Goddam Gypsy
Here is a secret world, a hidden world, forgotten and ignored by most North Americans. Ronald Lee tells a wonderful, poignent autobiographical tale of life in Canada as a gypsy, or Rom, as they are correctly called. He tells of the joy of their lives, as well as the despair and discrimination faced by Roms over the decades. Well worth reading, most enjoyable and enlightening.

Caveat on PDA Software
This is a critique on packaging not content. The "PDA" software that comes with the book is for "PalmOS 3.5 and higher". This is unforunately not mentioned in the description here or even at the publisher's site. It's not on the book either and can only be see on the disk after breaking the wrapper.

PDA version of Essence of Anesthesia Practice
The PDA version is not compatible with Palm OS 5 despite the statement "for Palm OS 3.5 and higher". The publisher's comment was an unhelpful statement confirming this incompatibility.
Intending purchasers of the PDA version should be informed of this clearly in the promotional material.

Great problematic systemic anesthesia assistance
I purchased this book for my husband. He has been a CRNA for 20+ years. He has found this book to be an excellent source of information. By having individual systemic problems on each page with the review of problems, it's causes, and anesthesia implications; this book makes it easier in formulating your anesthesia plan. For the numerous varieties of problems that patients display, having something like this is great for any medical library.

Book that dosn't make sense
This book is one of the worse I ever see representing the mathematics for physics, the mathematics and the physics both was not explained as it should, the authors are not familiar at all with the concept of physics make their material in the book related to this subject unclear and vague. The book has too many gaps as I see it has too many jumps when a physical phenomena represented using mathematics. Physical concept was most of the times not even mention, and I believe that the author should stick only with mathematics since they try to explain physics they don't really familiar with.

I agree with the reader from CAL
The book skip too many steps and most of the time, the equation is presented without explanation...Don't waste money.

A solid introduction to PDEs
The book contains an introduction to a variety of topics in applied partial differential equations presented from the modern perspective. The emphasis is on classical equations of mathematical physics and their applications. The authors succeed in blending general results, like existence, uniqueness, and regularity, with various methods of constructing explicit solutions. Among the highlights is the lucid introduction to free boundary problems. The book is invaluable for any practitioner using PDEs to solve real world problems.

Disappointing, waste of time
For those wanting to learn about the ropes of investigative journalism, this book will prove disappointing. It features interviews with so called famous investigative journos, such as John Camp - whose reportage apparently brought down evangelist Jimmy Swaggart, Sydney Schanberg (The Killing Fields) etc. This should have proved fascinating reading, but this doesn't come through. For starters, it fails to recap the stories written by these journalists. So in the feature of John Camp, it describes vaguely that he uncovered the seedy money trail to Jimmy Swaggert, but fails to convey the excitement of how he broke the news, what the stories were, and how he did it. Second, the "stories'' are in question and answer format. This would be fine, except that some questions are seriously inane. For example, "do you have researchers to help you'', and worse, "do you use computer records in researching a story'' ? For those who want to be inspired about investigative journalism, reading Woodword and Bernstein in "All the President's Men'' would offer far greater insights. On the other hand, this book, while having the potential to be gripping, has turned out to be dry and boring. It had the opportunity to mine some great journalists on their biggest scoops. All it succeeded in doing was ask questions that elicited little value added. I don't care two hoots about whether they use computers. I would expect that few who pick up this book to learn about investigative journalism would.

Investigative journalism from behind the word processor
"Raising Hell" is a collection of interviews with notable investigative reporters. The length of these talks give these journalists plenty of space to describe how they go about their work, which can take them from Vietnam and Cambodia (Sydney Schanberg, whose story was the basis for the movie "The Killing Fields") to the Boeing beat in Seattle (Byron Acohido, who won a Pulitzer for his coverage). Also interviewed are Gerald Posner, whose book on the JFK assassination, "Case Closed," is a brilliant and readable defense of the Warren Commission; conservative advocate David Brock, author of "The Real Anita Hill"; and John Camp, whose stories about Jimmy Swaggert led to the televangelist's downfall. Journalists interested in learning more about the investigative side of their profession will find this worth reading.
