Good ideas!
This book is chock full of really good ideas. It didn't "change my life" but I did learn a thing or two. It mostly served as a good reminder to me of some good habits.

I would read other books by these authors.

Good local advices but no global solution to the problem
If you are looking for tips to get your desk organized, or reminders on every day problems, than this book is for you. But if u want a more global method on how to handle the mess you will be disappointed.

WONDERFUL!
This is a wonderful way to organize yourself, and tips on organizing others. There are many usful lists, such as packing lists, staying overnight, and even grocery. Ronnie has many useful ideas on helping you help yourself. I was thouroughly delighted when reading Organize Yourself. She includes many entertaining stories about her customers to raise your self esstime. (one customer was an a trip and failed to pack her skirts!) Please buy this book and whip yourself into shape!

It s the same thing
If you don't own a book like this then buy it. If you've EVER read one of these type books then forget it. It's the same thing you read in every other "preparedness" book. I'm sure this was the HOT seller Dec. 31, 1999, but now?
Rent a movie.....

Invaluable reference for September 11 and other emergencies
I first borrowed this book from the library and found it so useful I bought it from Amazon. I live in the Washington, D.C. area and felt very unprepared for emergencies in the aftermath of September 11. This guide helps you create a family emergency plan and give you tips on keeping safe in more routine situations. Particularly useful was their suggestion of a disaster supplies kit, which I now have. Some items in the kit were predictable--like a first aid kit, but others were not and make a lot of sense like a NOAA emergency radio, list of key addresses and contacts, extra prescription medications etc. While I don't expect to need it for an evacuation or terrorist emergency, these are supplies I would need in other emergencies from power outtages to storms etc. They recommend that you pack this in a carryall and take with you on trips as well.

Also useful was the idea of a family emergency plan--places to meet outside your home in case of an emergency. This would have been very useful on September 11 when all phone and cell phone lines in this area were busy and roads were clogged while people didn't have alternate ways to get home.

Other useful topics are in areas such as fire emergency, food related dangers, weather related disasters, dangerous encounters with animals and insects and a great chapter on home related emergencies.

I think every home should have a reference book like this one.

Extremely relevant and necessary.
In view of recent national events and all the possibilities, this book is a "must-have" for everyone. Written in a concise, easy to undertstand style, it covers the full range of potential dangers and how to prepare and react. I think the title is so appropriate, and the book delivers on that theme.

Good for Organizational Review
I thought the ideas and tips were well divided into chapters in this book. It was easy to look for hints in a specific topic area. However, the read was so quick that I found myself looking for more insight into the ideas behind some of the suggestions made. I have read other books that have been more detailed about the overall organization process and gave more concise directions on how to get started down finding your organizational flow. This book is a great organizational review tool for AFTER you have incorporated your personal organizational process. A good reminder of healthy organization tips, though, not necessarily a pool of original organizational hints.

Insightful!
Ronni Eisenberg’s book demonstrates how your work habits can be your best friends or your worst enemies when it comes to organizing your office productively. The book is a mixture of common-sense suggestions and useful organizational tips. She includes helpful hints for home-office workers and organizational tips for those who use personal digital devices. At times, it’s a little too intricate (you may feel you are getting detailed instructions on how to tie your shoes), however, it also offers organizational gems....

Very informative
This book is incredible! After years of trying to organize, missing promotions because of my disorganization (losing items, unpolished image...), I have become reasonably organized. I have even had a professional organizer try to help me, to no avail.

Naturally, not every tip will apply to every office. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that many were generic enough to be informative, but instructional enough to help.

At less than ten dollars, this is a must-have.

Cuts the Fat in Half
I'm glad to have read the work of two of ADD's most steadfast advocaters. This book represents a very different approach to dealing with ADD problems (shall we say 'as we find our way through our daily fog?') as it is geared straight at the level of dysfunctionality- the ADDers themselves.

