ONE OF THE MOST READ BOOKS ON SUCCESS FOR LIFE
This book is like nothing else I have ever read. It is so practically simple in its presentation, so logical, and so applicable to life that there is no way everyone reading it won't be "wow-ed" by it at every single chapter. Read it as Mandino recommends: at night before going to bed. Your subconscious mind will absorb the information and suddenly everything becomes clear to you. It's unbelievable. Read it and give it to everyone you know and love. It's an absolutely awesome book, and every chapter is applicable and stands alone, but read it in the sequence it's presented at bedtime. You'll be glad you did. You will not ever think again that anything is impossible. READ IT !!!!

Og Mandino's University of Success
This book was one of the first books I purchased for college. Taking College Success you need this book and you really should read it faithfully. It has alot of insight about everyday issues. I am a mom who just now after 12 years got the chance to return to school and this book has helped me face my fears about the whole college issue. I would recommend this book to any student returning to school..

The God Memorandum

The Greatest Miracle
This is a must have for anyone on a spiritual journey! It will help you have faith in a Higher Power as you understand Him! The entire manuscript is wonderful but the God Memorandum contained within helped me when I was ready to walk away from this miraculous way of life over 10 years ago, one day at a time!

Inspirational
Are we spiritual beings having human experiences? Read the book. I would also recommend the book An Encounter With A Prophet which takes a little different track but is definitely inspirational

Great and Interesting
I personally found this material to be wonderfully done with passon. As for other statements on the narrator, I feel that is poor and *Unprofessional* -- that statement is actually from a local in Mr. Nash's town that wanted to make him look bad. Billy Nash is one of the few people in this world who care about the success and futures of other people. I would highly recommend any of his recordings!

Good 4 the body, mind & soul. Inspiring!
This book, along with many of Mandino's books, will help anyone with low self-esteem, high dreams and expectations, or simple questions about the things that are going on in your life. My grandmother introduced me to Og Mandino with the book "Greatest Salesman in the World" and I read and reread that book. If you are looking for motivation, his books have lots of "advice" that could put you into gear, and go for the goal. Mr. Mandino is a genius. I would love to meet him one day. "The Choice" helped my brother to come to terms with lots of complications in his life. You come to realize that life is how you choose to make it. Other people cannot bring you happiness, you must choose to live a happy life, by your own means.

Og's Last Hurrah!
I've been a big fan of Og Mandino for more than a decade, and have read *everything* he wrote. Unfortunately, this book--his last before his death in Fall 1996--isn't quite up to snuff. A second sequel to his terrific GREATEST MIRACLE IN THE WORLD, this book's first half is really a story recap of MIRACLE and the first sequel, RETURN OF THE RAGPICKER. This material is then followed by the book's most valuable offering--reprints of some hard-to-find success literature, much of it more than a century old. But even then, a part of that is wasted on a reprinting of portions from James Allen's classic AS A MAN THINKETH, which you can find just about anywhere. Ah well... Mediocre Og is better than no Og at all, I suppose. It is sad that this book is his last hurrah--and a half-hearted one

Yes!!!!!
This powerful little book is chock-full of great concepts and teachings that really have the ability to change your life for the better. Really one of the best inspirational books around!!!

Not his best
Even though this book is great by anyone's standards, it is not Og Mandino's best. It is very similar to "The Greatest Salesman in the World" (also by Mandino) but it somehow does not live up to the eternal masterpiece. The story itself is as striking as "Salesman" but the 10 principles are rather lethargically added to the end and do not carry the power of the ones in "Salesman". If you already own "Salesman" this is a worthwhile investment for sure, if not get "The Greatest Salesman in the World" instead. Whichever one you choose it will change your life that I can guarantee.

Ps. Anyone else notice Anthony Robins copies Mandino's principles exactly and makes it more detailed?

Exceptional. It should be required reading in middle school
This book was recommended to me by a friend. I picked it up, read it and shared it with another friend. I immediately went to the bookstore to purchase several other books written by Mandino. Easy, concise and motivational. Those are the three words I used to describe the book when I loaned it out. This was 3 weeks ago. Since that time several people have purchased some of his books via Amazon (unfortunately for me I discovered Amazon.com after I made my purchases!!) as well as at different bookstores. I will recommend this book to all of the young people I know. As a matter of a fact I may purchase duplicate copies and distribute them myself. I believe that this author can make tremendous differences in the lives of all people, particularily those young people that are confused, lost and feeling unimportant!! Thanks to Mandino for great literature!!

