DO NOT buy this book.
Don't buy this book if you want to raise your TOEFL score!
This book shows you what the TOEFL is llike, but it will NOT give you any deep preparation. It does not even come close to preparing you for all the material you will see on the TOEFL. The grammar is too easy, the listening section is mostly just a list of idioms, and some of the reading passages are about topics that TOEFL does NOT put on their tests.
You might think this is a good book because it is long, but don't think that! Most of the book consists of practice tests--Princeton Review puts one question on each page (trying to simulate what the computer will look like). For example, the last 150 pages of the book are ONE test.
Finally, the CD-ROM is NOT a Computer Test. You will get only some listening practice.
Good luck on your TOEFL!
A good book
This is a good book if you want to take TOEFL practice tests but not interested in the preparation material as such. The TOEFL practice tests are really good, you will get a decent practice. I would recommend this book.

Not nearly enough material in this book
Overall, Princeton Review's Cracking the TOEFL 2001 is probably not the best book to buy to prepare for the TOEFL exam. Although it is not terribly written and does provide a fair understanding of the different question types on the test, there is simply not enough practice material in this book. Case in point: You get one practice test that takes up the last 150 pages of the book. In addition to that, you get what amounts to one listening test in the listening section, two reading passages in the reading section, and a small selection of grammar exercises in the grammar section. Yes, that is the whole book. And many of the individual exercises take up a full page. In my opinion, this is just not enough practice material to allow students to "crack the TOEFL." Other drawbacks of Cracking the TOEFL 2001 include a somewhat confusing, assumption-leaden breakdown of the grammar section and several overly obtuse reading passages. On a positive note, all of the listening exercises are well-done and the TWE section is simply and clearly presented. Bottom line: You could do worse in TOEFL test-prep book, but you could also do much better. Cracking the TOEFL 2001 is not going to provide enough practice for most students who want to increase their score on the TOEFL.
This reference book is the best!
As you know, there are many tricky and picky questions in a TOEFL test. This reference book is the best preparation book for the kind of questions. I got high score with this book. If people read this book, they can get used to solving questions in a TOEFL test. With the CD-ROM, people can practice diagnostic tests. The tests are similar to a real TOEFL CBT test.

A Good Reference for Beginner
I use this book for 2 years. I found it would be good for beginner who would like to get generic ideas in quality improvement (also too generic so just fit for beginner).
For me, this book is good for me to prepare training material for the staffs who are fresh in quality improvement project.

It's Ok
The footnotes are numbered strangely and they don't elaborate on the footnoted item very well.
Good Textbook
This was the textbook used in my American Literature I class last semester. Volume Two is being used in the second half that I am taking this semester. The book offers a good collection of American Literature from the earliest European Explorers to the late 1800's. The additional information offered in the introductions to each author and literary time period adds to the student's understanding of the works.

Update of an inadequate text
I have not read this edition of Dr. Kent's book, but as a former student of Dr. Kent's, I was forced to buy his text when I took his comparative anatomy course. At the time, I found it a difficult read of marginal usefulness. When he left Louisiana State, a different, far better text was introduced. If this is merely an update of that volume, I echo others who recommend other sources.
Interesting, but a disappointing lack of detail.
Though this book is a decent introductory guide to comparative vertebrate anatomy, there is a significant lack of detail in certain sections. The text is very condensed, and difficult to read at certain parts. I recommend using a similar book by Walker.

CBT prepraration book that does not have a cd to prepare you
You buy this book thinking that it will actualy going to prepare you but you are wrong. The online tools are no longer available and therefore you can not practice online. The cd that accompany the book does not carry any cbt exams and once again you have no way to prepare your self. What is the point of buying a cbt preparation book if you can`t prepare yourself with the computer programs that you will be taking the test? Don`t waist your time or your money with this book.
Listening part is the best I ever have
I finished this book few days ago. I feel this book's best part is listening~~ I really appriciate that part. Because of that audio cdrom. I took toefl one time. Difiiculty is very similar to Toefl.

Save your $$
This book, less than 40 pages in length, was a total waste of my time and money --- esp. since I paid almost quadruple the list price for it, as it was out of print. It's basically a sour-grapes account by the author of his experiences with a particular condominium development in Florida --- NOT what I expected to say the least. Does prove to me, however, tht ANYONE can publish and sell a book...
