This is the way it was; this is the way it is.
"CAP" Palmerston is just a regular 15-year-old guy totally absorbed in all the things you would expect during hot South Carolina summers in the early 50's - until his mother is offered a job in New Jersey.
Then, CAP's southern roots call him to his "duty". He goes places and meets people he never dreamed he would. You'll want to know what CAP learns about himself - and others.
Kevin O'Kelly has accurately depicted this era with great insight and emotion.

Modern idealism for the African American Culture
Kevin Gaines does a remarkable job in identify the problems that face many African Americans living in the Twentieth Century. His studies is focused around the Civil Right Era where you have powerful leaders involved with the "Black Freedom Movement." Noted key players are Malcolm X and Marcus Garvey. His arguements are based around the problems in the South and the violation of civil and human rights. The Federal and local (Southern) governments are the key institutions that supported the unjust treatment of African Americans for over many centuries. Gaines seem to argue that if there is a change in the way politics are incorporated in the poor black communities to help build a middle/working class society then the poverty rate would decrease and race would not be a barrier.

Tying to make the boring into the palatable
What to do if you're trying to make something as stupid and boring as the bible into something that a poor gullible child will accept? This is the problem faced by the authors, and they do a half-way decent job of presenting bible idiocy as something partly entertaining as a comic book. Should be useful for gullible, brainwashed parents attempting to produce gullible, brainwashed children. Start them with Santa, and if they believe that, move on to the bible in comic book form.
Bible comics
Great idea with uneven results. Some superb art in places, but not always as an appropriate counterpoint to the accompanying Scriptures. The parts that do succeed are worth the cover price alone.
a Biblical Renaissance?
This book was well received by me and my teenagers. There needs to be more artistic interpretations like this that tackle scripture. Not every translation done in this book is accurate to the Word of God but every piece is brilliant in its own right. Bravo! Encore!

A Psycho's World
This is the coolest thing I've read in a while (even more entertaining than Plato's Republic, if you can imagine...XP). I shamelessly spoiled a part of the Quattrin Mystique by crusading down to my old high school and thumping this book like a Bible, but as an atheist, I need to elect humans to fill my psychological God-void, and the Word of Quattrin is amusing enough (besides, he really DID write His book). Anyway, it's mostly about KQ's psych(-ic,-o) ex-wife, who has an unusual personal reality that involves experiencing several different historical lives and identifying past-life bonds among others. It's not an entirely believable view, but at least it's good and weird. Mr. Quattrin can actually write, which isn't that surprising.
If you want a picture of the author of this book, he has a curly brown not-quite fro and mustache and a quiet backstage wardrobe, with a matching bizarre yet low-key belief system...not really a system, actually...he's just strange. He plays Queen, Enya, and Pink Floyd during class, which apparently helped him get a degree...???
Mr. Quattrin also published a book about precalculus. Later editions even have the correct HoDHi formula, inverted in the first limited-release printing. It costs ten bucks, but if you keep promising to bring in the money, eventually you'll surreptitiously graduate without paying.
And if you don't get math the way he teaches it, back off, it's not his fault--you're just a dumb stump.
