Attaining the Wealth You Deserve...
...another of the great Life 101 Series Peter McWilliams (this is with John-Roger) is over 500 pages of solid gold advice and affirmations. The authors define wealth (40 pages of ways of looking at life), then money--and how important it is in the overall scheme of things. They show you how to enjoy what you already have...the section "You Can Have Anything You Want, but you Can't have Everything You Want" is kind of a summary statement for the entire journey presented here, but then the authors tell you, "Obtaining Is Easy; Maintaining is Hard"...they suggest that it is all an Inside Job. One which requires a bit of maintenance. They then tell you how to get more of anything you want. Money. Popularity. How to win the Powerball. (Just kidding on that last item.) Well, if they don't have the "How to" on winning the Powerball, they have the "How to" on how to enjoy the winnings. Every other page is an appropriate quote to suit the
writers' text and one can find enjoyment out of reading these alone if one is so inclined. Oprah Winfrey gives the gist of the
authors' major intention. She says "Before I had money I was really quite happy. And, I will tell you this...I never would have gotten the money If I wasn't happy to begin with". Again, it is written with those who are Brain Numb (like I am) in mind. Even if you don't become wealthy overnight, you would have taken a step in the right direction to achieve wealth and financial stability by getting this great book.

Must reading for anyone doing Word Processing on a computer
Even though The Word Processing Book is currently out of print and dated, it remains must reading for anyone doing word processing, with any program, on a any computer system. Unlike books about specific programs which tell you how to do something, this book tells you why to do something.

Basic word processing concepts and ways of thinking are not instinctive nor are they easily picked up on the fly. This book explores them. I hope Mr. McWilliams will update it at some point. Like all of his books, this is fun to read and informative.

WONDERFUL!
This book is full of things that should be explicitly clear to any level-headed person. The premise of the book is that you can't legalize personal morality -- and if an action that one person takes does not hurt the person or property of another, then there is no reason for it to be illegal.

McWilliams presents his arguments in a very well written manner. And while I do not agree with every point that he makes, I do most certainly see and respect his point of view. Some of his view are distorted; some are right on target.

McWilliams even put together a website where you can read the entire length of the book for free. Just go to mcwilliams.com, then click on the appropriate links. But the book is a must have -- because at the top of every page is a quote -- a quote that is relevant to the subject matter of the surrounding pages. The price of the book is well worth the wealth of quotes that you get.

Perfect Book If You Love To Debate On Drug Laws and Censorsh
The book is basically what the title is about. The absurdity of concensual crimes (drugs, prostitution, gambling, "obsenity", censorship, etc.)in a free society.Peter Mcwilliams humor and thorough presentation of unbelievable facts along with witty and sometimes humorous quotes, make this the best book I've read regarding political and social views. This book will give you all the information you need when debating topics such as censorship, the constitution, the "war" on drugs etc. Read this book and then pass it on to the most ignorant, prejudice (pre-judge, not necesarrily race or sex wise) person you know who favors authoritarian laws, then buy another copy for yourself, it's that good!

I Mostly Disagree, But - SPLENDID JOB!
This is one of the most informative and engaging books I have read in a long, long time. Every page has a quote, some of which are exceptionally enlightening besides being very entertaining. For instance George Washington in 1796: "The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." Hello Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson!

Personally I take a bit more pause over some issues, examples like the harmlessness of random jay-walking and not wearing motorcycle helmets. I think that many of these laws save lives, much of the public being too stupid to look out for themselves. But that's the whole point of this book and what makes it such a kick in the pants! Push come to shove, I'd probably take McWilliams' side any day. Be prepared to get mighty angry when the hypocrisy of many of our laws is pointed out.

Oh, by the way - at nearly 700 pages, the book's dirt cheap.

Come Love with me and be my life
I just picked this book up ata local antique book dealer. I have read and lived by his previous book " How to survive the Loss of a love". McWilliams words are soothing and have been a great comfort to me. No matter what state of "love" you are in, there is a poem for you. I know this one will be as dog earred as my other one.

Love Junky
The Hard Stuff..... the words drive the reader along the course of a love or several. The emotional appeal is excellent. So real and simple it is to accept, assimilate, understand, agree with McWilliams' words. This book is filled with words of self-discovery in a world of yearning, loving and perhaps, even blind, naive obsession. Each reader will discover phrases that ring through the mind long after the book is closed and set upon the shelf, such as "return the word naked." These private expressions are universally experienced. The words will return to you when you least expect.

powerfully emotional and intuitive
This book was given to me several years ago yet it has been a guide and a consolation during times of romantic distress and of good times. His words touch upon the true feelings of love and loss, he truly gives his heart a voice. I would reccomend this book to anyone who has been in love, is in love, or ever even thought about love. Beautiful!

