An action-packed book all the way!
This was a well-rounded book. The perfect book for teens battling spiritual warfare. If you are a teen, read this book! I am a teenager myself, so this is from a teens point of view. It is very profound, especially when it comes to Julie dealing with the demon controlling her. But it can be a little intense. I wouldn't recommend this book to kids under 12. If you like horror books, but can't get your hands on them heathen horror stories, pick up the whole Forbidden Doors series today!

WOW!
This book is absolutley great. It works on so many levels... and all the while staying true to its Christian roots. I remember reading this book in 6th grade (I am a Sophmore now) and not being able to put it down. It just grabs you and pulls you into this deep and compeling story. Everything works so well because it is coming from a Christian point of view and it makes you see God's power through the characters. It also is a very chilling book, and doesn't let a horror fan down. While the content actually can get very morbid at times (alot of talk of death and the after life, plus a girl floating above her bed ala Exorcist). It scared me in 6th grade and I was already a vey big horror fan, and I rarely got scared by a book. If you are a Christian (or interested in Christianity) pick this book up. It shows that you can be way out there and still be a Christian.

It is a very good book.
I think that anyone with teenagers in the family should read this series. My mother didn't want to read it, but after the first book, she wants to read the series.

Reveals the TRUTH about ghosts, very exciting & interesting
This exciting book is about a group of teenage friends who explore a Haunted Mansion, and uncover the truth behind the ghost. They still find the ghost to be a spirit, but not exactly as they expected. By faith and determination, they must overcome the deception and evil that truly lurks in the house. Trully a non-stop page turner!

The Haunting
I LOVED this book!!! It does get pretty scary near the end but knowing that with God we can triumph over any demons helps. And the situations The Williams' find themselves in with demons are exxagerating to crate suspense and drama. I recommend all the Forbidden Doors books! The Haunting and The Gaurdian were my favorites.

A great book!!!!
It an extremely good book. Though i wouldn't let someone who get scared easy read it. It gets kinda scary at the end. It has to be on of the best in the series

Hollywood meets Wally!
I liked this book because it uses much humor and teaches a valuabe lesson like all the "Wally McDoogle" books. In "Alien Monster Bait," Wally learns about pride and treating others more special than some people. My favorite part was when Wally got cut out of the film and Opera screamed longer than him. This is a great book- I recommend it for anyone with a sense of humor.

Alien Monster Bait:Two Thumbs Up!
I've read several books in this series, including this one.Wally McDoogle,a 12-year-old "Living Disaster Area" who writes superhero stories with the help of his laptop,Betsy,is best friends with Wall Street, who wants to make 1,000,000 dollars by the time she's 14,and Opera, who loves junk food and classical music. Each book is humorous, yet also teaches a lesson from the Bible. For me,that's rather versatile. In this book,Wally stars in a new movie. His popularity leads him to get the attention of Melissa Avarice, the prettiest, most popular girl in school, yet also leads him to forsake Opera.During a sermon,he realizes that he's not right in leaving his friend alone.Opera is raising fleas as a science project and comes-with the fleas-to see the film being taped. He screams and then is grabbed by "Gertrude",the monster. He ends up starring instead of Wally.I really enjoy all of these books.I'm trying to read them all.

Very Funny!
Wally gets a movie role in a Hollywood film and neglects his real friends. A hilatious story about pride.

This book was funny, exciting and I loved the ending.
I like Wally because he gets in trouble alot but always thinks about God. (Like me!) This adventure teaches him about missionaries and how they live. I am 12 years old like Wally.

VERRY FUNNY
My Life as Crocodile Junk Food (by Bill Myers) is a truly hilarious book. I really like his superhero stories. Wally travels to a South American rain forest and makes some new friends. I especially like the part where he meets George the savage. It's another mishap for Wally-if-it-can-break-crash-or-blow-up-it-will-Mcdoogle. If you haven't read it, I suggest you do.

This is a personal opinion.
I think that this book is a good book. It is great for children between 9 and 12, but excellent as well for anyone who wants to read a fun book.

Hang On For Fun!
The Characters are Wally McDoogle, Opra Livingston and Walstreet. They are each a load of fun! Join Wally and his friends in a lesson that jealousy is stupid! This is a fast pace book that makes you feel like you're Wally McDoogle, klutz extrordinaire! My favorite part was when Wally scored the winning point because Opera had helped him. I liked this book and I'm sure you'll like it too!

