We had this book in our house at some point in the early 70's. At a time when we 5 teenagers were in almost daily conflict with our parents, this book was something that we all enjoyed and laughed about together. It helped us to make a connection with them at a time when connecting was not easy. The book disappeared somehow, and we have since tried many times to recall the words to all the "How 'bout them . . ." poems. Some we remembered, and some we debated. Amazon recently found a copy for me just after my father got out of the hospital after a stroke. His memory is spotty now, but when I showed him the book. He immediately started searching for "How 'bout Them Lunch Toters", his personal favorite. Once again, this book helped us to make a connection at a time when connecting was not easy. I've recited the poems to my daughter many times and now I'm glad I'll be able to get the words right.

I discovered this book a few years ago when my mother tossed it at me one day in our living room, thinking I might enjoy it. She remembered what everyone does: the comedy. Granted, this is a funny book. I laughed out loud at the essay about deriving maximum enjoyment from crackers. However, what is overlooked too often in this book is his real poetry, especially his love poems. Works such as "Wanderlove" and (my personal favorite) "Saturday's Night at the World" leave me awe-struck every time I read them. In "Saturday's night at the world" Williams says, "Her eyes seemed to answer the echoing silence from yesterday's asking and waiting and listening for something resembling a song to be sung back to me." These words linger inside my head, repeating over and over. I urge lovers of poetry to find this book. It is beautiful, it is humorous, it is touching, bizarre...everything thrown into one collection of poems, scribblings and pictures.

My sons grew up reciting not "Humpty Dumpty fell off a wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall," but "Hey, you Moose Goosers, Ain't they clods. 'Sittin' around goosin' those ...." and "How about them Toad Hoppers Ain't they Hogs." Sittin around thumpin' those Green Toadie Frogs" This rare book of '60's poetry and prose can be compared to Dylan's satire in his composition of lyrics set to music. The rhythm of the poetry is appealing to all ages and my children would beg for more and more and more. They would confuse some of the text as did I and the message to them was differenct than it was to me. But who cares? It was the very best reading matter around. But it vanished. Maybe the memory is better. The message to me was descriptive of occupations in our society, and how ridiculous the choices seem to be. A Moosegooser. A Toad Hopper. And the description of each follows. I am still looking for a copy. My ex-husband and I discussed who would receive the one copy we had more than who got the Mercedes!

As Siskel and Ebert would have said, 2 thumbs up. It's a great book to learn about the "shores" of Alaska. WTG Dr.Mason

Your right Fort, this is a real good book . Another in a long line of real good books by my favorite Author ""William J. Johnstone.. LOL I wonder how many people could tell right away who wrote this book just by reading it? I often wonder why William wrote this under another name though? Being as most of his books are bestsellers now and have been reprinted quite a few times. Oh well ....

I read this book sometime ago.It gets better each time i read it.Good solid book,all the way.The other book by William mason,is dam good also.(EAGLE DOWN)By the way ,one other thing.The guy writes just like WILLIAM W JOHNSTONE.THAT IS BECAUSE HE IS ONE AND THE SAME.

This book uncovers compelling evidence about the infamous murder that was used as the basis of the movie The Fugitive. As a law student myself, I was pleased with how the book both presents an enrapturing story while, at its core, presenting compelling and convincing legal evidence. This is definitely a must for a summer read.

I have always had an interest in the law and interesting cases so this book was right up my alley. The book erases any doubt about who really did murder Maryln Shepard. The book presented some amazing new evidence about the case and the photos were amazing. A great read for anyone, especially if you have an interest in law and controversial cases.

I was very entertained reading about the trial and re-trial of the century. This book is full of interesting evidence to finally once and for all settle any doubt about the Sam Shepard murder trial. The photos were amazing, and this book is especially interesting for those with an interest in law.

This book is over looked by most people, but if you ever get the chance to read it you will know right away who the Author was. William Johnstone has a style of his own. The other book by this author""Dagger"" is also well worth the search. Both are great books in their own right. But try to find a copy....Good luck.

Often overlooked in favor of the more explicitly political of his contemporaries (most notably, Lu Xun), Shen Congwen's work is richly textured, complex, and lyrical. Shen is a writer who brings the China of his past and present alive without the overburdening and unreal pressure of trying to save it. Nostalgia breathes through his pastoral countryside scenes, and his urban landscapes reveal a fractured, paradoxical consciousness--both unsure and hopeful. In many ways Shen plays the anthropologist to Lu Xun's politically ultra-conscious social engineer. And in this sense he seems more real to a modern reader. He approaches his subjects with less judgment, and with much less baggage. While others try to give life to Chinese society through social change and self-criticism, Shen is more invested in the life that is already there. Certainly he expresses his opinions about many aspects of Chinese culture throughout his stories, but he avoids the beat-you-over-the-head approach. In many cases, it's difficult to really assess what he thinks, which makes exploring his work a more challenging, and satisfying, adventure.

The translations in this edition are smoothly rendered and very readable, although the edition suffers, I think, from its diverse group of contributors. Without a single translator it is difficult to achieve a continuity of style and substance. But all in all this collection is a tremendous addition to the English-accessible literature of modern China. Shen is brilliant and poetic, but in a subtle, understated way. The entire collection is infused with a cocktail of profound nostalgia for the past, hope for the future, and, most of all, the beauty and innocence of the living present.

Exsiting or former users of TMG!, either faculty or students, will recognise the latest version. The basic market model remains the same as do many of the operating procedures but this marketing simulation software now works through a Windows environment and contains many enhancements to improve ease of use. It is a very worthwhile and perhaps overdue update.

One noteworthy feature of TMG! is the modest cost. Unlike some alternative marketing simulations, there is no licence fee. The operating software is supplied with the Instructor version of the manual for TMG!

For all of you who enjoy actuarial and business humor. This would be the book for you. It may have nothing to do with business humor, but does that really matter. Oh, You're so accrual you don't depreciate me anymore.

Mason's client was angry. A rival art dealer had proclaimed a work he had sold was a forgery. He wanted to sue for slander. Mason told him he didn't want to do that. If he did that, the papers would carry the story about the art dealer was accused of fraud. Instead, Mason suggested that the dealer's client sue for devaluing the painting in question.

Everything appears to be going well, with the witness giving her deposition, and art experts authenticating the painting. But then the witness takes a run-out powder, the art critic ends up dead, and Mason is faced with defending a client against a mountain of evidence.

This book is an excellent, and largely unbiased, discussion of CALIBAN (the character from Shakespeare's The Tempest) and traces the evolution of his perception as reflected in literary criticism, culture/politics, theatrical performance (stage and film), poetry, and visual art. An actor myself, when doing research on Shakespeare roles, the most efficient technique I've found is investigation of stage history. Most of the relevant literary criticism has at one time or another been reflected in stage history. Also, stage history is something I find more easily applicable to performance than literary criticism--for obvious reasons. In light of this bias, the only disappointment I had in the book is that I would have liked a longer chapter on stage history. Nonetheless, as the book surveys CALIBAN's history from so many perspectives, one comes away with a strong appreciation of the wide range of exploration available in playing CALIBAN. The numerous black & white figures are an added plus. Finally, any actor playing CALIBAN and hard-pressed to find research time would do well to at least read the chapter on scriptural analysis relevant to CALIBAN and the final chapter, which summarizes the entire book. Directors and designers would benefit from perusal of this text; however, the book does stick fairly close to its subject of CALIBAN, specifically, rather than The Tempest, in general. To close, Shakespearean actors would certainly benefit from more character-specific surveys like this book.
