Badly written book
There is an enormous amount of detail in some apparently unimportant topics (for example on how to get a green card for your maid) and very little on very important ones (for example on labor certification). The topic of labor certification is a subsection in the chapter for "Live-In Domestic Workers" !

This book may be good if you are trying to get a green card for your maid, though.

mahfouz in usa
i wish going to usa to be with my brother hosam

Shows your options and helps to make decisions
I believe this book may be of interest to many readers.
First of all, it explains how visitors from abroad can legally prolong their stay in the USA. It's possible to apply for an extension of one's visitor's status without leaving the USA. And this book guides well through this procedure.
Secondly, those who are interested in applying for a green card, should find the most suitable category if they want to succeed. The book describes qualifications and outlines the application process for each of them.
Many people don't know that they may be inadmissible for one or another reason even if they otherwise meet all the green card applicant requirements. Someone already in the US, and still may not be allowed to proceed if he or she falls into one of the inadmissible categories - as a violator of immigration rules in the past or for health reasons, for example. Some people find this out only after passing a medical exam. But you may want to learn about the regulations in advance. The book covers this issue in detail, including who and how can apply for a waiver of inadmissibility.
Another sensitive chapter is on cancellation of deportation. How and in what cases this may be done...
Also, you'll find some important information on how and who is eligible to claim status as a refugee or political asylee.
In all, I think the book is pretty informative and filled with practical advice. It's also easy to read and understand.

Why did I buy this
The problems in this book are filled with silly politically correct examples, even to the point of misinformation. In the future I am going to stick with boy scout materials. I would hate to meet the little monsters that this kind of book would help develop.

Social-emotional learning
This book is definately a plus for educators and requires adult facilitation, especially for the younger range. We use this book, along with the leader's guide (5 stars!) as a tool in our violence prevention curriculum in an after-school setting. Perhaps it's too "politically correct" to teach kids to respect each other and include others to build frienships, and to be reflective on their own behaviors, but some kids need to hear this message.

A "How-To" to help kids develop their character
Character education is a hot topic, and this book provides activities and resources that educators can easily adapt for use in the classroom. At our school, we began to develop our own program and were looking for a way to continue our activities.

What I liked best about this book was its emphasis on having the child evaluate his or her own character, and then selecting those "character muscles" to develop further, such as caring, fairness, honesty, etc. It also included several self-assessments for the child to complete that help in determining strengths and areas for improvement. Our school plans to use this book as a resource for teachers and students this coming year, and we look forward to the release of the Leader's Guide.

I'd rate it 5 stars for educators, but fewer stars for parents. While its activities are certainly adaptable in either setting, I wonder how effective it would be for a parent to work from a book in teaching a child about character. I prefer stories to read with your child and then discuss. This seems too academic for home use. Would be interested to see what parents think who've used this.

Health Behavior and Health Education: Theory, Research, and
As I waded through this textbook I at first felt that I had selected the wrong book for my teaching needs. The book is generally a review of current literature in the field of Health that would be an excellent resource for a graduate student who is about to tackle their thesis or dissertation. Contained within the chapters of this book is an extensive overview of what already exists in the field and certainly would be useful in helping a graduate student begin his or her research. This book would also be useful in helping a student who may be searching for a topic to study and research that may have been previously studied but then was found to be needing further work or follow-up. Upon completing the book I realized that although not necessarily perfect for my current needs of working with middle and high school students, it did provide support for things I am doing with them in my classes and broadened my scope as a health educator by making me think in terms of my role in school health education as compared to the roles of other health researchers and practitioners.

Theory based research
This text is a comprehensive review of health related theories. It provides the reader with anlayses of several health behavior theories and extensive bibliographies. To the student who is interested in health behavior research, this text is an important first step because it gives many examples of how specific theories, concepts and constructs are used in research studies.

I was very disappointed in this book. The information I read on the back cover was not what was actually presented in the book. Do not waste your money.

Not For Non-Christian Families
Ms. Lewis wastes no time pushing her beliefs. She tells young readers the protagonist's hero is David Robinson, the basketball player but he is no ordinary basketball player. David Robinson
is a Christian. All her books work in Sunday school, Church and
Thank God's. None of which would be offensive if the covers of her books were just up front about it.
