I haven't read a book in over seven years. I couldn't put this one down. I finished this tome in about a week and can't wait for the sequel. It's a very gripping story that takes you through the life of a teenage boy. All his ups and downs, joys and disappointments, and the harsh realities of life. A different look at abuse and how it is dealt with. I'm surprised this kid made it through life with such a positive attitude. I highly recommend this book.

A story that leads you on a rollercoaster of emotions as a young man's life is virtually destroyed in one hapless day. From there he attempts to deal with life as it throws him curve balls, in the form of women (those who love him and those who scare him), police, bosses and even the FBI. A road story of the first order as the nameless hero hitchhikes across the United States, until he finds love - then has it cruelly taken from him. At 722 pages it appears to be a long book, but the story line pulls you along to the point it is almost impossible to put it down and before you know it, you have finished the book and want more. As the first book in a trilogy I cannot wait for the next two books to be released - Bob Moore is a first rate story teller.

Knowing this author and that he spent some time with Christina Crawford, "Mommie Dearest", working with abused people groups.. I know this story comes from actual events related to him. The book is both educating and painful to read but makes you realize that some people will survive inspite of what the world dishes out to them.

What can be said about the most factual biography written about Wiley Post. Kudos to Bob for telling the story of Wiley Post with the utmost accuracy and authenticity. His work brings to the reader a factual and conceise history of one of the worlds greatest avaitors. Once you start you want to read it from cover to cover. For avaition buffs this is a must read. Not only does it give a great deal of insight to the mentality of a fearless flyer, but provides the reader a look at an uneducated man who by dogged detrmination and force of will, circumnavigated the globe and designed the prototype of the modern space suite.

Bob Burke as set an example for writers and researchers that will be hard to match in his wonderful work on Wiley Post. Aviation buffs, Oklahomans and anyone who appreciates a good book that is hard to put down will appreciate "From Oklahoma to Eternity: The Life of Wiley Post and The Winnie Mae". In addition to his excellent journalistic skills, Burke proves himself to be a superb researcher with a desire to mix truth, fact and adventure with a great story about a great man. I have added this book to my personal list of all time favorites and will look forward to more works by Bob Burke. It is so very refreshing to read history (I am a historian) written honestly without loads of mistakes and sloppy research. Keep that word processor fired up Mr. Burke!

Like the title says, this is the book (or collection thereof) that started the best (IMHO) comic book series ever. This shows how the GenX kids got together, and it depicts their first adventure together, sadly however, there is one who will not stay with them for very long. A MUST READ for any comic book fan!

Bob Moore makes a great showing by helping me and anyone who tries it to be able to learn vocab by learning the bases of the language. Hey if you know what the base "sub," any word that starts with has something to do with down, or under. This book is great for all SAT takers. I highly recommend it.

This is a delightful book: it is smart but easy to read. The author burns images and analogies into your mind that are unforgetable. In particular, I cannot forget his treatment of time and privacy. These are the best descriptions of the problems of privacy in the internet and in the compression of time that I have ever read. Overall, this book makes you think but flows easily and conversationally. He is dealing with big issues in an accessible way.

Mr. Moore provides a superb framework for understanding how to create competitive advantage in a time of unrelenting pressure on our time. As an E-commerce manager, I found myself challenging my current priorities against "the verities of time, truth, trust, and privacy." This book is incredibly thought provoking.

We can all learn a valuable lesson from Bob Ross' latest publication on humor in the maket place. This relatively short book is a series of vignettes, observations and just plain funny happenings that are directed to one central theme: that the ability to appreciate humor in every facet of our lives, including business as well as leisure can do much to alevieate stress, impove health and enhance morale. A humorus speaker who is in demand at corporate meetings where he pulls off outrageous performances posing as an expert in the particular coprorate field, Ross has been known to send his audience into appoplexy with distressing and even devistating news of the corporation's future, new regulations, taxes and other matters. He goes on ponderously untill they slowly discern that they had been had. Needless to say there are a lot of laughs that follow. This is but one way Ross has sucessfully convinced executives that there is indeed a need and a place for humor in busineess. I reccomend this book for all executives who may be a bit shy about expressing humor in the company of their employees, and to every one who appreciates the gift of humor.

As a professional comedian (and one who has appeared on both Johnny Carson's and Jay Leno's late night talk shows), I make it a point to review various books about humor. I found Mr. Ross's book to be unique in the way it so thoroughly illustrates the use of humor for purposes other than just "getting a laugh". He's also right-on with his tips on creating comedy and delivering it properly. To me, this is worthwhile reading for everyone - even those outside the "Funny Business".

This book is a real "keeper." It explains in detail how to apply humor in a productive manner to deal with all kinds of business and personal situations. I don't know of any other book that provides such a broad treatment of the subject of using humor to handle such a range of different problems.

It is extremely easy reading because it contains over 400 entertaining stories about famous people and companies thinking funny to achieve extraordinary results. You'll be entertained and pleasantly surprised at the many ways you can use humor effectively in all aspect of your life.

Fabulous rendition of this popular tale. The clay artwork brings the story to life in the way that Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer's three dimensional story does on televison. My only sadness is that on the page where 'sugarplums dance in the childrens heads'--there aren't any sugarplums dancing!! (as a child I was always partial to that particular image). Other than that this really is a beautiful book and the nicest one I've seen of this story.

