why bother?
There is no point to these books. kids that are 5-8 really dont care about sex and the consequences. They wont remember it, and by the time that they start to care, they will most likely be atheists anyway. God has nothing to do with sex. Your creationism ideals are old-fashioned and have no place in modern society. The facts are that the human race was produced from natural selection and survival of the fittest. Kids are going to have sex anyway, no matter how much you preach to them. You shouldn't force your childern into your own religious dogma. If you really need to teach children about sex talk to them yourselves instead of having a lifeless substitute.

Informative at a childs level
My husband and I have two boys under the age of ten and we are facing issues with sex. Our children are hearing about sex from children at school and on the bus. We are a Christian family and want our children to have Christian views on something so important. We bought the whole series and our boys now have all the answers they need from us. Thank you so much for this series.

An Important Topic about an important issue
To the parents who wrote that children ARE NOT thinking about these issues, you are really fooling yourself and in denial. I'm certainly not pleased to be facing this topic with my seven year old, however children are questioning these issues a lot sooner than we ever did.
This book is a good tool to explain to an already inquisitive child.

Above the heads of the little ones
I bought this book as part of a Christian pre-school character education program - this book is included in the "courage" theme. The story is a bit over the head of my pre-school audience, but the illustrations are wonderful.

visually wonderful, true to Scripture
This whole series of four books are about the best I have seen of Bible-based books for children. In Courage, Esther, nice artistic touches include a page reminiscent of Cinderella and her stepsisters primping for the ball, a Persian cat on just about every page once Esther becomes the Persian queen, and vivid, colorful details on every page. From a text standpoint, the storyline is interesting and relatively detailed, yet it does not include extraneous imaginary details like making up names for Esther's deceased parents. These books are a great way to introduce kids to some of the important stories of the Old Testament.

Christian for Life!
This is a must read for all Christians! By studying the Bible together with others, you are bound to grow in God's love. "For wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst."

Friendship Growing side by side
If you are looking to be a better friend or just get closer to the ones that you have then this is a great study. There are many great insights in here on how to have a closer friendship through God.I was amazed that in these 12 studies there were so many points to friendship that we may not pay attention to. At the end of each study is a section called "Going deeper" That really allows you to think about all you have just learned. In the Scripture reference that is given to follow, it really takes you back to the lives of those in it and allows you to think about how we treat are friends and neighbors. In reading the Scriptures that came with each study I found that had I not been doing this study I may have never seen the Scripture that way. I would reccomend this study be it for one or a group. It has great format and very well thought out questions. It will truly make you value the friendships you have by making them closer.

Slowing Down
This book is a really fast read. Bill Hybels kept me turning the pages with new insights and wisdom into spending time with God. It really helped me to refocus, and slow down a busy life in order to spend it with God. I totally recommend this book for people who are interested in prayer, or just busy and needing to slow down their lives

just not enough....
From the time I read Knowing God in the early 80s to the retreat where I was privledged to meet Dr Packer, and through all of his books that I have read, I harbour great respect and affection for the man. So when I saw this book as I was on my way out of town I quickly glanced it through and snatched it up. The title, the snippets, the reviews, all sang that this was the book to give refreshment to my tired, aching spirit.

Unfortunately it didn't deliver. I have heard Dr Packer speak a number of times and each time the "audience" ended up in focussed worship. So it is difficult for me to grasp how these wispy chapters can have been taken from his talks. They are fairly shallow and although he hints at it, he never quite seems to get to the manifestation of God's heart towards those about whom he writes.

In fact I just finished the book 2 days ago and I'd be hard pressed to give even one direct quote or idea from it. The book was more like spiritual cotton candy that just melts in your mouth than chicken noodle soup that warms your stomach and heals your aches.

A very touching devotional book
This book is based on a series of J.I. Packer sermons showing how God has used imperfect people such as Jacob, Samson, Manoah and others. In it's brief, simple and moving way, Packer's words also give the rest of us hope to continue with life's struggles. Easy to read and perfect for end of the day thought and reflection, I recommend it highly.

A little shocking
I purchased this book to be part of a character education program at a Chiristian pre-school. Imagine my surprise when half way through the book the Queen asks Joseph to go to her bed! I know this event was in the biblical original, but for kids it could have been toned down. It will not be included in our progrom - some parents may not choose to face the questions yet.
