"If you are beginner"
If you are beginner and want to use wordperfect 9 for dailly use, this book is just for you. It starts from bottom and take the reader strait trough the end. Tools and technics in this text processor are described in enough detail so it will not be confusing even for total beginner (for 'dummies', remember). Perhaps there is insuficient info about different file formats (.txt, .rtf, etc), but that is acceptable for this level of knowladge. If you have experiance in some other text processor, you will probably find your self comfortable within WordPerfect.

Recommended for use in college comp. sci. courses!!!
As a tutor at a fairly sizable university, I have encouraged many of my students (especially "adult students") to use this and other Dummies books to help them get a grip. While WP 6.1 is simple for many of us, folks without some PC time under their belts see it as a different language! This book will allow them to at least be able to communicate with others in the campus computer lab

Good, but could be better
This book is okay, but it could definitely be better. For a basic statistics class, this book contains WAY too much information to digest in a semester of college. No professor I know of has ever gotten past chapter 8. Further, the problems are quite wimpy as far as the amount of thought required for them. Quite wimpy. Could be better. The only good thing is that for doing it on a spreadsheet, the data comes on a CD, so that you don't have to re-type it, thankfully.

This is one of the best business statistics book
This book is used in the course of Business Statistics at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. This is a useful and understandable book. The questions are well-prepared.Also,the statistics program PhSTAT is given with this book. I advise you to buy.

Statistics for Managers Using Microsoft Excel
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall College Div (2002)
Author: David M. Levine
Amazon base price: $117.33
Average review score:

Bring on the confusion and mistakes
A worse textbook I have not seen. It's riddled with mistakes and misprints. The authors should be ashamed. The examples are virtually impossible to follow. Unfortunately, most students don't have a choice but if you do go with Statistical Techniques in Business and Economics (Mason, Lind & Marchal).

Not bad, I guess...
There is a newer edition out. However, the good thing about this one is the fact that they got a good Excel Section.

Nothing to do with Excel or How To
Don't let the title mislead you: Statistics for Managers Using Microsoft Excel (Student Solutions Manual) has almost nothing to do with Microsoft Excel. This book is useful IF and only if you are using it as a companion to the Statistics for Managers Using Microsoft Excel text book in a statistics class.

The book provides ANSWERS. It does not provide any how-to; it does not provide any Excel formulas/etc. But is does provide the answers to all of the even-numbers problems in the companion text book. That's the only reason it got as much as a "3 stars" rating from me -- it was helpful for feedback.

still a dummy after buying this book
It was difficult to understand this book. People who are new to computers need a book that is written in non computer language. It helped me figure out how to set up a spreadsheet, but I still don't know how to undisable my toolbar so I can cut and paste. A lot of the terminology is not explained. This does not help the novice to understand what is going on. I think the way the book is set up is very confusing. It seems scattered to me and I had to skim through the entire book to find the references I wanted. I am taking a computer class for teachers now and I am still confused when I use this book. My instructer had to point out that the graphics in the book actually related to the computers tool bar.

The Redemption of Althalus
Published in Digital by Del Rey ()
Authors: David Eddings, Jaime Levine, and Leigh Eddings
Amazon base price: $7.99
Average review score:

Read the worst of David & Leigh Eddings
I have been a die hard fan of David Eddings since I laid my hands in Pawn of Prophecy. I got Althanus as a gift because I told everyone to read Eddings, I was very happy when I saw it, because here in Chile where I live, is very dificult to came up with a book like this. Anyway, first thing a noticed once I started reading: is this Althanus character The Belgariad's Silk (Prince Kheldar)?, ..... I continued...Is that Polgara in the House at the End of the World?.....I could go on, I think you get my point, the characters are the same as in the other book(wich are still graet). The only good thing about this book, is that it's David's and Leight's Eddings...I wont stop liking them for one downfall, I stiil have the Belgariad, Malloreon, Tamuli, Elenium, Polgara, Belgarath and the Rivan Codex the thank them for, but this Althanus mmmm.. not their best, I gave them three stars so they can try to go back to the old books, and perhaps take a litlle more time and review their work and improve the characters before hand... My Advise: But this book to support the autors.

Great Book!
A surprise to me, after reading and re-reading the Belgariad books. I was prepared to hate it, as it did not have the same characters, but instead I found myself wishing the book wouldn't end. Loved it!

Solid Book
After having read all of David Eddings other books and for the most part enjoying them, I found myself faced with the pleasure of reading the redemption of althalus. This book is by far my favorite of all of his books. the main character is an absolute riot to follow through his many adventures and his supporting cast is well developed and enjoyable to read about as well. It was a nice change of pace to finnally get away from Belgarion. Perhaps the best praise i can give this book is that it has quickly become my favorite from amongst the eddingses publications and i have thoroughly enjoyed them all.

Save your money
If you are a programmer and in a hurry to implement your own graphics filter then don't buy this book. Its treament of the various formats is essentially devoid of any examples and detail. A very superficial book with large fonts a "buttons" fulfilling the need to ensure bulk to the book at the expense of content. There is no CD with example coding and decoding examples, very very few tables of giving a graphical view of the file structures. In short it is a poorly presented and poorly written book...hardly worth $10 rather than the $25 they are asking....Go by the O'Reilly book Encyclopaedia of Graphics Formats...expensive for sure but it has what this book lacks and that is content.

Quick introduction to JPEG/JFIF
I needed a book for a quick and slightly detailed introduction to JPEG/JFIF file formats. This book fit the bill!
