Tippy is off to post WWII Germany
I have been saving good books for my children since I was a child, much as my mother did for me. This book, in its first printing, was one such book, passed to me by my mother when I was about 13 or 14, about to be passed to my eldest. Set in the post-WWII years, this book is part of a wonderful series about two families, the Parrishes and the Jordans, who are stationed together in the Army and whose lives interweave, especially through the heroine of this book, Tippy Parrish.

There are so many trite, poorly written and depressing books out for our young adults now, that I find it refreshing to offer my children books that reflect old fashioned values and ideas. Though these books have typical 50's roles for men, women and African Americans, they are none the less still topical, as they deal with how young girls grow up and fall in love. I heartily recommend all of these books!

Still love Janet Lambert
In this book Tippy Parrish is off to Germany with her parents. It is very hard to leave the family at home because Davey is recuperating from polio. At first Tippy is miserable in Germany but then she begins seeing Ken, who she is falling in love with. And there there is Peter Jordan, her old boyfriend at home. In this charming story, we watch Tippy grow up, fall in love, and then face a separation from Ken as her father returns home to retire from the Army, and Ken is ordered to Korea. For those of us hooked on Janet Lambert and the Parrish family, this is a good one!

Beautiful Love Story
This love story might have been writen for young readers - I first read it over 40 years ago. My mother saw me crying. She read it and I realized she truly understood. Tippy and her love for Ken have stayed in my heart all these years. Miss Lambert knows how to give us hope when all is lost. I am still looking for a copy of this book to call my own.

How it all began with the Jordon family!
Jenifer Jordon, who should be a senior in high school, is left in charge of her many younger siblings when her general father heads off to WWII. Forced to take responsibility, Jenifer rents a house in FL and organizes her brothers and sisters. Her life changes when a young British aristocrat comes to live nearby, and once they have become friends Jenifer realizes she and Cyril will never be lonely again. This is the first in the Jordon series, and worth hunting down.

This book is really cool and is great for 4-5 year olds.
This book teaches you all about snakes. It has really good pictures and explanations. The cobras, rattlesnakes, and constrictors are the best. The whole book is great and easily keeps a child's attention.

Still A Cool Story
It's amazing that a story written in 1941 is still so good. Of course the details and the background are different from today's world, but the problems Carol faces are ones that any girl can recognize. She's a little shy, a little awkward with people her age for she's been raised by her grandmother. Fortunately, she has a close friend in Penny, a bubbling, happy girl from a large and loving family. Carol is spending the summer with her. She struggles to fit in with Penny's friends. She is shyly interested in Penny's older brother and doesn't know if he likes her or not. She has an ongoing worry about her father. Since her mother died, she's hardly seen her busy father and wonders if he loves her or has forgotten her. Naturally all of the problems are worked out and it makes for an enjoyable easy read. I first read this as an early teenager, fell in love with it, discovered it was the first book of a series and patiently tracked down the rest. Meanwhile, I reread this one several times.

One of the Best!
I first read these books over thirty years ago (as did, apparently, many other women of a certain age;)) and *still* love them. Yes, the time period is very different, but the heart of the tale (of all the Parrish/Jordan books, actually) still remains universal. We all struggle through the same gamut of emotions as young adults, trying to find our place in the world and we all (mostly) need the love and support of our family members as we work our way towards being grownups.
War was not an 'instant broadcast' thing back in those days (Beloved Walter Cronkite (if you're old enough to have read these books thirty years ago, you're old enough to know who 'Uncle Walter' is!) wasn't even on the news yet!) and it *is* interesting to gain a perspective of the world that existed without the social and technological advantages we have now.
Not to mention that, if you *do* have pre-teen/teen daughters, this is a completely wholesome and totally appropriate way to feed those dear little imaginations.
I am so pleased to see a continuing interest in this series of books by this delightful writer....it would be a shame to have such good material shelved and forgotten.

Simple and Classic
A simple story of first love. The memory of it has stayed with me for over 30 years. How often can you say that? How wonderful to find it still exists. This book will take you back to a time when love didn't seem so complicated. Although written decades ago, it still tugs at your heartstrings.

Lovely story about the grown up Tippy
Tippy Parrish Jordan has always been such a loveable heroine, you just knew she'd grow up & stay so loveable. And she did. This book, the last in the series, has Tippy as mother of two and happily married to Major Peter Jordan. Marny is a 14 year old ward of the state that has been babysitting for the Jordan's when Tippy takes an interest in her. Next thing you know, the Jordan kids have a big sister! If you love the Parrishes, this is a must read.