I don't know what to title this, so never mind.
I think this was the best book in the series that I've read so far. It was more exciting than the other books, even though when Sean knocks the curator over into the knight suits, they wouldn't fall like dominos, as Bill Meyers says. Also, they would be behind glass to protect them. But other than that, it was the best book in the series. --Andy, eleven years old

This book is better than the first one in the series.
This book is so funny. With lots of action. It is also mysterious and spooky. I want to read it a millon times.

what happened???????
forbidden doors just isnt what it used to be. when i read the gaurdian a year ago i thought it was so cool, but now its changed drastically. the curse wasnt suspenceful or scary. the characters come across as wooden and dont act like normal teenagers.not to mention, the climax was entirely copied off the gaurdian!
im an advanced reader and i was very disappointed with this book. i used to love reading about ryan and becca and their adventures. but this book reminded me of the goosebumps books i used to like. if you like real thrillers, stay away from this book.

Awesome!...
This is the coolest book!... I love it. It really honors God and it teached you about things that happen every day. Things that you might not think could ever happen to you, but they could. This is a great book if you are a teen or a pre-teen. I'm 13, and I think that this series rules!...

Bill Myers is one of the best authors in the world
I am 10 years old and Bill Myers is really good. I recemend Forbidden Doors to any advanced reader or any teenager who likes books.

The Last Word on Blood of Heaven
Well now, let me say that this was an excellent book but of course, it's not for everyone... I'll start off with the negative comments first. If you are looking for a book with tons of spiritual depth and truth, you'll read this book and probally scream, "HERESY!" It was extremely far-fetched as far as Christianity goes. I go as far to say that it was pretty secular. Therefore, if you're the type of person who would get offended at a little symbolism and scientific views, just think to yourself, "It's only fiction." In spite of the above written, I absolutely loved the book. It was one of those books that rarely ever had a dry moment. I could not put the book down. There is a lot of scientific "stuff" in there but they explain it to where it's easy to understand. I applaud the way the Myers wrote three different plots then intertwined them. So what else can I say? The book was completely clean. You could read it without having to worry about language or adult themes. It wasn't offensive, but I'm sure that someone out there would think of it as too extreme and write bitter letters to Bill Myers. If I had to sum up the book in one sentence, I would say that is action packed, science based book with a Christian flavor in it. This my friends, is what you call a review from a college student that is having a hard time putting it into words. Oh well, better luck next review. :)

WOW, This Guy Can Write!
Ever since my bout with a serious illness I've had a constant passion for "Christian Fiction" based novels. I am constantly amazed at how many different concepts writers can devise based on the life of Christ. This book is by far the most entertaining "Christian Fiction" novel I have read to date, and you certainly do not need to be a Christian to enjoy it. This book is in a class by itself. It is the first book I have ever read through in one sitting - it really keeps you on the edge of your seat! The characters in this book are so real they come to life before your very eyes. Absolutely superb writing and well researched. Thanks Bill for the GREAT READ!

Characterization of Heaven
I wanted to review this book because it is probably my favorite Christian book. I am a Christian, but I read almost a hundred percent secular books because most of the Christian stuff just isn't good enough, but this book is another one of the huge exceptions. Don't let the other reviews confuse you. This is not really that much about Jesus' blood, but about inner conflict. I don't want to spoil the story line so I will leave it at that. The highest point of this book is Characterization. The characters felt so real I it was like they were really alive, and I was watching their drama. This is an excellent book. I would recommend it even if you are of the secular audience.

