A live recording by one of our great historians
Stephen Ambrose, one of the foremost authors on the D-Day subject, speaks to an audience of veterans at the Smithsonian. Mr. Ambrose has appeared in several films on war history, and is an accomplished speaker. In this program, he concisely describes the reasoning behind the decisions that greatly effected the way in which WWII ended. Was Eisenhower correct in allowing the Russians to take Berlin? Why didn't we predict the German counter-attack at the Battle of the Bulge when we had their top secret radio code? These are the kinds of questions that S. Ambrose attempts to answer in this fascinating tape. An important addition to collections of his WWII books.

"It seemed like a fine night for a paniced dash."
This is a tale which can appeal to many tastes, largely the taste of those who enjoy the authors. But there are three of them!

Fans of Colbert, Dinello, or Sedaris (and, by extension fans of the Daily Show) will enjoy this tale, perfectly expressed by its authors. Rich with wit, this story carries with it the feeling of a Daily Show special report, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sharply written and never losing its purpose, Wigfield asks many questions, and answers none.

Or does it? Perhaps we were never meant to know.

not great
This book was really not that great. I remember reading one of the stories somewhere else, and the rest were rather predictable. Tilly's Christmas especially I thought was a complete waste of time. Patty's Christmas was O.K., but Patty is just too perfect to be believable. Rosa's story was the one I had read before, and it must have been somewhere else.

Heart Warming
This book is Heart Warming and is the perfect gift on Christmas! Three enchanting stories to make you laugh, cry, smile and enjoy for years! This book was very cool!!!

A touching gift for "Little Women" fans
This beautiful, gift-sized book is a wonderful collection of lost treasures, a perfect holiday gift for fans of Louisa May Alcott. Young girls should really enjoy these moving stories.

Inadequate, distorted view of Zane Grey and his books
Contains inaccuracies about the books, which he fails to understand. His views appear to be dominated by political correctness. He states Zane was "conservative to the core'--this about Zane Grey who relishes students rioting against police and has the hero slug an officer trying to arrest a coed for speeding and who never described a sheriff or indeed any law officer he didn't ridicule and despise! As a professional psychotherapist, I am aghast at his inept view of this happily married, good father as neurotic and a failure. Do not read this book. Buy Grey's wonderful Robber's Roost or The Rainbow Trail or The Heritage of the Desert instead.
