This book is an excellent overview of the birds of Iowa.
The Iowa Breeding Bird Atlas presents the first detailed state-wide survey results for breeding birds. Detailed species accounts are provided for more than 150 birds known to breed in Iowa. These are accompanied by maps showing the distribution of the birds. Several introductory chapters summarize information about the vegetation, geologic origins, and history of the state. Summary statistics include tables showing the most common species, the most frequently confirmed breeding species, and correlations between species groups and the different landforms. The data in this volume includes key information on both common and rare species. This book is an excellent reference for anyone interested in birds or bird atlases. The species accounts are extremely well-written and informative. I highly recommend this book.

A must for Type VII builders!
A very good book with thorough technical details of the Type VII. If you are one of those who is building a Type VII model, or upgrading a Type VIIB to VIIC, this is a worthwhile purchase. More photos of hull detail would be useful, as there is not one photo showing the stern topedo tube.

A must for submarine model builders
About a 100 good quality of US WWII fleet submarines plus many diagrams and paintings of US subs, armaments, radars and conning tower variations. Good closeup of some of the details that you don't normally get in more conventional submarine books. S-Boats, Argonaut, Narwhal, Dolphin, Cachalot, P-class, Sargo, Tambor, plus the ubiquitous Gato and Balao class boats. If you are a budding fleet submarine model builder you need this book and the Floating Drydocks "Plan Book - Gato & Balao Class Submarines." The only weakness of this book is that it is a little expensive... for a 50 page book.

an appropriately adulatory book
This book is less a biography of these great philanthropists than a catalogue of the generosity they have displayed over the years. It gives ample information about the Greens' early lives, and it has useful appendices detailing the many donations and endowments these remarkable people left behind at MIT, the Colorado School of Mines, Austin College, UBC and so many other places.

This probably of limited interest to an audience not already acquainted with the Greens and their philanthropy. Nevertheless, I am pleased that such a fine account of their lives and fortune is in print.
