A reasoned christian response to human sciences
MacKay does a great job of focusing on the important issues and avoiding the extraneous. In a nutshell, the book explores the nature of the human sciences and considers the ramifications of various outcomes on a christian belief system; e.g., what would it mean if humans were shown to be nothing more than automata. Rather than stirring up fear, the author motivates an authentic scientific look at humanity and places human significance not on our intellect or any other physical feature or accomplishment, but rather on the value that our Creator places on humanity. Although the book is dated, the author avoids the specifics of particular technologies and sticks to the issues, which remain timeless.

One of a series of Four
Volume I covers Monoaromatic Hydrocarbons, Chlorobenzenes, and PCB's. Volume II covers Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Polychlorinated Dioxins, Dibenzofurans. Volume III covers Volatile Organic Chemicals (Hydrocarbons, Halogenated Hydrocarbons & Ethers. Volume IV covers Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Sulfur containing compounds (Alcohols, Aldehydes & Ketones, Phenolic Compounds, Carboxylic Acids, Esters, etc. While the series is not comprehensive, it contains invaluable info. If the compound you want is not listed, they suggest you consider the next closest one. Each book contains physical-chemical data for similarly structured groups of chemical substances which influences their fate in the environments of air, water, soils, sediments and their resident biota. Granted this is a compilation of existing data some of which is incorrectly reported, so one must take the "best fit" approach. These books provida a means of having comparison data readily at hand, helping to overcome the problems of identifying errors and estimating properties. This entire series is essential for all environmental scientists & engineers.

Great Introduction To an Often Forgotten Conflict
This book is a great introduction to people wanting to get a basic understanding of the War Of 1812. It is often labeled as the second American revolution due to the second conflict between the United States and England. Great pictures and tidbits about this war make this book a welcome addition to any library. Buy it if you wanna learn more about the War of 1812.

Manhattan's Best Construction Tour
Mr. MacKay has a winner on his hands with this illustrated narrative of how Manhattan was constructed from the ground up. I have purchased this book many times as gifts for friends. It makes a great coffee table book, often spurring conversation. Packed with interesting facts and technical data (made easy to understand for us novices) the book is a must for any one who has a keen interest in the construction development of Manhattan Island. I grew up across the river from Manhattan and worked in the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center. My only regret is that the book is now out of print.
