This was a quick book to read, but I really didn't enjoy it. It was about a boy who had some form of cancer. In order to get rid of the cancer, the doctor prescribed an experimental drug that they had never used on anyone before. It then caused Fred, the main character, to have superhero powers. To me this book shows, to young readers, that if you have cancer, you can have super hero powers and save the world. I know it is only a book and not all books are true, but this book made it seem like it was real life. Maybe to some, this book shows that if you think you can, you can. It could also show that even if you do have cancer, Chemo won't make you incapable of doing the things you like to do. That's why I will be putting this on my list.

This book was pretty good. The reason it was good is because it was about a boy with a rare disease. It showed how he overcomes all the problems he had to face in having the disease. He still had a girlfriend too, so he had to keep that relationship going while he was practically living in the hospital. He gets pulled in to a type of nature-loving group that fights pollution that his girlfriend is involved with. And it starts showing the whole story uncover while he goes on adventures with his girlfriend as they try to stop pollution.
The Chemo Kid -B.D.S.
Freddy is a nice, versatile, and is self confident. He has alot of confidence, and faith in his self.
Freddy has cancer and through his medication he becomes a superhuman.Which he learned he could do things he could never do before he had the powers.
The reason I think someone else should read this book is because it may teach them how you never know when something bad may happen. So you should always be aware.

James is too full of himself..
Parts of this book, esp where he discusses the aesthetic value of cricket are tolerable. Otherwise, most of the book is about trying to tell the reader what an intellectual James is. I'm afraid this book is less about cricket and more about James. He's too full of himself and that diminishes the value of what could have been a great book.
Also, the writing leaves a lot to be desired.

Roller coaster read
James' excellent volume takes the reader on a wild ride through the history of cricket and, in particular its influence on West Indies social and political development. I say a wild ride since the reader is never sure where the book is headed as it weaves through autobiographical, biographical, historical, sociological, humanist and political arenas as it proceeds to its, finally, satisfying conclusion. James' thesis of cricket as a determining factor in the development of the West Indian psyche is interesting and well presented. As an overview of cricket's spot in the world's firmament, it takes a valuable place.
An Earth-Shattering Book
James's "Beyond a Boundary" is one of the finest literary works of the twentieth century. It asks questions that go to the heart of the human condition: where do democratic ideas come from? How does one strive towards self-emancipation in a totalitarian world? What tools may dismantle colonialism and neo-colonialism? What is the relationship between art and everyday life? Oh, and there's the social and cultural analysis of cricket, and how this endeavor fits into the larger picture. "Beyond a Boundary" is often referred to as the founding text of postcolonialism. It is more, far more. A caveat is in order, however. One cannot rush through this book. Take time to digest the ideas. A background in the history of the West Indies is also helpful

I thought that The Chief was a pretty good book.
Robert Lipsyte gets you interested in the characters and their journey towards the heavyweight boxing championship. I also liked the book because Sonny Bear, a young boxer, doesn't give up on his dream to become the champ, despite being judged by his Indian heritage. One aspect of the book that I didn't like was that there were too many characters at some points in the book and it was hard to follow them all.
i did this for you ms b.
I liked this book it was really interesting in that it told how Sonny Bear the main character on his journey to the heavyweight championship.
Great book
I really liked robert Lypsyte's book The Chief. It really gave me a feel for the characters. It also made all of these emotions towards the characters surface, which I really like in a book. The author makes you have feelings for the characters. He makes you really want the characters to either succeed or fail, but there is not any room for an "I don't care" character. All in all I think everyone should read this book, because it is truly an example of great writing.