Yes. You can become the PERSON you wish to be
Every time I read this book I gain an incredible amount of energy. It is unbelievable that someone I don't even know can translate his passion for life to me in a book. It is hard to put this book down. Books like this should be required in school because it unleash a human's desire to success in a positive way. You will discover all your inner potentials and wonder why you never knew it before. Yes, there is a better YOU to be discover and if you dream big (in a positive way). Someday. you will find success. This book will show you how to get there.

Changed my life!
I first read this book when I borrowed it from a friend. Since that time, I have bought it for myself, as well as at least 5 of my friends! What I lvoe most of all about it is that you don't have to read it from beginning to end. You can skim the table of contents and find what you need! Just flip to the fear section, for example, and get over it! I am an actor and bring the book to my auditions sometimes. I think it's really great and I highly recommend it.

True-isms abound!
This book can help ANYONE achieve anything they ever desired, period. As an already sucessful person, I have dismissed the entire self-help industry as garbage appealing to those who have no inherent desire to be the creative force in their own lives. I picked up this book because the author, McWilliams shared my political ideology and I admired him greatly (unfortunately he is now dead). What I found in this book is rationality applied consistently throughout. The presentation of the material, and his selection of quotes simply boggle anyone's mind. The sucessful or unsucessful or not. "Do or do not. There is no Try." Its all so inherently obvious when you read this book! You are not in opposition to yourself, you've just got a mindblock! BUY THIS BOOK. It will fundamentally change ANYONE's life.

Pure wisdom in a nutshell
I've received a great boost of enegy and encouragement from delving into the soul of this witty writer. His dealings with omniscient human problems are easy to grasp and can be assimilated in ones own experience. If anything, you'll experience a work of true compassion laced with invaluable lessons learnt by hard earned experience. McWilliams is an authentic teacher who disseminates what he truly believes. No hypocrisy here. His sharing of his life experience reveals a strong belief in important values such as sharing, loving oneself and meditation. Money is also discussed and treated as it should be - philosophically and honestly. Obviously, beneath the veneer of this well written, work- of- art -self- help book, lies the portrayel of a true lover of humanity.

The kind of book you read over and over.
This book blows me away. Puts life in perspective and teaches us to lighten up and move on. Bravo.

It's my favorite book about 5 years
There are many funy things about money, wishes and so on. I smile every time when read their. When I have some problem in my life I get this book and read from any place I opened the book. And all the time I start to feel better.

Good, but not McWilliams' best work
I picked this up partly because of its price--$.at the Bookworm--and partly because of my favorable impression of McWilliams from his Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do. The writing style is reminiscent of that book, but the topic--self-help for people who want more money--is more obscure, more abstract, than the treatise on libertarianism. In fact, a majority of this book would probably send most realists screaming. It's a "I feel good, you feel good" soft of namby-pamby new-age book. But, surprisingly, there is a gem of information contained herein if you can stomach the bonhominie. The sections regarding the setting of one's purpose and one's goals can be useful, as is the section regarding how one should "keep score" on their progress towards their goals.

If anything, this book was good for jump-starting my thinking about what I want to do with my life. I think I've gotten side-tracked in the past year, what with finally obtaining one goal (my bachelor's degree), and quickly moving through another (a better job). While I am happy to have achieved both of these goals, I have to be reminded that they are ancilliary to my purpose to become a self-sustaining writer. They may help in the long run, but I cannot rest on them. There are also several tools here that can enable one to help concentrate on goals, as well as a questionnaire to determine if the goal you have chosen is actually what you want.

Very important message for our times, for any person.
The message is that there is much more to life than just monetary gain. It is a terrific book for anyone that is searching for meaning, recovering after a loss or trauma, or frustrated with society's value system. The book is filled with quotes from all types of intellectuals, comedians and other profound speakers throughout the ages. It is very entertaining.

Absolutely brilliant
This book is not only a whole new approach to money, it is an entirely new approach to self-direction and personal growth. Peter McWilliams is absolutely brilliant, thought-provoking, and enlightening. This book is one of a kind when it comes to personal growth- far far better than anything Stephen Covey could ever write.

Hypericum (St John's Wort) and Depression

St. John's help.
With the high press this flower has received, another aspect to consider with St. John's Wort is the type of processing and extracting it has undergone. This is barely touched on in this book. For many this product has done the job in knocking down their depression, yet the consumer musy not order from just any herbal site. A supplier must be able to document that his/her product is one that really will be absorbed by the body and be carried to the brain. One on-line site where I personally have had both good service and accurate informaton and product representation is iHerb. They offer only the best products that have undergone sufficient testing. Check them out and good luck if St. John's Wort is what you're choosing.

