As a pop-up collector I look forward to any pop-up Sabuda creates and am always amazed at his continued engineering and artistic masterpieces. This creation is so fantastic you almost wander where the battery is. This book brings out the child like wonder, and is definitely my favorite wrapped gift for this year. Thanks...!!!

this is perhaps the greatest single visual dialetical version of this tale i've ever come across. From the very inception, the moribund gratutity of earlier versions is swept to the wayside, and we are plunged into a creative dialogue/diaspora of this oft quoted chestnut. What really rings true is the unheralded rigors of crossing over into a pop up style book. This story could have really been left out in the hamper with the dirty diapers, and the like, but no, this is a hegemony that works its way into your psyche like no other christmas pop up book. What really rings true, is the authors process of dilating the images with the words that propel the storyline. It becomes a sort of menagarie of information that builds and builds, and yet instead of crescendo and anticlimax, we are left with a beautifully told tale that reinvents itself once and again with each re reading. I think the readers of this book will welcome the authors intrepid unveiling of what chistmas realyl can be, unfettered by the holiday shmooze and glimmery clap traps so often profferred to us all in malls and shopping centers throughout the world. This book, takes back our christmas and lashes out against the greed empires that have tossed off the true taste of love of family from the holiday and glazed it over with schnapps, malt liquor and mentholated cigarettes that can't even spell cool correctly. Viva la Revolucion!!!!!!

Christian Birmingham's illustrations create the pictures of the story that we all have in our heads...but alas, cannot paint ourselves.

My son constantly wants me to read this book to him. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is a classic. I'm sure this book will become a family heirloom.

This artist's pencilwork is stunning! If you don't have a version of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," make sure this is the one you buy. The pencil drawings are absolutely luminous and bring a new element to the story. Even if you have several versions of this classic story, this version is a must have!

I am a third-grade teacher, and I loved this story. The chaos that is portrayed on the pages of this delightful picture book is so true regarding what it is like the last few days before Christmas vacation. I especially loved reading about the room mom commandos and the yearly Christmas pageant. I have bought this book as a gift for several of my colleagues who have also thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had the pleasure of receiving this book as a gift from not one but two different students ... I read it aloud and fell in love with it. The author is a teacher (no surprise), and I ... met him at a conference! He couldn't have been nicer. I have every intention of giving this book as a gift to my own children's teachers ... If you work in an elementary school or know someone who does, this book is a find. Best of all, the kids think it's hysterical!

Clever illustrations and a humorous storyline make this a must- read Christmas picture book for both children and adults. I am a first-grade teacher, and this book is the story of my life. I read this book to my students, and they could not wait to see what funny incident happened next. They have also asked me to read it to them over and over again. I highly recommend this title.

These 3-D things really irked me until I finally got it. I don't have a clue as to how it works but all of a sudden I saw a snowman on the bookcover! Nice stocking stuffer kind of book.

My daughter loves the, "...'Twas the night before Christmas..." poem. We pass the book around so everyone can see the 3-D pictures (which drives my husband crazy!...he can't see 'em!) Very clever.

I was hoping for something to read to a child. Instead I found Santa mixed up with the NRA and toting a Confederate flag. Adults may find this an amusing rendition of St. Nick's visit with clever illustrations - but I'd never read this to a child.

If you or someone you know is a genuine redneck--then buy this book! Davis crammed his book full of great lingo, authentic redneck details, and hilarious parody. Just don't try to drink an RC cola while you read, or you'll end up laughing and spewing it all over the book. Take it from one who knows!

Amusing and very creative in content. Sure to hold attention. Very good for Christmas. Adults will appreciate the book as well as children. Very colorful! Worth the money!

i am just learning asl, but i was very dissapointed with this book's approach because i find signing to be so beautiful. The book is set up like a regular kid's book, with written text underneath a picture. The signed english is off in a box by itself, partly covering the picture. There is a ugly line drawing of the sign for each word of the text, with the word again written under it. The signs look out of place, and were the last thing my eye wandered to. I would not read this book to a deaf child, because i felt like it made the signs look like afterthoughts, or intrustions on english, rather than important events of their own. The signs are presented as isolated from the story and colorful illustrations, and they are very small and unattractive looking. i want any book i share with a child to convey the beauty and integrity of signs, and give the child pride in his culture. i would have liked it more if the signs were at least nicely drawn, or if the text was only shown once, as a key to the signs. I also wonder about the choice of translating a rhyming story like the night before christmas into a visual language like sign where rhymes carry no meaning. While i did learn a few new signs from it, i would recommendend buying a child's sign langauge book with pictures and signs for common words, or buying a children's book and drawing signs next to its text; your sign illustrations will probably look more inviting and send a better message about the importance of sign langauge

This is a wonderful series of children's books, using simplified versions of classic stories that families can enjoy together, especially if the deaf child has hearing parents. The signing technique used is Signed English, as opposed to ASL, so there a sign for each part of every sentence. S.E. was developed to teach kids about communication through the English language as well as through sign. A great resource for learning and literacy.
