good book
this book was ok. not one of the best books in the world but it was well written. any way, i do recommend it
My favrorite Lumpie book
I liked this book because it is funny. My favrorite character is the Lumpies because in book #2 Neal thought the Lumpies were pillows. Phew, Eric didn't dream of banging a garbage can. Neal didn't dream of sitting in the middle of a pizza and eating his way out to the crust. I loved reading this book because it is really good. I wonder what Keeah's mother will be in the next book. This is my favrorite Secrets of Droon so far I think I will like #10. Secrets of Droon is my favrorite kind of book. I would recommend this book to you. If you get this book you should get #1 because the stories connect. All of the books are good. They all have a happy ending. You should get all of the Secret of Droons.
Super Series, Major Plot Twist
Happiness and joy descended upon our household when the most recent Droon installment arrived. While my son and I are avid consumers of serial chapter books, the Secrets of Droon remains our favorite. Fortunately, number 9, which introduces a huge plot twist, did not disappoint. For the first eight installments, the bold young adventurers from the upper world -- Eric, Julie, and Neal -- have teamed with the Junior Wizard, Princess Keeah of Droon, to reign in the evil aspirations of the dastardly Lord Sparr. In The Tower of the Elf King, however, Lord Sparr is notably absent, and our young friends confront a new, surprisingly complicated foe, Gryndl. In addition to Gryndl, plus some old friends (particularly Kahn, King of the Purple Lumpies -- long my son's favorite), our friends meet The Maker, whose inventions feature prominently in the story line. Experienced Droon readers will be pleased to learn more of the illusive, shape-shifting Queen Relna, at the same time remaining wary of Sparr's eventual return. Once again, it's refreshing that the author does not weigh down the narrative rehashing prior adventures, but, for this reason, it's probably best to begin with the first book in the series. Once your kids begin, it won't be long before they'll be joining us in anticipation of the tenth installment!

Is it a cup or a potty?
My 21-month-old daughter seems to like the story and that it is a princess learning to use the potty (since she is too), but the potty doesn't look like a potty. She thinks its a cup. Now she wants to take my coffee up to the potty and use it.
Both my children & I love this book!
The illustrations are nice. There are only a few words on each page, so it is a quick read. The little princess is really trying, but sometimes you just can't make it to the potty in time & that's okay.
Just right for toddlers
We discovered this story in a large compilation book I bought just as my son was beginning toilet training. This story immediately became his favourite and he asked for it over and over, able to relate completely to the little princess' ups and downs with toilet training, and her eventual little accident on the floor. The sense of humour is exactly right for two and three year olds and our big story book is still known as "the potty book".

Hiostorian
This book tells one of the hebrew bible's stories that have no evidence. It takes people of myth, superstition to believe that.
There is no human being that can suvive that heat of the fire.
realistic thinking has no place for fiction.

Excellent!
This book is small enough for toddlers to hold with ease, and is made with heavy cardboard, instead of the normal pages of other books - easier for kids to turn the pages. My daughters loved this when they were two years old, and occasionally they like to read it again just for memories. The illustrations are great, and entertaining for young readers. The book is an excellent book for new readers to start with, as it has few words, and easy for them to build their confidence.

Tony Harrison: A Modern British Poet
This collection of the work of Tony Harrison I found to be excellent. His accounts of his working-class background in Leeds, and his struggle to reconcile the conflicting worlds of his background and his present status as an acclaimed poet, constitutes the bulk of his work. He has a modern tone to his voice which speaks of universal themes of breaking away from one's past.

Avoid in most cases
Based on the contents of this book, Microsoft should be giving it away rather than selling it. We don't mean that comment to be an extreme criticism but it just doesn't make sense to charge so much for something that is essentially a glorified sales manual.
It's definitely easy to read but also probably too easy. You'll finish reading this book and find yourself asking, "Is that all?" Don't even attempt to bring this book along as a resource when you go to deploy Windows 2000.
If does serve a purpose of preparing people in sales roles for product. If used for that, it does the job quite well. However for most other uses, you'll definitely find better books.
Easy to read intro but too expensive
I read this book in a day. It's a good overview of what's new in Windows 2000 Server but not terribly deep. However, it is overpriced for what it is -- MS Press should just have combined this book with the one on 2000 Workstation and knocked ten bucks off. Also, it's kinda clear there isn't much revolutionary in 2000 Server anyway. Windows is finally catching up with things Netware has done for years and mainframes for decades.
A good tool for those transitioning from NT 4.0
As an MCSE who feels comfortable with NT 4.0, the advent of Windows 2000 brings some feelings of anxiety. Though this book doesn't delve into the "how to" administrative tasks with Active Directory and other daily tasks that will be common, the author painted a good picture of how NT 2000 will be different. This book is an excellent tool for those who are wanting to gain an introduction (hence the title). I would especially recommend this for Business Analysts or any Sales force who wants to learn the new lingo and imporvements that Microsoft has made. It gives a good overview for those who know networking on what's new and what's there. That is what the book is. For those seeking an insightful "how to do" systematic approach of the Beta software, you will not get it here. It is an easy read and worth it's price.

Author's reply to review comparing bio and autobio
Jesse Owens' autobiography was written as something of a self-advertisement. Sadly, some of the more difficult aspects of his life were covered over or revised to make a happier life than he probably experienced. I tried to get to the bottom of some of the confusion around dates and events, which forced me to disagree with what Mr. Owens had written in some instances.
Good pictures, but the details don't agree with Jesse
Having read Jesse Owens autobiography, Jesse, I am less impressed with this book than I was with the autobiography. His autobiography differs in the details--such as whether or not he got married before or after his first child was born, and also speculates about his opinions. It is opinionated in itself and doesn't give as objective a viewpoint as I would desire in a biography. However, the photographs are great, and let the viewer become acquainted with what the real Jesse Owens looked like, for those who were not acquainted with him while he lived. Not bad, but I don't recommend it too highly.
