When My mother Read it to us
I chose The Threee Billy Goats Gruff by Stephen Carpenter because it was my Mom's favorite story book growing up. The day I brought it home she sat down and read it to me and my sister. My favorite characters are the three billy goats because there funny and can play tricks on the troll. The troll was foolish to let the small and middle size billy goats go across the bridge, and then have to fight with the big billy goat. He ended up falling off the bridge and all three billy goats enjoyed the grass on the other side of the bridge. Now they will be able to come and go whenever they want. There is a lesson to be learned in this book. Don't let someone influence you by saying that something is bigger and better if you wait for awhile. Overall the book is alot of fun to read. I would definitely share this story with my children.
The Stephen Carpenter version is outstanding for little ones
Many of the reviews listed here are for other versions of this story. I have checked out all seven versions of Three Billy Goats Grufff available from our library just to see which was best for a three year old. This one by Stephen Carpenter has large, clever, uncluttered pictures and tells the story in simple language. The troll is not too scary and, all in all, this one seems just right for little ones. Another version, the elaborately illustrated one by Janet Stevens, uses a colorful, imaginative vocabulary and would have more appeal to adults and older children (5 or 6 and up?).
Three Billy Goats Gruff; What a great childrens book!!!
This book has brought great joy to my daughters life. She is 2 1/2 years old and she just loves this story. I highly recomend this book to any parent who enjoys seeing their children envolved with a book.

Great for kids of all ages!
My kids have all loved this book from the age of 16 months. Most toddlers love to find the "banana" (or many other items on each page) when asked to find the banana. Every year they will find some new picture that they never noticed before. My five-year old is into "pirate", while my 18-month old loves the "hundred" stars. There is so much to look at on every page! I will give this book as a gift to my nieces and nephews for years to come.
Great dictionary for young children!
The best thing about this dictionary is that it has a picture for EVERY word. It allows children who are not reading yet to identify the words by themselves. In addition, this dictionary is in alphabetic order. I have looked through numerous 'picture' dictionaries which group words in subject (i.e. science, nature, body, etc.) To me, this is confusing if you are trying to truly look up a word. As well as the other 'picture' dictionaries did not have pictures for every word. This is wonderful for my kindergartener to be able to look up words on her own. In addition, her school is working on letters each week and she is able to look up words for the letter of the week to get ideas of items she can bring in! I think this dictionary should be a required book for children starting school, it's GREAT!

Excellent story for both children and adults to enjoy.
This story has a great moral to it as well as being very entertaining and interesting to both children and adults. The plus side of the cassette is that Jack Nicholson tells it in such a way that everyone will enjoy listening to it over and over again. The illustrations are perfect to fit the story and are great at intriguing the children. We have had this story through both of our sons and they both STILL enjoy this book. Hopefully will pass it on to the grandchildren. Tell your friends and family about this one.

Absolutely wonderful!
This book-tape set has to be one of the best books on tape that rabbit ears has produced. Jack Nicholson's smooth magical voice is just perfect with predictably great music from Bobby McFerrin. A must for every child's library!

Langley's "Missing" is a Work of Art
Children enjoy books with happy endings and parents enjoy books that teach their children something. That is why I recommend the book "Missing" by Jonathan Langley. "Missing" is about a little girl named Daisy and her cat, Lupin. When Daisy has a day off of school, Lupin doesn't know and goes to meet her at the corner like every day. When Lupin realizeds that Daisy isn't at the corner and Daisy realizes that Lupin isn't at home, they begin a frantic search for one another. Along the way, each thinks about what could have possibly happened to the other.
Langley's book is great for children. First, he shows how to deal with the fear or feeling that you have lost someone you love. He is able to do this by stating the actual thoughts of Daisy and Lupin--for example, he writes about Daisy thinking "He's never coming back...but I must do something special just in case he does come back."
This book is also good for children because it shows them the idea of having different points of view. At the beginning of the book, the two characters have different points of view (when they were off doing other things) but later, their thoughts were almost the same.
"Missing" is also special because of its illustrations. Langley was able to make his illustrations follow the storyline almost exactly. For example, at one point the story is about Lupin thinking if Daisy has gone on a trip or to a party, and the pictures were of Lupin thinking about a school bus and children standing around a cake. The pictures also fit moods well--when the two characters are happy, it's sunny; when they're sad, it's raining; when they're worried, it's grey.
Children and their parents would both enjoy "Missing" because it is a different story. The way Langley shows point of view and feeling is very diverse to most picture books. Langley is a true artist of both writing and painting.

Not just for co-sleepers
I also stumbled upon this book at the library and it has become my sons new Favorite. This book is about one familys search for the perfect bed when all the children decide to sleep with their parents; something all parents can relate to. I loved the illustrations in this book, they depict a truer vision of day to day life in a family with many kids. Not only do all the children decide they like their parents bed but all the family pets sleep there too. I thouroughly enjoyed this book and do not believe it to be only for co-sleeping familys since we do not pratice that arrangement.
I love this book!
This is the cutest book I've read in a long time, and my daughter loves it. Its the story of a Co-Sleeping family and the daddy's quest for more room to sleep. He builds the biggest bed in the world, and when that doesn't work out, he builds individual beds for all of the children in another room - only to find out he can't sleep without them because he's lonely!
This book captures the joys and tribulations of co-sleeping families perfectly. We all sometimes wake up with a foot in our face and think "why are we doing this?" - but waking up all snuggled up with our children is one of life's sweetest moments. This book captures it in a funny, delightful, and heartwarming way!
A Children's Book of Co-Sleeping!
I stumbled upon this book in the library yesterday and immediately came online to order copies for all my friends. This book provides a fun (and truthful) look at co-sleeping families. As children are added to the family (and the bed), dad decides that to get some sleep he must get a bigger bed. At some point he becomes frustrated with the arrangement and puts the children in their own beds only to discover that he misses them and can't sleep without them. Families who practice this form of parenting will love seeing it in print. As a co-sleeping parent, I easily relate to the dad in this book. I agree that sometimes this sleeping arrangement is frustrating, but those times never outweigh the warmth and closeness that we share with our children during sleep. I'm so grateful there's a book that portrays that, and thrilled to see breastfeeding represented in the illustrations, as well. Note to Amazon: link this book to all the William Sears' and La Leche books, not to mention Tine Thevenin's The Family Bed and you'd sell lots!
