Everything you need to know about wasting paper and time.
I wanted to give this book ZERO stars, but there is no such rating.

Want to know what to expect BEFORE you go to the doctor to have a test done? This book will tell you in nauseating detail, over, and over again. It wastes page upon page repeating, word for word, what they do during a blood test.

If you want the OLD names for tests, this book uses them all. If you want to understand the results of your blood tests or any other tests, find another book.

If you want to know what those abbreviations mean in your test results, don't look here, they aren't there.

This book has NO information worth reading at all. I wasted my money and time buying and reading it.

All about medical tests -- in plain English
Like its title states, this book tells you all you need to know about just about medical test. It's clear, straightforward, and filled with helpful information.

Useless
If you want a good UNIX book, buy O'Reilly books. Dont waste your money on these 'basic' books that dont cover the details and are too abbreviated

excellent balance of depth and breadth
instant unix is well paced, and covers enough detail to be useful beyond the introductory level. I have read two other unix books of an introductory level and instant unix is far superior, and very well organized.

A waste of your money
This book did NOT provide any good information for real business people trying to get money for their business. Save your money by NOT buying this!

Disappointing
I bought this book to discover funding ideas for a business I was interested in starting. Unfortunately, I did not find the information I was looking for.

This book is not without merit, but it is not the information source its publishers advertise it to be. There is information for civic groups, minorities, economically challenged people, etc. However, there was not very much information for middle class Americans. I felt it would have been more honest to title the book "Government Funding Sources for Minorities, Economically disadvantaged, and State Goverments."

My advice would be to check it out at your public library first. If you find it useful, then buy it. Otherwise, keep looking.

What a JOKE
I read the reviews and I am florred, this book is HUGE, there is so much information that to be so negative on it only reflects the laziness of the book's reader's, if you want the information and are willing to WORK oh theres that dirty word yes WORK. please, that one reviewer states that he wanted to start a business only to be discouraged by this book, HA I don't buy it, send the letters make the phone calls and you will open new doors, I can't get over the used copies for so cheap this book will cost 5.00 in shipping and handling alone, oh well god bless and have a great life.

Another type of Pigeon Scam
You remember when seniors were being taken for their life savings by someone who claimed to find some money and would share the found fortune with the senior. But the senior had to come up with "trust" money. The scam artist would take the seniors money and never be heard from again.
This is what this book does. I purchased this book for my mother. I hoped it would provide access to free services. It doesn't. You have to be disabled, a vet, living in a rural backwater town in Idaho, with one good eye and 3 missing fingers on your right hand. Okay, so I exaggerated a bit. But you get the drift.
Matthew Lesko is a good pitchman but his products don't live up to the hype.

every bit of info available for free from Goverment agency
This book is a rip off every bit of information is available free of charge from Goverment Agencys, Elected Officials, Public Librarys. And here on the Internet. And Most of what is discussed Has Eligibility requirements Such as being a veteran, Low Income, Disabled, etc.

My parents are happy!
I am not a senior but my parents are. My father is rather difficult to purchase gifts for because I always like to give gifts that are useful. The book, "Free Stuff for Seniors," met my qualifications for a useful gift. My father was especially interested in the section on taking College courses for free. I figure my parents will use the information in the book for years to come.

Windows 95 Api How-To: The Definitive Windows Api Problem Solver

Convenient format, but sloppy and shallow
This book is organized into a series of sections that each present a solution to a very specific Win32 API programming question (e.g., "How do I rotate a bitmap?"). This makes it easy to find what you're looking for, as long as your particular problem is one of the specific simplistic cases covered in this book. Many of the examples seemed to be lifted right out of MSDN. In addition, although this book purports to be Win32-specific, in some cases a 16-bit Windows SDK code sample is used instead of a more appropriate Win32 API function. Some of the solution programs contained bugs.

How To Make Money Without Buying This Book
I'll tell you have to make a quick buck for free. First, write a book with false and misleading information. Second, get a funny coat and run around Washington DC taking like a crazy man about this book and get it on TV. There you have it, an instant money-maker. That's the only money-making SCHEME I learned from this book.

The marketing of this book seems to mislead
If this book had a less sensational name than "Free Money to Change Your Life--" something like, "a guide to government grants to individuals" people would probably approach it with different expectations. Calling it "Free Money..." etc. is clearly going to attract people who want easy money. Getting grant money is not. That said, this reference is valuable in that it gets the word out about funding sources that are available. It is priced reasonably for a reference book of its size, but if you're really looking for "free money to change your life" and you are willing to put in some effort following up on the information and making proposals, a better bet would be to head to the library (or buy for $65) Foundation Grants to Individuals or a similar guide which is updated annually. This is aimed towards a more general audience, and as a place to start, it's worthwhile. I, personally, would suggest looking for it in a library, because even if there are grants that are ideal for your situation, most likely 90% of the information in the book will not apply to you specifically. Not a criticism, it is to be expected in a general reference on funding sources.

Use your Head!
Without even owning the book, I could have stated some of the information given by the other reviewers simply based upon what the book's intentions are in the first place. It should be noted that this book is intended for people in very specific areas, that it is meant to give information on aquiring money for a number of very specific groups. Because one person didn't find a group to fit them does not mean that another person will not; people seem to have an erroneous viewpoint of the book's purpose. If you want free money obtainable for little more than writing to an address (and there are few other places to obtain such addresses, another purpose of this book) then I suggest trying your state's Welfare program. If you're willing to do a little more than put pen to paper, this book shows you how to go about making your work pay off. I live in a very small, rural community and have few aquaintances, of those few at least two (the ones I've spoken to about it) have either gotten money using the information in this book, or know someone who has. The other reviewers seem to be expecting greenbacks to fall out of the front cover when the book is first opened.

read several post l999
I feel the same as your previous review. Info is out dated. Found many refer's. to be non-existant. If material is not annually updated the reader has little access to current phone numbers and orginazation info. I returned my books. (Not bought here.) Totally disappointed. Unless volumes are changed yearly....they have no business being sold for even near original cost. Would take weeks to sift through the info to find even a few sources that may or not may apply. Mr. Lesko is a good salesman. Too bad.Personally, I can find more on the computer or phone book with about as much effort.

Best bet: Sign up for health insurance...
Mr. Lesko has dooped the Medical community and his readers yet again..many sources are obsolete at its publication, many sources are just that: basic information listings such as the address and phone number for free and low-cost informational readings on common diseases for patients and their families...ie. The American Medical Association, the American Cancer Society...yet what I find most bewildering Mr. Lesko is how little you think of your reader's intelligence and practical sense of the world around...We have all dealt with Medical Insurance companies at one time and we have all had the common cold..Please don't offer medical advice or leads if you aren't an M.D. or health-care specialist..Maybe writing advertisements for a used car lot would suit you better...
