This is by far the best book I've seen to teach children chess. Like most children's books, it covers the moves of the pieces with algebraic notation.
However, the guts of the book is giving a child systematic experience with the pieces. It starts with the "Pawns Game." Only the pawns are set on the board and each player plays with the goal of getting one pawn through to the last rank. This is anything but a dumb experience. Games like Knights & pawn game follow until the child is using the whole board.

I found this book quick and easy to read with lots of sensible tips for use on board the cruise ship. Macchi knows his way around the ship and explores lots of ways for the new cruiser to have fun and save money. A good book to have with you on a cruise. It was given to me by a close friend and it was the best thing I could have brought on my most recent voyage.

The letters of people 'in the world' are full of the boundless love of an elder, who lived his life in Russia and Finland in the Valaam Monasteries. Skhemaigumen John had a vast correspondence that was collected in the fifties by a small group of people.

The illustrations are nice. This is the best book on this subject...hands down. It should be in every gynecologists library

This book is an easy to use reference book which pulls together the various renderings of the content of Chronicles in other Biblical books. There are charts which succinctly show the emphasis of particular accounts by charting the number of verses in particular books spent on the history of specific individuals. The book makes it easy to study the historical period covered by Chronicals as a single unit rather than the hop-scotching that reading the Bible straight through provides.

Highly recommended for anyone studying Chronicles - whether you call it Tanak or Old Testament.

John William Corrington is one of the South's finest, if largely unknown, writers. His prose is exquisite and he is a masterful storyteller. His ability to get a story underway and keep it moving equals anything we find in today's action-oriented writers.

Corrington is also worth reading because he was an awfully interesting man (and it shows in his writing). He began his career as a professor of English at LSU and soon began to make his way as a poet. He befriended Charles Bukowski and they carried on an extensive correspondence before they had a falling out that ended the relationship (Bukowski wasn't much for loyalty to friends and he was no better with Corrington than so many others). Corrington published several collections of poetry, but he eventually gave up poetry to write serious fiction. Corrington's first novel, And Wait for the Night (set in the closing days of the Civil War and the early days of reconstruction) is a beautiful, if painful, story and marked Corrington's skill and craft as a writer. While Corrington's novels are all worth reading, in particular And Wait for the Night and a later novel, The Bombbardier, it is in his short fiction that Corrington reveals his greatness.

Corrington took up screenwriting (for Roger Corman) and gave up his academic position. At age 40 he took up the study of law and practiced law in New Orleans for three years. After his first exposure to law, Corrington began to feature lawyers and judges in his fiction. There are six (quite long) short stories in The Collected Short Stories of John William Corrington which are law-related and they are, in my opinion, some of his strongest writing. A reading of any one of these legal stories is enough to suggest that Corrington was a great master and deserves far more attention that he has received to date. In my view, Corrington produced in these law-oriented short stories, and in two novellas collected in All My Trials (University of Arkansas Press, 1987) some of the best legal fiction of the 20th century.

Corrington's work and life are more fully explored in two recent symposium issues of the Legal Studies Forum (Volume 26, 2002).

Corrington is a fine writer and I highly recommend his work.

I just loved this book. I've been a bridesmaid so many times and have had to make toasts and say "a few words" on many occasions. I just wish I had had this book ten years ago. Some of the toasts actually brought tears to my eyes. It's truly a reference book that's written with heart, passion, and humor. I recommend it to anyone who needs to come up with a meaningful speech for anniversaries, weddings, any emotion-filled life event.

This is the most complete and accurate book to entail the essence of what Joe Pilates wanted to accomplish with his brand of movememnt and exercise. In addition, I was able to find more of his exercises not utilized by my teachers or training as a pilates instructor. I believe that this will be a welcome addition to any library.

It's not a textbook, yet might be used as one. It's not exactly a monography, yet ex-post may be considered as one. "Contestable Markets..." is a detailed exposition of a consistent theory of market structure and its determinants. In fact, it's built upon innovative work of late 70s and early 80s that not only provided a new set of tools for examining imperfect market structures, and natural monopoly in particular, but also provided (de)regulatory institutions with much needed theoretical agenda in the 80s.

It is an essential reading for anyone specializing in the field of Industrial Organization. Parts of the book may be of use for the advanced microeconomics course.
