Whether reading your official version of Shakespeare or another version, Meron offers insight into the chivalric themes present in these brilliant plays. Or something like that. Whether its Troilus and Cressida or Henry V, Meron is better at 8:30 in the morning than the New York Times.

This collection of essays is fantastic. It brings together a number of issues in war crimes law, including the early origins of humanitarian intervention and community interest in human rights through the disucssion of the works of Grotius and Gentili. IT is a valuable addition to any collection of international law texts.

Meron's work on the relationship between Shakespeare and the law is groundbreaking. Although not quite on the level of Bloody Constraint, this earlier work of Meron provides insight into the canon and the role of chivalry. Really solid reading at 8:30 in the morning over a cup of coffee and a croissant or late at night next to your edition of a complete Shakespeare. Meron, a professor at NYU Law School, clearly drew upon the resources of the Global Law School Program and provides insight into the relevance of Shakespeare to modern international law.
