Strange Pieta provides emotion and critical insight.
A breathtaking journey. For the theorist, Strange Pieta enriches the discourse in disability theory. For the common reader, Fraser provides a heartfelt and emotional look into his brother's life, a life that has always been deeply intertwined with his own. Emotion and wit never ceases to flow from Strange Pieta's pages.

Phenomenal
Dr. Lindner is my professor at my college, and I knew that she wrote poetry, but I had never read it. Her poetry is phenomenal. It speaks to the heart, the soul, and the mind.

More, Please!
Until a friend recently sent me a copy of Skin, I thought I had left my poetry-reading days back in college along with things like an all-pizza diet, Macroeconomics, and most of my hair.

As it was, the book sat on the shelf for weeks before I cracked it open to take a look. I'd like to be able to put into words just what sort of effect the contents had on me, but now I have an entirely new appreciation of just how limited my expressive talents really are.

Let's just say that, ever since, I have been searching everywhere for more writing by April Lindner. Join me -- you won't regret it.

These powerful poems got under my skin
What is it like to live and work and love from inside a woman's skin? I'm a man so I can never know for sure, but SKIN paints such vivid word pictures that it knocked me out of my own skin for a while, and into the author's. These poems are powerful.

nlp: new technology of achievement
As a master nlp practioner. I highly, highly recommend this book. you can now apply these tools of excellence instantly. No fluff, just cutting edge practical approach in how to reprogram your body-mind to achieve the results you now want. Learn how to use your brain/bio-computer or believe me it will run you. Who's driving the bus? Take control and take action now. Do it now. Invest in your awesome incredible self.

Good introduction
I agree with one reviewer's comments on the "clinical" writing style of the book. There's a somewhat impersonal, managemential voice to the book, and the constant, dogmatic "NLP is the answer to everything" tone ingratiates at times.

But, once you get past the style, this is a great introduction to NLP. The ideas are clearly, concisely explained and laid out in an organized fashion with plenty of headings. Like a textbook, there are 43 meaningful exercises here that lead you through all the concepts presented. I looked over quite a few NLP books before this one. This is simply the most practical, organized, learnable really, intro to NLP I've seen. Hopefully, a more personal version can be written someday.

Highly recommended for those new to NLP
A very well-done introductory book that really helps you understand that the map is not the territory, but rather a representation of the territory. Our words are the maps, but too often we think they are the territory. This realization can change the way you think so profoundly, you might look at the world and your life in an entirely new way. As one person said, "It's about ferocious living and curiousity."

Great exercises throughout the book demonstrate and ingrain the concepts into your mind that VERY QUICKLY change you internally.
Definitely a good purchase for anyone who is interested in improving themselves, and doesn't have a lot of patience!

Grinding It Out: The Making of McDonald's

Life Begins at 52
Ray Kroc was an itinerant piano player, a paper cup salesman, a multi-mixer super-salesman and, in his most incandescent incarnation, the visionary middle-aged genius behind the McDonald's megalith. This is his gilded story, offered with all the self-serving bombast you might expect from someone who reinvented himself and the world when most of us are beginning to resignedly look down the slow slope towards retirement. Someone once said that reading biographies is worthwhile only so long as the life in question glitters. A strange epitaph, perhaps, to give to someone who made a difference with armies of beef-slinging, coke-sloshing, fry-sizzling, hygiene-obsessed foot-soldiers. But that was Ray Kroc. And "Grinding it Out" is his improbable journey through this dream we call life. We have all been affected by his original reverie, long ago, when he clandestinely watched two brothers named McDonald serving burgers from their oddly shaped fast-food stand. A book to be enjoyed for those who say, "only in America", not with a sneer, but with a wistful smile.

A real hero's story
It is truly inspirational to read about a businessman succeeding by being perfectly moral. Ray Kroc continuously focused on delivering positives instead of negatives. He was way ahead of his time, realizing the power of the entrepreneurial spirit and how to harness that in a large corporation.

Wisdom
Ray Kroc's wisdom from his autobiography:

"You have to spend money to make money."
"I have always believed that each man makes his own happiness and is responsible for his own problems."
"A man must take advantage of any opportunity that comes along."
"I was driven by ambition. I hated to be idle for a minute. I was determined to live well and have nice things, too."
"I work from the part to the whole, and I don't move on to the large scale ideas until i have perfected the small details."
"It's lonely on top."
"Train for a career. Learn how to support themselves and how to enjoy work first. Then if they have a thirst for learning, they can go to night school."