I Did Not Reach Threshold
After reading Blood Of Heaven I was quite eager to read Threshold. Blood of Heaven was a book that I could not put down. I cared a great deal about the characters and the storyline was extremely captivating. I was so eager to find out what was going to happen next. I read the book in 3-4 days. Well with Threhold I was majorly disappointed. The storyline was interesting, however I really did not like where he took the premise. The story was not as focused as Blood of Heaven, Myers seemed unsure of what he really wanted to do with this book. Some of the characters were interesting, however many of them really did not interest me. Most of the secondary characters were not developed at all, they were just there. Thier backgrounds and motivations were really not developed. The main character of Brandon was somewhat interesting, however he seemed like a weak character to base a book around, Sarah was a far more interesting. My biggest problem with the book was trying to visualize many of Brandon's visions, they become more outlandish and outright silly as the book went on. Brandon's final confrontation at the end did absolutely nothing for me, I could not take it seriously at all. Years ago when I used to read Stephen King he was able to make just about anything believable, no matter how bizarre and out there it may have been. That most definately was not the case with Threshold. Overall I found parts of the book enjoyable. I did like the resolution and the development of Brandon's abilities. This book really did not grab me. I have just started Fire of Heaven, I do hope I am not disappointed with that one.

A technically accurate and well researched alagory
Having been a scientist nearly all of my professional life I found Threshold to be both technically and theoretically accurate. As well as an immaculately researched work it contains a deeply spiritual allegory--for those who care to think beyond the surface.

Having read the previous reviews I could not help but be astonished at the shallowness of one which rated the book with one star, commenting on its lack of substantive content. That reviewer said, for example, "...the attempts to tie theology to paranormal research were simply bizarre." This type of thinking would have undoubtedly labeled John Bunyon's Pilgrim's Progress as the product of a theologically overactive immagination and worthless for its lack of reality. Alegorical thinking, of course, is not for every mind, but is indespensible as a vehicle for conveying the deeper truths of the spirit, which Threshold does without sacrificing the entertainment value of the book. If that is the type of writing Mr. Myers incorporates into his children's books perhaps some of us more "simpleminded" readers who are "avid fan[s] of the Book of Revelation," as the other reviewer terms it, would do well to read Myers' books for children also.

By the way, is there something wrong with being "and avid fan of the Book of Revelation"?

Test the Waters, Take the Plunge!
I picked this one up at the used bookstore and hoped I wasn't purchasing someone else's junk. The premise was intriguing--though a bit misleading on the front jacket statement--and the layout looked good, but I'm often disappointed by Christian fiction. (I keep trying to like it...I really do.)

Okay, this time I wasn't disappointed. I read the first two chapters, testing the waters like a wary swimmer, and next thing I knew, I'd summoned the courage to dive in. Two days later, I surfaced with this treasure clutched firmly in hand and a smile on my face.

Myers built his characters with adequate depth and added enough details regarding paranormal research for me to suspend disbelief. I appreciated his balanced, yet insightful, views of demonic activity and found myself whipping through the pages. The ending left room for a sequel while still wrapping up most of the loose ends, and Myers didn't shy away from showing that spiritual battle does have casualties--on both sides.

Why not five stars?

Though fast-paced and credible, Myers doesn't write with quite the tightness and craft of Peretti or the Thoenes. A number of times he stumbled over point-of-view problems, though not to the point of confusing the story. It was merely a distraction. One an editor could've easily cleaned up.

Myers comes up with some great premises and manages to fill them with practical and allegorical insight. His writing seems to be maturing, and I'll be hunting down his next books with unabashed anticipation.

Next time, I'll dive in without hesitation.

My Life as a Walrus Whoopee Cushion
My Life as a Walrus Whoopee Cushion
By: Bill Myers

The comedy/novel, My Life as a Walrus Whoopee Cushion, is about a klutzy kid named Wally who messes up everything. Wally and his two friends, Opera and Wall Street, buy a Lotto ticket that is worth 2.1 gazillion dollars. Through a series of misfortunes, they learn their lesson.
One of my favorite Characters in this book is Opera. He is very dumb, and will do anything for potato chips and classical music; henceforth, the name, Opera. This book teaches that greed can ruin lives. What I like best about the book is how the writer grabs you with things you can relate to. The ending of this book is satisfying and realistic.
Bill Myers' style of writing keeps you engrossed in the book. There are so many funny jokes and things about life you can relate to, you can't put the book down. Bill gives the exact right amount of details, and the vocabulary is intermediate. This book would appeal to 8-13 year-olds because it is easy and fun. I recommend this book for it's hilarious content, and great theme.
I give this book four stars.

A wonderful book!
This book, just like any other Wally McDoogle book was wondeful. It used much humor and shows an important moral about greed. The Wally McDoogle books are geared toward twelve and thirteen year- olds, like myself. Any kid would enjoy it!
