I thought the book was absoulutly thriling.
I think the book 'Alien Enciclopedia" is the best book I've ever read.It has everythink about real aliens,t.v. aliens, alien investigations such as Telly tubbies,Mulder and Scully,The Blob,Mr Spot I like the book because it has a great way of making pictures in you're head of aliens.Every second of the book fills you with more and more imformation.Andrew Donkin is my second best author because he has such a creative mind.'Alien Enciclopedia' is the best book I've ever read.Soon as I picked the book up I could not put it down. The reason I liked the book is because it was about aliens and was one of those books where there was no boaring bits.It just increased better and better. The book doe's not scare me and I don't intend to be scared but the illustrations are very spine chilling.I think the illustrations are increasingly amazing!I would recomend this book to people who are into astronomy and like to be suprised!Andrew Donkin has met my class and me and I think he is a top ten author!Plus,I think the illustrations are top ten to!I have read 'Bugman' which is another book Andrew Donkin wrote and I'd give that book seven out of ten.Alien Enciclopedia is the best book in the U.K... Thats what I think any way!!!!!!! Like I say again Andrew Donkins book'Alien Enciclopedia is the best book I've ever read and I wish him well in the future! The next book Andrew Donkin writes I will certainly buy it.

Backing Down The Ladder

Fleming's poetic perspective challenges the norm
Andrew T. Fleming's "Backing Down the Ladder" offers at once a humerous and serious approach to life's most difficult issues: careers, relationships, and community. His poetic voice is not only strong, but also unique. Moreover, his careful attention to diction, rhythm, and imagery creates both an accessible and entertaining style. Furthermore, Fleming's main theme of "backing down the(corporate)ladder" truly challenges his reader's notions of their satisfaction with their own careers. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone struggling with a career decision or anyone that merely enjoys poetry. I would also highly recommend reading "vegetable Love"...it's one of the best poems in the book!

Big Cats
This 80-page book is filled with amazing photographs of big cats. It provides an over-view of big cat anatomy, and goes on to explain the individual characteristics of the major big cat species, from tigers to bobcats to ocelots. I also just love the variety and beauty of the pictures.

Cezanne (Famous Artists Series)

An introduction to the work of the Father of Modern Art
This Famous Artist book by Antony Mason serves as an introduction to the life and work of Paul Cezanne. These books are organized in a particular way for each two-page spread: On the left page there is an illustration of the artist's home or environment and the story of the artist's life, along with a painting and a small symbol used to indicate the size of the paintings relative to a person. On the right page there are more paintings (usually with a key section enlarged) with text about the artist's work at the time, along with a feature on the artist's technique (e.g., painting with a palette knife, using watercolor, showing depth) with practical projects to try. I have read a couple of other books on Cezanne and Mason certainly provides a better understanding of how the artist is a major influence in Post-Impressionist art and is called the father of Modern Art.

Of the several books look at the life and art of Cezanne this particular volume probably has the best balance between the two. This book will certainly give you the basics and in the back you will find a brief history of art that puts the Impressionist movement in perspective and a list of museums and galleries at which you can see examples of Cezanne's work, although much of it is in the hands of private collectors. Other titles in the Famous Artists series look at Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Monet, Picasso and Van Gogh.

A Great Collection of Custer Material: A Truely Fun Read
This book is unique in that it provides essays on the numerous facets of Custer's life not only by the participants that knew him but from Custer himself including notable historians that know Custer best. It also covers fascinating facts such as Custer's First Stand at Trevillian Station, a Civil War Battle where Custer was surrounded by Confederate Calavary. Hutton, himself a notable Western Historian, is one of a number of well written essays on the Custer Myth including a critical look at how movies and art portrayed Custer over the years representing the pathos of the nation at that time. The change of view from Erol Flynn's "They Died with Their Boots On" to Richard Mulligan's portrayal in "Little Bighorn" takes a well versed explanation. One of my favorite parts of the book is an essay by Hutton where he explains why in movie director John Ford's "Fort Apache" version of Custer's last stand, John Wayne's character Captain York praises the gallant loss of Colonel Thursday (Custer,) who he actually hated, because York "realized that society understands little of the true motivation of heroes but still needs to idealize them as figures to emulate". This is just not an interesting read but a reflection of how changes in society change perceptions of men and history. By the way, its a fun read!

Important Work
Here you have a true, overlooked, ignored, and underappreciated masterpiece. This is a critical edition of the 1799 English translation of Baron d'Holbach's "Histoire critique de Jésus-Christ," the first known biography of Jesus ever produced. While Baron d'Holbach, the reknowned atheistical philosophe, has received credit for this work, the bulk of the work is actually based upon a manuscript produced by a now unknown French deist. Nevertheless, his mark is seen throughout the text, as he made a large number additions and notes to the text, and not to mention the entire text of the preface as well as the final three chapters. Although d'Holbach clearly based the work on the text of someone else, the charge of the editor that he was guilty of plagiarism is clearly unwarranted, as the work was published under a false name, and his involvement in the production of the work, in addition to his others, was always kept tightly concealed.

Regardless, the text itself is basically an analysis of the life and events of Jesus Christ. He begins with the various prophecies relating to the birth of Jesus, and then quickly moves on to such issues as the Virgin birth, his childhood, and so on. Throughout the work, the absurdities, distortions, and dogmas of the New Testament are given no credence. This is especially evident when the many "miracles" performed by Jesus are discussed. These events, quite astutely, are attributed more to the crafty nature of Jesus as well as the extreme credulity of those who he chooses to dupe. In addition to this, he also places the moral doctrines of Jesus under strict scrutiny, ultimately revealing them to be destructive of society as well as contrary to the very nature of man.

Some of his sharpest comments however, are reserved for the death of Jesus and his supposed resurrection. The resurrection is revealed to be a complete sham and myth, utterly unsupported by any reasonable, coherent, or objective documentation. Instead, he holds that it was merely a ploy used by his close inner circle to bring the foolish statements of their deceased leader to their fruition, and thus advance their cause even further. Nonetheless, his most caustic comments are reserved for the last two chapters, in which he reviews his critique of Jesus' life and teachings, and extends his analysis to the history of Christianity following his death. Here he concludes that Christianity is not only destructive in itself, but that its actual application and institutionalisation has caused the world an endless amount of suffering by allowing tyrants both temporal and spritual to oppress, rob, exploit, and enslave the bulk of mankind, while stiffling true learning, science, morality, and progress. His solution, to all of this, is of course the complete renunciation of religion, and the construction of a rational morality based upon the solid foundation of nature. For this, however, one will have to consult his other great works, in particular his great tome, "The System of Nature." This volume, however, is primarily an exercise in destruction. While this is almost certainly too strong a medicine for most "believers," those who have freed their minds from the shackles of faith will find this a welcome addition to their libraries.

GREAT IDEAS
This strong precise outlook reflects different aspects of different sides of the business spectrum. It's a truly positive look at successful businesses and the great minds behind them. Grove, Smith, Lynch, Rowland, & Volcker all share insights & directions in a volatile era. With Gretchen Morgenson, Senior Editor at Forbes magazine, letting these truly gifted individuals openly express ideas, predictions and success fortitudes. Forbes Great Minds made a lasting impression on me. It was great to listens to these fascinating people in an informal interview. To pick up one new idea and one new lesson is worth the time spent, but too generate the detailed information they provided is extraordinary.
