"it is to begin with, all inside us"
A reprint of "Honey from the Rock: Ten Gates of Jewish Mysticism", with an added preface and foreword, this is a book I've treasured and read many times since I bought the first edition in 1983.
It's poetic, with a warmth and humanity that touches the heart an illuminates the mind. Its 10 chapters are broken down into short pieces (93 in all), and when quoting from the Torah or a rabbinical saying, the original Hebrew is written below the quote.
This slim volume could easily be read in one day, but I don't think you would want to...it's a book to savor and reflect upon, because in its simplicity, there is much depth.

"The begining was seeing for even one moment
That there was something more to reality
Than meets the eye.
The end is seeing for even one moment
That the apparent multiplicity
Is in reality a unity"

A complete accessible text
In Jewish Spirituality: A Brief Introduction For Christians, Rabbi Lawrence Kushner assists members of the Christian community to better understand Judaism in general, and basic Jewish concepts of spirituality in particular. In a complete accessible text, Rabbi Kushner explores how we are all connected to each other and to God, how the Torah is a blueprint for all of creation, how "holy deeds" are required every day by each of us in order to successfully mend the world, the nature of God's "Oneness", how the Jewish experience of teshuva is similar to the Christian experience of Jesus, and a great deal more. Rabbi Kushner also dispels a number of misconceptions about Judaism common among Christians. Jewish Spirituality is an enthusiastically recommended introduction for those with Christian backgrounds who are seeking a better understanding of Judaism and its relation to their own Christian faith from a Jewish perspective.

Best written of the recent wave of sweet inspirational books
There have been many books of this genre lately, but this is by far the best written. In four dozen short, free associational essays, Kushner addresses many of the deeper issues of life. If you are looking for an accessible way of thinking about the problem of evil, the dilemma of closeness and letting go, the issue of meaning within apparent chaos, this is the book to read. Some will want to go to deeper and more challenging books after this one. For those who like dessert before the main course, Kushner is the choice.

Everyday Meaning
I borrowed this book from a friend and have already read it twice. As a Jewish professional, I had heard about "the other Rabbi Kushner!" but had not read his writings before. I loved his down to earth, practical, easy to embrace spirituality combined with his intellect, humor and modesty. I am trying to figure out how I can use this book in my work - thank you Rabbi Kushner.

A Pleasing Introduction
An introduction to the Kabbalah, although kept simple, it remains as nothing mysterious. Rabbi Kushner gives some relevant examples to our time, however, I feel there is something missing in the whole of the study of the Kabbalah. Nicely presented and displayed with pictures, this short book is just an introduction that, because its so short, it misses many of its aspects.
