To teach the subject.
Sure, there are lots of pretty books on fractals!-- Colorful pictures, and all that! But if you must pick a book, on which an instructor can base a course, then the material must be built up systematically,-- both making connections to fundamental and elementary ideas in analysis;-- and, at the same time, it must reach some high-points in the subject. This lovely little book does that. It shows the student how to easily construct continuous, nowhere differentiable, functions;--it has great exercises, and it gives the student, and the readers, an appreciation of some of the deeper parts of the theory of chaotic dynamical systems.

The Tale of the Lamb and her Gentle Shepherd
The "Miorita" is a heartwarming journey into the Romanian psyche. This story of the little lamb and her gentle Shepherd is one of the four narrative dramas that Romanians memorize in primary school, and then carry with them all of their lives. A true literary treasure! This translation evokes the northern wilds of Romania in vocabulary germane to its location. It conjures up unforgettable images of tender, guileless concern of the Shepherd; surrounded by villainous enemies. The fine black and white photography that serves to illustrate this pastoral folk story is ever-so-carefully wedded to its poetry. Simply a cultural masterpiece!

A great book about accepting yourself
This is one of my favorite's children's books. The artwork is great but the message is better. Maria wakes up one morning and finds that her hair is full of colors. Each day after that her hair is different, full of animals, books and even all kinds of people. She learns that she is all the things in her hair, not just a little girl, but a little girl that is multi-faceted and talented. I love it!

"Spinning tops of Doom"
All incurable Kim Possible fans like myself will love this book! It is esentially the hilarious episode The New Ron written very well and neat. The New Ron is a great episode, Ron's new hair cut makes him cool but Kim thinks it may be a change for the worse. Also the zany Senor Senior Sr and Senor Senior Jr are introduced in this episode, they are such great characters and their background and motives for evil are explained in this storyline.

The story is written very well and accompanied by many photo's from the episode. While the pages are printed in black & white on a standard paper, unlike the gorgeous full color cinemanga KP book, this works well as it is written not comic book and for the price it's an excellent buy. Although I am too old to benefit, I guess this is the type of novel young children could get into to develop an interest in reading and improve their skills.

Overall this is a very fun book and a total steal for the price, also there was a bonus free holographic collectors card inside, so if your interested you should pick up a copy before they stop putting the cards in. I have seen similar if not idenicle cards on ebay for around $10 a set of 4.

Sweet
This book is the seventh in a series based on the Woody's Roundup gang (Woody, Jessie and the Prospector) from Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 2. In this book, when Jessie's Aunt Grace sends word that she is coming out from Snootyville, New York for a visit, the Prospector decides that Jessie needs to "fancy" up to impress her. Unfortunately for Jessie, curtsying and riding sidesaddle are just not something she knows a lot about...

This short book is printed on a heavy grade of paper and contains a copious amount of wonderful, pencil-drawn illustration; both of which conspire to give this book a 1950s feel! The story is quite sweet, and easy to read. Both my eight-year-old son and ten-year-old daughter read this book with me and enjoyed it. We highly recommend this book to you.

Spy Kids Island of Lost Dreams
The protagonist is Carmon and Junie. The conflict is someone postioned the spies. It is about this family who saves the world and the rest of the spies. The best part is the action in the story where they get to be on the case.

Let us all Cha-Cha-Cha!
I got this book for my 23-month-old daughter, who is a huge Bear fan, and she loves it! She brings it to me like six or seven times a day to read it to her! I have to admit that at first I was a little worried about how long the pages would last with her (we sometimes refer to her as "El Destructo" - you should see what she does to board books!), but so far, this book is one of the rare few that she has left intact. Maybe she's trying to tell me that she's a big girl now; no more board books, please. I think it's because she loves the pictures of Bear, Tutter, Ojo, Treelo, Pip, and Pop, and she loves the episode "Dancing the Day Away", which is similar to the story in this book, and she actually enjoys carefully turning the pages herself and "telling" me what is going on in the pictures. Another added bonus is the cool "dancing" picture of Bear on the cover. As with all of the Bear in the Big Blue House books we have, this one has really kept my daughter's attention, too. Maybe in part because we always dance the "Cha-Cha-Cha" at the end (who can resist?).

GREAT Book
I bought this book for my 8 month old son. He loves Bear and all the other characters. Being a hard page book, he's able to hold it himself without tearing the pages. The bright colors attract his attention while I'm reading it to him. As he gets older he'll start to understand the concept of Bear's stories and the meaning of them

A novelty that hasn't worn off
We bought this, assuming it would be a gimicky book that would give our toddler son a lot of pleasure for a short time and then be discarded. The pleasure has turned out to be extended beyond what we thought possible. This little book has quite charming text but hasn't been a read aloud hit with our son. He has been enthralled with the glow in the dark pages, however. We used to just turn them and talk about what he could see. Now that he is almost 2, we no longer "charge" the book. We just turn off the lights and let him loose with the torch. He loves making the "magic pictures" come alive piece by piece with well aimed whisks of his magic torch. It is a lovely activity for winding down before sleep. While our toddler isn't afraid of the dark yet, I can imagine that this book might make the issue of "turning down the lights" a bit more fun and a bit less threatening. A surprising hit!

Great sleepy-time book for Bear in the Big Blue House fans!
We got this book for our 2 1/2 yr. old son to take to bed with him because it glows in the dark. :) We "charge it up" under a table lamp while getting ready for bed time, read it to him & then give it to him to "read" while he is in bed. It's a great book & it's fun to look for the "hidden" things that only appear when they are "glowing in the dark". :) A great gift for any boy or girl.

It's Like Two For the Price of One!
My two-year-old really enjoys this book and other "Bear" books which have that glow-in-the-dark feature. After reading the book to him under regular lit conditions, we stick the pages under a lamp (or use a flashlight) to illuminate them, then shut the lights for him to enjoy it "glow in the dark" style. It's almost like getting two books in one. He's had it for well over a year and seems to enjoy it even more now. I'd recommend this.
