Amateurish
As a fan of alternative history I was intrigued by this book's premise: contact with an alien in pre-WW2 ... Germany; akin to Harry Turtledove's "Worldwar" series. Unfortunately, this book is excruciatingly painful to read.

There are no characters, only [typicals]: the "bad" [guys] are scowling bull-necked [white]; the hero is a pure idealistic farm boy; the ... scientist is a nutty professor; there's a ... Machiavellian temptress; the ... alien starship captain is a "Wing Commander"-alien who executes his cringing subordinates when they relay bad news to him. The depiction of ... Germany is shallow and characters moralize during WW2 as if they know the outcome.

The "science" in this book is also cliched: impulse power, hyperspace, shields, laser [weapons]. A few months poking around an alien ship and the ... scientists know how to build three of their own that travel twice as fast.

Now consider the fact that you to extract all this information from a book with at least one grammatical or typographic error per page -- it's clear that this book was never critically reviewed or even copyedited before publication (note to author: it's "mein Fuhrer", not "mine Fuhrer".)

There's one point in the book that's almost interesting ..., but it's not suffering through this book just for that.