The Gift of Acabar
As a sophomore English teacher, I decided to use this simple, yet inspiring book right before the Christmas break because of the star's subtle announcement to Tulo that it had been the same star to stand watch over the stable on Christmas night. We started by reading the first chapter together and then groups took the other chapters, drew overhead transparency pictures of what was happening in their chapters, and told the story to each other. When we got to the chapter entitled "Credenda," I had them stop and write their own "credenda," or words of wisdom. We then published a class set and went on to finish the story. The kids loved the book and it taught them some very important values, as well as helping them to express and internalize their own.

a one-sitting book!!!
I was given this book to read during the first years of my high school life, and boy did this book make an impact on me! It's a tale about a boy struggling in the world of selfish men and chances upon a star, Acabar, which changes the course of his life and his town, with the mysterious gift "Credenda". As the story progresses we see the true colors of men and the shining colors of what is called "true selflessness". This book has reinforced my beliefs that goodness exists in this world despite overwhelming darkness. I read it in one sitting...and I believe you can too!

A must read for people without faith
The Gift of Acabar Og Mandino and Buddy Kaye Reaching for the Skies In a world where only money matters, Og Mandino and Buddy Kaye's "The Gift Acabar" presents a wealthy insight on what kind of stuff life should be made. In a simple story of a boy's struggle to keep his dreams from being destroyed by life's adversity, the authors provide the "Credenda" that sums up life's significance. The use of supernatural element, in the form of a miracle, brought a change in the character's personality. It somehow provides a deeper meaning of the events that took place in his life. In such a young age, the Lapp boy Tulo is faced with great responsibilities. He already lost his parents, who were very close to him. The situation became more challenging when a terrible storm came and he was the one providing a living for his younger sister, Joana. Moreover, the sun leaving Kalvala for over two months ever year makes daily economic living difficult. So goes Tulo's struggle with life. With the star of right beside him to give him hope and guidance, he was able to face the obstacles in his life and touch the lives of the people in their small village. The setting contributes to the purpose of the story - to provide a challenge which would improve a man's character and make him a stronger individual. Tulo underwent the process, got hurt, felt bad, and eventually recovered. The harsh environment also makes an atmosphere where one could feel the misery and unhappiness that affects the story. The coming of the Star Acabar and Star of Lirra literally and symbolically gave light to the people. As an inspirational work, "The Gift of Acabar" teaches the readers that to struggle is the only certain way for anyone to achieve his full potential and that adversity is not a curse, it is a blessing. It 's a good book that will tell the readers that there's always light in darkness. But it would have been better if the writers thought of another way in fixing the conflict. Miracles as performed in the Bible serve to make the people believe in God, not to solve life's difficulties. Inspirational stories make a stronger impact when the people could actually relate to it.

Disappointing
This book was extremely hard to read and appeared to be a bragging platform for the author. The majority of the book is full of the author proclaiming his success through his own words and the words of this mentor. I almost threw the book out the window when reading the passage, "Mister Og...Certainly you are no longer motivated by the need for money. I smiled thinking to myself that he already knew so much about me it was a good probability that he also had a good idea of my net worth." Use your time more wisely and find something more worthwhile to read.

A STORY THAT TOUCHED THE DEPTHS OF MY HEART !
The 4th Og Mandino book I've read and now I'm totally hooked! He is by far my favorite author. His books allow the reader to reach deep inside and find things that they never knew were there. This was probably the best of the 4 that I've read, but I plan to devour them all and hope you will join me. I now find myself constantly asking, Could it be true? Was this truth or fiction? I don't know the answer but I have my own thoughts on the matter. What do you think? It's so nice to read something that is positive and thought provoking such as this book. Once you pick it up, you'll have trouble putting it down, I guarantee! And it's even small enough to take with you wherever you go - just watch the honking horns behind you in that traffic jam when you get so into the story that you forget where you are...

My favorite Og Mandino Book
I cite this book, and this book, only, in my book, The Salami Theory, because I wish that each of us would spend more time as a ragpicker. Simon Potter is a mentor and example for all of us. Og Mandino has sold more inspirational books than anyone because he identifies a need, a corresponding truth, and weaves both in the form of a contemporary, easy-reading story. Those who question his ego, must first examine their own. Mandino has become great because he applied the Biblical principal of "he who humbles himself shall become great." I have benefitted from reading many of Mandino's works. This is the best.