Concise and full of information.
Plenty of practical and useful information here and well documented with summaries of past research. I learned quite a bit about dosage, brands, and the most recent theories about how St. John's Wort works. This herb appears to work on three neurochemicals: dopamine, norephedrine, and serotonin. Prozac and other antidepressents don't work on dopamine. Many people with attention deficit disorder are low in dopamine as well as serotonin, so I found this interesting and have added some info to my website on that topic. There's also a website for free updates. I just checked it and there's a reprint of the LA Times article in which some manufacturer's of the herb were found skimping on the product, including Sundown. I liked the technical information; as a scientist I appreciate the opportunity to look at the data myself.

Very informative!
I wanted to know the correct dosages to try and what was safe when taking other medications. This book answered those questions for me. Highly reccomend for anyone suffering from clinical depression.

Great Disappointment
I have recently purchased the tape series of Love 101 much to my disappointment. If you are looking for a little reinforcement and a different perspective on how to accomplish self-esteem, these are not the tapes for you. However, if you enjoy listening to introductions to clips of nostalgic music and comedy routines then you might want to give this a try. I found that the subject matter had little to do with self-esteem directly but more to do with announcing the next "ditty" ranging from Mae West to Al Jolson and Groucho Marx. I doubt if most of these routines and songs have seen the light of day since the big band era. These tapes were more of a trip down memory lane than a "boost" in one's self-esteem.

Teaches self-love and self-esteem, but deprecates marriage.
This book is excellent for persons who are unhappy and can't put their finger on why. It teaches you how to stop beating yourself up emotionally and create a "sanctuary" in your mind where you can explore how you want to feel, and what you want to be and do in life. The author is correct in pointing out that you should love yourself, because you are the only one who will always be there for yourself. I am a Christian, and I advise Christians to turn to Jesus once they've reached the limits of what this book can provide. Your faith will help you recognize what these limits are. Christians should remember that, since God and Jesus love you, you should be able to do the same. OK, back to the book. It correctly deprecates infatuation, which produces the notion that "love will always make everything all right" in many people. However, the book goes further, and implies that a successful marriage will only be based on one of several purely practical types of relationship, no love required. There is an entire chapter of quotes, mostly from entertainers, which belittle marriage and even recommend adultery! The possibility of a mature, mutual love developing within and constantly nurturing a marriage is not considered. I think many people can use this book. However, they need to take a hard look at which parts are beneficial for them and which are not.

Love 101 tape the best company while traveling. . .
Peter McWilliams is so tuned into what should be obvious to us all. Love 101 is particularly good company while driving "alone". It is insightful, humorous and I play it often to keep me tuned in and tuned up.

Great for understanding and normalizing depression.
I am a psychologist working in a college counseling center, and I frequently recommend this book to my clients. The only thing I don't like about the book is the title, because I think it is misleading. Rather than help to "heal" depression, this book is excellent for helping one to understand their depression and to normalize this experience as a means to reduce self-blame. The best part of this book is its unique, easy-to-read format: the chapters are written in outline form, and each chapter is just 1-2 pages long and printed on the left-hand sides of the pages only. The right-hand side pages contain quotes and sayings from famous people who have experienced depression, including Abraham Lincoln ("I am now the most miserable man living"). A great first step to understanding depression in yourself or someone you love.

A lifeline for the depressed by those who understand
When a person is depressed, it takes a lot to get through to them. I spotted this book's colorful cover at a large bookstore chain and suspected from the beginning that I had finally found something really helpful. Even the bold nature of the title, "How to HEAL Depression," appealed to the hopeful kernel deep inside. I was right. It was the most helpful of all the books I read on the subject during the time two years ago when my college-age daughter was battling depression. I had waged my own battle with this problem some 20 years before, and and was thankful that I could recognize the symptoms. This book would have helped me then. I am only glad it was around recently to help us now. "How to Heal Depression" offers a simplicity and straightforwardness that recognizes the delicate nature of the depressed person. When you are depressed, it's hard to maintain an attention span. In order to get through, one needs to make clear, bright, easy-to-understand statements. The fierce inte

Brilliantly Done
I first found this book in the library. While the analysis of what depression is may be excellent but standard, the medical aspects informative but routine, the Healing the Mind section is outstanding and unique. It strikes the right balance between accurate information and humor/surprise. May seem simple, but that's the genius of it. Makes profound ideas easy to comprehend and even FUN. I'm buying my own copy both for myself and to share with friends. The book is a keeper.
