Not worth the paper it's written on
Not what I would call a well written book.

Not even what I would call a factual book.

That being said, I'd suggest that if Richard Ramirez fascinates you, and you wish to learn more about him and the crimes that he committed pick up a copy of Philip Carlo's book "The Night Stalker: the life and crimes of Richard Ramirez". Carol's book is a much better documented account of Ramirez, due in part, because Carlo actually interviewed Ramirez numerous times.

If you really don't care that the information is correct or you just want a macabe story to read, then by all means, get this book. Otherwise, buy Carlo's book, you'll be happy you did.

Night Stalker a Review
A hispantic man in the Los Anglos area goes around killing people. He tortures, mutilates and kills many innocent people for his own pleasure. He does this things to "please Satan". He makes his victems swear to satan that they won't scream. Richard Rameriez is the killer. He leaves the pentagon (a satanic symbol) in each victems house. His man target is Asian people. He only does these things to the people in a one story house and that live close to a highway. When he is caught he admits to his crimes and he feels no remorse for what he has done. He is proud of what he has done.

Great book to read
The Night Stalker has the tendency to keep you on the edge of your seat. There's no way possisble to not finish this book. You will learn more about what happened in LA in this one book than anywhere else. It is very detailed in what had happened to all his victims and it puts you in the victim's families place. I highly recommend this book but only if you're into true crime.

one of the worst of the genre
Having read between 60-100 true crime books, including three onGacy, I feel qualified to critque this. The book simply skims thesurface in a shameful tabloid manner. The two other Gacy books, Buried Dreams & Killer Clown, were far superior in quality and mass. Gacy was a despicable human being, but even he deserved a better biography than this. This book doesn't offer much more than a few good photos. If it's information you are seeking, then I recommend Buried Dreams by Tim Cahill w/ Russ Ewing. Gacy wasn't a very interesting man to begin with, you could see through him like cellophane. He was sadistic, childish, and ignorant. I corresponded with him for a while and I would not only suggest skipping this book, but I would also recommend finding a better subject to read about. Try Randy Kraft, Jeffrey Dahmer, Dennis Nilsen or Gary Gilmore. Now Ian Brady, there's a sick mind worth exploring!

Only touches the surface.
Linedecker's description of the events as they were portrayed in the media is accurate and complete. Trouble is, it appears he simply went to all the old newspaper articles to cull the information he needed. He also managed to go through police reports. But this books is scant on first person interviews. All the quotes in the book appear to have been taken from newspapers. The book follows an easy narrative, one that is logical and continues to move forward. I agree with another reviewer's comment that the narrative at times is homophobic. But that's not surprising from a book originally published in 1980. While this book is lacking in content, it should not be ignored by those who are interested in Gacy. It at least provides a perspective of how the horrific events of the murders were revealed, as well as the typical nonchalance police exhibit when confronted with missing teen reports.

Not that bad
While not as good as Buried Dreams or Killer Clown, which go into much greater detail about the entire story, this book had some details that I had not known when I read the other books many years ago. A lot of info on gacys neighbors, friends and mostly, some of his victims stories that were not as well publicized as the other unfortunate kids.

Fascinating Subject, Talentless Author
When I quickly thumbed through "The Vampire Killers", I couldn't wait to read it as homicides and vampires are two of the subjects I find to be the most fascinating. Sadly, I was extremely disappointed. Don't get me wrong -- the idea of a teenage vampire cult leader is startling, beyond wicked -- but Linedecker, being the talentless oaf that he is, managed to bore me half to death with his uninspiring, unmoving content. Thankfully, there are other authors out there who manage to do a decent job of writing about the stories that Linedecker ruins all together. If you'd like an interesting view of the Wendorf murders, then ditch this book and read "The Embrace" by Aphrodite Jones instead.

info on teh case is good but incomplete
Being an avid reader of both vampires and true crime, I picked up this book with great interest. My fave TV series" Forever Knight" is mentioned twice in passing, which gives you an indication of the half-done research done here. Basically the author goves an overall good synposis of what happened, but omitted ( as I found out in other books) some info, such as the possible emotional shock of one of the four accused of the murders.

Background info, such as cult mind thinking and exactly WHY the group went as far as they did is not looked into here. It is an okay resource into the case, but incomplete.

Vampire Killers
I have to say that I remember this sad story like it happened yesterday. This is a very good book with alot of accurate information. I am going to have my 15 year old daughter read, so she will know that you really have to stay alert on who you hang out with. I read about 2-3 books a week (all on True Crime) and I find it hard to put this book down.

Marcia Clark: The Couragous Woman
Marcia Clark: Her Private Trials and Public Triumps, by Clifford L. Linedecker takes an exclusive look at one of the greatest lawyers involved in the Case of The People v.s O.J. Simpson.

One of the key attorney's in the "Trial of the Century" was Marcia Clark. Ms. Clark was on the case from day one. When the evidence against O.J. Simpson begain to pile up she began to work stagities to convict O.J Simpson. Clark along with her male counterparts worked 3/4 days trying to put all of the pieces together. Her plan going into the case was to show that O.J. had a history of abusing Nicole Brown, and stalking Ronald Goldman. Although Marica did a great job on the Case against Simpson her Private life turned public, and allowed her enemies, and the greedy, tastless, tabloid press take advantage of there personal demintions. Marica's ex husband decided to try and take her son away from her in the middle of the trial. Although she prevailed it cause her great pain that never went away. And if that was not enough there were rumors the she and Christoper Darden were sleeping together. The press had a field day trying to unjustly denounce Marcia Clark.

In spite of her greatest attempts to convict O.J. by using her "mountain of evidence" the evidence proved to be fallible. The defense proved that her case surrond reasonable doubt. For example; the viedo tape played by Johnnie Cochran showed the jurors that the bloody socks were not located by the foot of the bed 15 min. before the police "discovered them". Question. How could the socks be at the foot of the bed, when we see that they were not there 15 minutes before? What about the racism of Mark Furhman. She was told about his racist past and she chose to ignore it, then blame the defense for playing the "race card". Why did she not investigate Mr. Furhman, as she was asked to do? Somebody planned evidence. There was reasonable doubt that forced the jury to aquit O.J. Simpson. The law states that if there is reasonable doubt, you must aquit the acuse! That is the Law, not a race issue!

terrible journalism
Full of errors. You wonder if the author did any basic reporting himself or just re-wrote random news stories. Plus, what's with all the cliches?

Do Not Bother
I was very dissappointed in this book. I think the author did not do his homework. Please get the facts straight before you tell the public what you think happened.

Interesting
Maybe "some" facts are incorrect but if this is the way to geta problem before the public I think it is worth it. I was amazed at so many incidents I had never heard of. If it gets people to read it, & even critisize it, it is still doing a usefulness to the public. If it alerts one person to see some of these signs in any child and reports it in time to save a life I say good for the author!

LIARS CLUB
Although the stories of other inmates were extremly interesting, I cannot help getting the impression that Mr. Taylor was lieing about his own accounts. He periodically put other inmates down saying they were not strong, cool, or street wise as he was, yet everyone else seem to have a better deal than he did. My oppinion of Taylor is, assuming all the stories are true in his book, that he is bitter and is putting down the system that probably saved his life. Even though no one knows for sure, I classify this book fiction. Sorry.

Decent...... but lacking
It is a decent book, the author has put quite a bit of research into it. But he stuffed it with superfluous words, as I am doing, to make his word count and page mumber increase. he repeats himself constantly, and dwells on unnecessary information. A decent book for a pleasure read, but not too usefull for research.
