A quick spur of the moment wedding that I had waiting for my entire life, this book was wonderful in setting your own themes and using creativity in a new non-traditional way. The types of weddings we choose vary and so do our tastes. I won't say this book saved my life but it did give me a more grounded reality of how I could adapt the wedding to my "our" tastes and also gave contact information on various venues. Very helpful.

This is one of the best books for an AFROCENTRIC WEDDING! I only wish that it wasnt outdated. I love this book!

While the author has some good ideas for start-up businesses, she is behind the times. Keep in mind it was most recently published 6 years ago. Read it to get ideas, but don't count on it to reflect current trends. According to the author, typing, word processing, old school computer languages, and pagers are all in hot demand.

I saw that the first two reviews listed here are for the old edition of this book! The new edition, just released last month, is completely updated. Here are just some examples covering virtually every established and emerging field, including the Internet: Internet marketing, designing web pages, ecotourism, gourmet food shop or producer, take-out restaurateur, adult day services provider, play gym operator, home health care provider, personal chef, dating service provider, B&B innkeeper, craft wholesaler, "whodunit" producer, party planner, and the list goes on and on. Each entry gives a complete behind the scenes look and relays success stories from real entrepreneurs, with verbatim comments and must-know secrets about every aspect of running the business. The introductory chapter gives you all the nuts and bolts information about how to succeed as an entrepreneur with topics like the positive character traits of entrepreneurs, and info about generating capital, business plans, finding lawyers and bookkeepers and bankers, marketing, working from home, finding and keeping employees, and more.

Whether you are trying to remember names, phone numbers, dates, appointments, lists, or other items it is easy once you have mastered the techniques presented here. While there are no new techniques presented, it does provide an overview of the various memory methods (loci, peg, phoenetic, etc.) and how each one is used. There is one difference in the phoenetic method presented here and the method as traditionally taught. The method taught here is easier to use with lists of less than a hundred items but would be more complex with larger lists. Still it is an interesting variation. This is not instant memory, but does provide the listener with the tools and techniques to remember anything you have a desire to recall. Within ten days you can gain enough knowledge to have a substantially better memory. If you are serious enough to master the techniques then they will serve you the rest of your life and you will be sure to stun others with your ability to recall just about anything you want to remember.

If you own a dog this book will help with the day to day care of your best friend. Even long time pet owners will find useful information in this book.

Why would a movie store make a movie guide? They sell videos so don't you think there reviews would be a little one sided. I found them giving high ratings to Killer Klowns from Outer Space and such. It didn't even review many movies made before 1940. I guess those movies are just not very marketable. One good note is the rather large actor index. I would take Leonard Maltin over Blockbuster.

The blockbuster guide is worth it. It is at least better than Maltin's. His reviews are extremely critical and closed-minded. I also recommend a Cd-rom guide to movies & videos that blockbuster released, it is a fun way to search for a movie. To be honest, check out Martin & Porter's Video Movie Guide 1999 before you make a final decision, its the best.

Thank god I got this at the library...and took it back the next day. This book had the nerve to even suggest reading backwards as a time saver. Not even worth pulling off the shelf. I have looked at several speed reading books and this by far is the worst...pure garbage. Check it out for a good laugh!

After reading the previous review I felt compelled to offer my view.
This book uses some of the same principles as the "Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics" (tm) program.
If you want to increase your reading speed, this is an economical alternative to taking the course.
I have purchased and read this book and the principles taught are sound (i.e. they work if given a chance). If you would like to read 1,500 words per minute or more then get this book or one like it and practice, practice, practice.

I have found this dictionary very frustrating in that I cannot find even common words in it or that the definition given is not the most common one. As a new Spanish student, I will use this dictionary first because it is lightweight and portable, but constantly I end up using my desktop dictionary because this one didn't have what I was looking for. I am ready to toss it and buy a different pocket version.

We live in the Dominican Replubic and this dictionary did not contain many of the words we need to communicate or read the newspaper. Even our Spanish teacher found it was incomplete.

This portable dictionary is useful for first and second year students working at their desks, but should be supplemented in the classroom by a more comprehensive resource.

This book is a big disapointment. The begining chapters have some useful information, but much of it can easily be found on the web. The 220 franchises they list have no supporting information on why they're the best. The information they provide seem like condensed versions of the franchisor's flyers.

I was hopping to get a book containing information on 220 franchises that had been rated "best" by some criteria. This book does not attempt to do that. It gives pretty good information on 220 franchises, but it makes no claim that they are best by any standard.

In the introduction to the information on the 220 franchises, the book states the franchises "..represent a wide variety of franchise opportunities. Chosen to provide a sampling of the many types of franchising opportunities available...".

This is not what the title leades the buyer to expect and is not what I wanted to buy.

The first section of the book provides good basic council if you are early in the process. The majority of the book lists franchise opportunities by category. This may be very helpful in narrowing down what might be appealing based on individual preferences.

This dictionary, though simple to use, is missing far too many necessary words to be of any use to even a beginning student of German. I showed the book to my German teacher, and he advised throwing it away.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the most annoying problem with this dictionary is its limited vocabulary. The cover boasts 30,000 vocabulary entries, but they are most certainly not sufficient for anyone who wishes to communicate successfully in German. It is designed to be easy-to-read, with larger-than-normal print and plenty of white space, but I rather wish they had made the text a couple of sizes smaller and filled the extra space with useful vocabulary. It's also rather silly to give childish phonetic pronunciations for every word in the dictionary, since German is, in most cases, very phonetic and easy to pronounce in the first place. Conspicuously absent is some sort of section on irregular verb conjugation, such as can be found in many other similar dictionaries.

I bought this dictionary for the express purpose of helping me (before I gain proficiency in German) read philosophical discourses which make use of untranslated words in German (these are very common). Sadly, this dictionary seems to have none of the words that I've needed. Even the simplest of expressions, like the Erlebnis, are wholly absent from this dictionary (as far as I can tell... unless this dictionary has a "secret compartment" where all its more useful words are waiting, somewhere beyond the ken of those of us trapped in a merely phenomenological existence...)

Perhaps it's useful for people who want quick reference while travelling through Germany... however I have doubts even about this as (in the English section) I couldn't even find words that I KNOW exist, like the equivalent of "good bye"...

In sort- it's frustrating. But maybe there are SOME that could make use of it, and so (since I'm a charitable sort) I'll give it 2 stars instead of 1...
