teen perception (e.g. parties, friends, listenining to music, enjoying youth as it is, etc.) I used to be the type of person who typically never found interests with the ''positive thinking'' category (i was cynical at the time). I read this book one day cause it was lying on top my dad's desk, i was hoping to ''kill time'' by glancing at a few pages. Suddenly, i became attached towards Peale's theories and i began reading from page to page and started applying positive concepts into daily situations (even when ''obstacles'' were bound to hold me back) and mysteriously enough my attitude towards life transformed me into an optimist and a devoted believer in God which in turn, gave me successfull results (especially in my academics!). Hey, you have no need to believe me if you choose too, but I strongly affirm this book WILL alter your mind into becoming a believer with ''The Power of Positive Thinking''. If you're a parent with a stressful life style, THEN THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. If you're the hard worker feeling as if you're not getting anywhere, THEN THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. If you're a student feeling ''tripped & zoned out'', THEN THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. All the people i've mentioned illustrates the average person bombarded with everyday problems (trust me, i literally live with them), yet the solution lies in front of your eyes because this book draws out supplies of confidence, faith in your own abilities, positive affirmations, and spiritual guidance in YOUR life...hey, i wouldn't just waste time to make this book review and neither would the rest of these people who placed an entry analysis for this book. "Faith power brings miracles.."