Ah, great person in America!

Corona Between the Sun and the Earth: The First Nro Reconnaissance Eye in Space
Published in Hardcover by Asprs Pubns (1997)
Author: Robert A. McDonald
Amazon base price: $50.00

REVIEW 1 of 3: Corona:NRO Reconnaissance Eye
Of the 3 books on this subject which I have so far read, this society press (ASPRS [ex-student member]) proceedings of a meeting (RAM, ed.), this is the most detailed and technical (includes geoid information (++)). Overall the best public book on the subject was also confirmed after after meeting with ex-DDCI Wheelon at LLNL. The appendices include redacted original reports and some marginally reproduced space images (++). Day's book has a chapter on the Soviet Zenit program lacking in this book (minor RAM--), and Peebles' Corona book has more chapters on the human side of the recovery and process (minor RAM--). The most accurate picture can be gained by having all three books (sorry, but more $ to Amazon). This book represents rare original source material from cold war history. The book also has a pointer to the breast cancer X-ray ID which the NRO/CIA claim to have released.

Phaedra

Racine's version of the myth of Phaedrus and Hippolytus
This year I am using Jean Racine's "Phaedra" as the one non-classical text in my Classical Greek and Roman Mythology Class (yes, I know, "Classical" makes "Greek and Roman" redundant, but it was not my title). In Greek mythology, Phaedra was the half-sister of the Minotaur who was married to Theseus after the hero abandoned her sister Ariadne (albeit, according to some versions of what happened in Crete). Phaedra fell in love with her step-son Hippolytus, who refused her advances. Humiliated, she falsely accused him of having raped her.

My students read "Phaedra" after Euripides's "Hippolytus" as part of an analogy criticism assignment, in which they compare/contrast the two versions, which are decidedly different, to say the least. In the "original" Greek version Hippolytus is a follower of Artemis, and the jealous Aphrodite causes his stepmother to fall in love with him. Phaedra accuses Hippolytus of rape and then hangs herself; Theseus banished his son who is killed before Artemis arrives to tell the truth. In Racine's version Hippolytus is a famous hater of women who falls in love with Aricia, a princess of the blood line of Athens. When false word comes that Theseus is dead, Phaedra moves to put her own son on the throne. In the end the same characters end up dead, but the motivations and other key elements are different.

While I personally would not go so far as to try and argue how Racine's neo-classical version represents the France of 1677, I have found that comparing and contrasting the two versions compels students to think about the choices each dramatist has made. Both the similarities and the differences between "Hippolytus" and "Phaedra" are significant enough to facilitate this effort. Note: Other dramatic versions of this myth include Seneca's play "Phaedra," "Fedra" by Gabriele D'Annunzio, "Thesee" by Andrea Gide, and "The Cretan Woman" by Robinson Jeffers.

Very Practical, full of practical exercises of NLP
This two tapes audiobook is really good as it is not only giving you theory of how NLP works, but also full of practical exercises of some NLP concepts. I think this audiobook is especially good for people like me, having read several books about NLP, knowing some basic theories, but lack of experience of practicing NLP exercise with a coach face-to-face.

An Average Book
After reading a few chapters from this book and compared it to other Fluid Mech books like Frank M. White's Fluid Mechanics and Fundamental of Fluid Mechanics by Munson, Young & Okiishi, I would say this book doesn't provide enough explanation to the various topics in Fluid Mechanics which the other authors did.
If you are the type who prefers to read something lighter, this book will be suitable for you. But for those who prefer to read up & learn more about Fluid Mechanics, Frank White will be a better choice although beginners who are new to Fluid Mech will find White's book a bit hard to understand.
Personally, I would say the best Fluid Book i have ever read will be Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics by Young, Munson & Okiisi. Please refer to the review of that book for more info

The best introductory fluid mechanics book out there!!
Whether you are a student, or actually working in the field, this book is a great first step in fluid mechanics. Tons of problems and good examples in every chapter make this book not only easy to understand, but somewhat enjoyable too!!! You don't get that very often! If you have problems with this book, like 4.0 boy below, then there is obvious problems with your studying habits. Should have gone to Purdue University!!
Good buy I would recommend it to anyone.

I still refer to it 5 years later....
I used this book as an undergrad and found the many examples very helpful in doing the homework problems. I still refer to this textbook quite often as an aeronautical engineer. If you've had a few math courses it isn't too challenging. It is a very good explanation of the basics!
