Glimmer Train's got game
Glimmer Train features up and coming talented writers, and boy have they have one in Daniel Wallace. What a great writer. The folks at the Train have the ability to spot talent, so look for these authors elsewhere for other good reads. This is the new crop of the biggies. Especially Wallace. A++

Superb Financial Thriller
It was Michael Thomas who made me an unabashed admirer of Financial Thrillers. This book of his , is a nail biting, super exciting thriller, not only an extra ordinary story beautifully told, but also an education for common folks who dont know the intrigues and manipulations of financial markets, stock markets and corporate warfare big games that happen all the time out there in the market place. Green Monday is a book not to be missed.

A must for Financial fiction fans
Hanover Place was the first Michael Thomas novel that I read and it made me fan for life. Financial oriented fiction is an underappreciated subject for writers, but amongst the few Michael Thomas is without a doubt the best. Its the only novel I've found that propels the reader through the evolution of Wall Street at the turn of the 20th century to the modern era. Its the best of Thomas's works and a mainstay in my library.

Excellent, but not really a financial thriller
This is more of a financial saga than a thriller. It's light on the technical details, heavy on the personalities. Thomas is very engaging, wry and humorous in the way he sizes up all the players and their motives.

Yes, it's out of print, but you should be able to find it used somewhere,

Headlong Hall and Gryll Grange (The World's Classics)
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (1987)
Authors: Thomas Love Peacock, Michael Baron, and Michael Slater
Amazon base price: $5.95
Average review score:

A perfect pleasure
Peacock deserves a far wider readership. The modesty of a man whose books could have been dressed up as classics but were left as the iridescent sports they are is awesome. Wholly satisfying, these anticipate Joyce's and look back to Sterne's comprehensive neutrality. Gryll Grange: greatest novel of the nineteenth century? Certainly the subtlest intellectually.

*complete* and a good read!
you wouldn't think heartburn could be an interesting subject but this book was very readable. the information is easily understood and very complete. advice is given for all stages and conditions. i was burping 500-1000 times a day and frequently had chest pain unlike any heartburn i had known. i had seen a report on tv that got me thinking about heartburn and this was the one heartburn book in our library. the advice given prompted me to try an over the counter h2 blocker (pepcid ac) and the symptoms reduced dramatically almost immediately! but because the symptoms were not eliminated and indicate ulceration's, i am planning a trip to the doctor seeking a prescription for prilosec so my ulceration's can heal completely. i learned acid reflux can cause a host of problems with or without the accompanying symptom of heartburn and that life threatening ulceration's can develop with no symptoms whatsoever! the knowledge in this book should be useful to everyone at some point in their life and a god send to those suffering from acid reflux.

A Must For Concerto Fans
Roeder's book is an excellent source of information about concertos. I especially liked this book for its concise information covering an enormous range of musical history. It starts from the very beginning of the concerto's birth and covers all the great composers of our time. Being a musician myself, I am constantly absorbed by all musical history that I can get my hands on. This book is similar to that of Steinberg's The Concerto in that it covers a wide range of composers. Steinberg's does not cover as much detail and it is very much like a listener's guide. Roeder digs deeper into the background of the composer, the history of the composer and the piece itself....not to mention the importance and significance the piece has brought to the musical world. Anyone who is interested in this book should be forwarned that it is a bit on the technical side and a knowledge of musical theory and form is helpful. As for fellow musicians interested in this book, it is an excellent source of information. Whether you want to read the entire book through or if you just want to focus on specific composers or musical periods it is a great musician's tool.

Beautiful Book!
My whole family (father, mother, and son) enjoyed this beautiful book. I enjoyed the wonderful photographs and accompaning quotations. Each was complementary to the other. Sometimes I just looked at the photographs. Sometimes I just read at the quotations.

Michael Impellizzeri is a gifted photographer. My son and I met him at Isle Royale National Park in June of 2000. I assume he was creating material for a future book which I look forward to enjoying.