As a Latin learner, no doubt I'm interested in etymology. I picked up this book for the title and the publisher. They betrayed me. This work ,certaily, contains Latin and Greek origins and their derivatives, but doesn't mention any grammarical points without which we cannot grasp the morpholgy of Latin or Greek derived English words. Further, the vocabulary index at the end of it counts only 2,000 or so. I can list more than that without any preparation, ad-lib. You can find more authentic information even in [Wheelock's Latin]. I'd rather recommend [The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language], which is the best for English etymology. So if you are a serious reader, forget this book.

However, this work has easy-to-read format and some cartoon-like illustrations. I guess this is intended for the senior elementary school students. They will enjoy this book while constructing essential vocabulary. That's why I give 3 stars.

I have found this book to be very helpful studying Latin and Greek roots. This is not a Latin textbook, as Jay Chang was probably looking for (he seemed to be looking for e-mail friends more than anything), and if he thought so from the title then he needs to study more English. My students (Graduate level English majors) love this book, we all find it very helpful because of the way it specifically traces roots in each words breakdown allowing the reader to understand many more words that are related. If you are looking to expand your English vocabulary and your understanding of the roots of our language, this is the best book I have found.

The identity of the Hobgoblin was a mystery for a long time in the Spider-Man series. There were many red herrings and clues which led readers down wrong paths for many years. The original Hobgoblin stories were some of the most well written stories in the Spider-Man series. Now that it has come time to reveal who the Hobgoblin actually was, it is somewhat of a disappointment. It is almost as if Stern changed his mind several times before settling on who it actually was. Considering the high quality of the early Hobgoblin stories, this is a big letdown, especially as Hobgoblin is revealed to be a minor character who didn't really have much impact in the series.

Back when Amazing Spiderman #238 first came out it was the beginning of one of the most exciting Spiderman stories ever. A story that went on for 52 issues, with the reader not knowing who the Hobgoblin was, untill finally in #289 Ned Leeds was unmasked and turned out to be the Hobgoblin. At least, we readers 'knew' that Ned was the Hobgoblin, because in the Spiderman reality it was 'proven' later that Jason Macendale was the Hobgoblin. They never knew Leeds to be the Hobgoblin because Macendale just stole Leeds' gear right after Ned was murdered so he was never 'caught in the act'. Macendale later got arrested and un-masked so now everybody thinks he's the one and only Hobgoblin, and Macendale never denied it.

Now it's 15 years later and it's time for 'Hobgoblin lives' (brought to you by the same writer that brought you the original saga, a big plus in my opinion), a story that takes place just after the Clone Saga thing is all over and done with. It starts of with Macendale being put on public trial to be punished for the acts of crime he committed as the Hobgoblin. When he's being led away he shouts out to the representatives of the press that he ISN'T the first Hobgoblin but that the original Hobgoblin was really the late Ned Leeds ! Then the story kicks into gear. A big scale 'who is it' investigation is started again by several different groups of interest, re-opening the whole question "who IS the real Hobgoblin." You find yourself in a fast-pacing story where the 'nominees-list' and the 'he-can't-be-it' list constantly alters in the eye of the reader (Sort of like when you first watched the movie 'Scream') and where you only find out who actually IS the real Hobgoblin in the very end. Meanwhile you're being taken through the story by good, clear, flowing art and excellent, storytelling, plot-twisting writing. A very good story in the Spiderman history and a more than worthy successor to the original Hobgoblin Saga.

Note though: When you haven't read the original Hobgoblin Saga this is a really hard story to understand and get into. The story constantly makes remarks of what happened in the original story. So if you really wanna enjoy this one you'd do best by getting the issues (or the trade) of the original Hobgoblin Saga first. After that, it's on !

Ever since Roger Stern introduced the villainous Hobgoblin in the early 1980's, his true identity has been a mystery to Spider-Man and readers, and even other writers. After he left, another writer took a guess and "revealed" his identity. Only problem is, he was 100% wrong. Now, 15 years after the Hobgoblin's introduction, Roger Stern is back, with three masterfully written issues. His purpose? To reveal the one, true Hobgoblin's identity once and for all!

To anyone who read the original Hobgoblin stories by Stern, you know that they read as good as the best mystery novel, only serialized and with superheroes. Here, Stern brings back all the old suspects and supporting cast, and successfully recreates the feeling. Ron Frenz also does some magnificent art, making "Hobby" seem quite creepy.

Fortunately, you don't need to have read the original stories in order to understand and like this one, but you do have to have done so in order to fully appreciate it. So I give this 4.5 stars if you haven't read the old stories, and 5 if you have.

I've read all of the stories in this Batman TPB, and while the Bat-Mite and Poison Ivy tales are OK, the first tale, "Blades" by Robinson and Sale, is spectacular. If you're a fan of "Starman" or anything else by Robinson, buy this quick. If you like great storytelling and great art by Sale, buy this quick!

I especially liked the story with Bat-Mite! HE is so cute and funny. "Hothouse" is a little confusing though, but I think I pretty mush got it down.
