Great summary of clinical derm and dermpath
I am a dermatopathologist in training, and got this book for synthesis of information. The color photographs are great, but the explanations are very brief. This book is more for someone who just wants a quick overview of a condition, rather than a detailed text.

What's the Deal With Joy?
Joy. It's a great fruit of the spirit. Unfortunately, many people mistake happiness for joy and thereby have no understanding of what joy really is. This small book contains various quotations and scripture passage that enliven, explain, and illuminate what joy is. An excellent book to give to someone as a gift.

This is a super book for purpose for which it was written
I have not read the latest version of the book; however, I read the original authored by Miller. I found the recorded examples used to illustrate the ideas in the book especially useful. The original book contained a list of twenty-five basic compositions which illustrated the ideas.

Exciting and full of interesting facts on an interesting sub
I had to read Kathy for a school project. It was very interesting and I enjoyed it very much. I would like an update on Kathy Millers life though. How she is doing and what she is doing. It was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Nice Reference Book for Fine China Collectors
I first looked at this book at the library, then decided it was informative enough to purchase for my own china collector's library. It doesn't have prices which many do...but it has wonderful descriptions of the manufacturers and good color photographs. Used in conjunction with a Warman's book, you will be able to identify most major china manufacturers. I reccommend this highly.

A book described well by its title
This collection of articles, previously published in the journal "Social Philosophy & Policy", are mostly concerned with some of the ethical and policy issues surrounding the outcomes of the Human Genome Prohject, with a couple of articles addressing the computing field.
I found it a most useful collection, with a number of good, well-written (a rarity for philosophers) and thoughtful pieces on patenting and property rights, the relationship between economics and research, political (mis-)direction, and the protection of the weak in areas of genetic-related counselling. I especilly liked the critique of the utilitarian model of patenting.

A good book, even for a novice like me
This book has some nice puzzles in it, including some that have even stumped 'veteran' lateral puzzle thinkers I know. Some of them are easy enough to get right off, but that is more the exception than the rule.
I haven't read all of the solutions yet, but only a very few puzzles had truly implausible answers (those that did are why I didn't give the book top rating).

Very hard learning curve, not for beginners.
I'm a user of 3D Studio R4, and so I thought that I could easily transfer the lofting skills into 3ds max without too much of a problem. This book, however, doesn't use many of the techniques used in the Inside 3DStudioR4 book by New Riders. It's definitely not for beginning users looking to learn the fundamentals of using 3DSmax. I was disappointed at its learning curve, but I assume if you're comfortable with 3DSmax1, then this book might be for you. If somebody knows a book for 3DSmax2 that is in the same vein as Inside 3DStudio R4, then please email me ;)
GREAT BOOK!!
Many books on the market will give you step by step instructions how how to create a scene, or create certain effects. Although this is sometimes handy, it doesn't easially allow the user to incorperate the skills they learned into their own work.
Inside 3D Studio Max shows you the concepts behind how the program works, and allows you to apply these concepts, and skills to your own work, rather than a preformatted tutorial. It is this fact, however, that makes the book not extremely useful for modelers who are new to the program. This book often speaks of the manual which ships with 3DS Max, and the writer made it clear that this was not yet ANOTHER MANUAL. Inside 3D Studio Max explores how to expand your ability.
If you have no prior modeling practice, read the manual which ships with Max, then buy this book. If you do that, you will appreciate what is taught in this massive book.
This is an overall GREAT book, and it has really helped me to become a much better 3D artist.

Another Classic from the Masters
There's a thing common to all classic books: even if you've read one from cover to cover you discover something new every time you open it. Things that you glossed over earlier suddenly start to make sense. This book is no exception.
Since 'Inside 3D Studio Rel. 3' the authors have provided an unique insight into the world's most popular 3D programs. This book raises the standard even further, providing enough grip for the novice and a treasure trove of knowledge of the professional. The best thing about this book is the explanation of the PRINCIPLES behind 3D Studio MAX. Instead of the 'do this-screen shot-do that' methodology, the authors have concentrated in the core ideas behind every tool and procedure. If you want MAX to be an extension to your right brain, get this book. Read it all the time. Do the tutorials. Keep referring to it for ideas. You'll discover what you were missing with other books -- the real goods on making MAX dance to your tune.

This collection is one of the best comicbook that takes on real life situations without letting the superheroes element disturb your attention. A nicely executed story and the ending will ask you a provoking question about the event in the book. What would you do if it actually happen to you?