The sections are organised into single page 'problem & answer' format, each topic being introduced by a relevant notable quote from celebrities and well-known persons. Although I find the information useful, witty, and practical, this is not the be-all or end-all approach to solving the ADDers' multitude of problems. It does serve, however, to heighten awareness and could easily serve as the catalyst for future action.

One recommendation would be to label each of the single page topics for easy reference in the table of contents as opposed to identifying it by the quote only.

The rhetoric and theoretical 'fat' has been cut to a minimum, thank God...too many books contain 'extra' information that may not appeal to the target reader. Let me say that the matching of content is dead-on for the ADD person who buys this book. In fact, this may be the first self-help book written for Attention Deficit Disorder adults. Strange to think that merely a decade ago this disorder was not widely recognised as existing in adults.

Thanks to Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo for taking such giant steps in the battle to cope with ADD.

commentary by the author, D. Steven Ledingham
As one of the authors of "The ADDed Dimension" I was thrilled to be involved in this book. At last we could focus on the positive side of ADD. It was neat to be able to write about the experience of ADD and not just more information on the medical condition and treatment options. This is a book about the real feeling and life experiences of those of us who learn differently and face the daily challenge of living with ADD. D. Steven Ledingham, 8/7/97

Insightful!
Ronnie Eisenberg's book is excellent preparation for entering the job market. After all, today's inevitable workplace reality is that many modern jobs are as permanent as Tibetan sand art. This book is full of clever suggestions on interviewing, resume writing, and network building. It will help you tackle the difficult task of finding a job armed with the knowledge that at least you're doing the search right. That, in itself, is a pretty good reference for your new job. We [...] recommend this helpful book for the newly graduated, the newly unemployed, and those considering marching out the office door and back into the job market. (P.S. Don't quit until you have a new job!)

Organize MY Family? ...
In desperation, I turned to "Organize Your Family...Simple Routines For You and Your Kids". I am an incredbly left brained person and orgnization comes somewhat naturally. My daughter is extremely right brained. The problem is comunicating my ideas into something she can understand and follow. Not as easy as one might think. This book saved her life and my sanity. There are a lot of books on the shelves, but they deal mostly with desks, files and grown-up stuff. Our goal was to teach organization now so that she can accomplish more in life. The book was easy to follow and broken up in to easy-to-refer-back-to categories. We still have a ways to go, but we have put some of the tecniques into practice.

Start Out Right
I happened across this book when I was actually in an office supply store shopping for furniture for my home office--naturally the title caught my attention immediately!

I am finding ORGANIZE YOUR HOME OFFICE! to be a helpful guide through this project because it addresses my specific situation--setting up a home office from scratch. This would NOT be the best choice if you've already been working at home for years and need to declutter and rearrange, but for the "beginner" it's a handy checklist of things to keep in mind so you can start out organized and hopefully stay that way. Not a lot of specific details or anecdotes, but a comprehensive outline to keep you on track.

Organize Your Business Travel : Simple Routines for Managing
Geared for the traveler who is beginning to travel on business. Much of the information here is not enlightening to the seasoned business traveler. More common sense than breakthrough information.

Organize Your Business Travel: Simple Routines for Managing
Very helpful! The ideas suggested are practical, applicable to real life business travel, and imaginative too. Highly recommend this book for business travellers and anyone else who needs to get things done while on the go.

Save your money; this book is a waste of time!
After reading Don Aslett's anti-clutter book, "Not for Packrats Only," I thought this book might help in organizing the items I didn't throw away. However, this book advocates overorganization that creates even more clutter!

Many of the ideas presented in this book are just ridiculous: (1) developing a system to organize artwork that you no longer use (rather than donating or selling it), (2) making double or triple copies of unnecessary items, like 3 copies of your photo negatives in addition to the photos (3) own 2 irons (in case one goes on the blink), (4) make a chart of the grocery's layout along with a list of which items are on which aisles--as if the store does not have labeled aisles!--and (5) make a list of all your bank account numbers and your family's social security numbers to keep with you--a safety nightmare!!!

I read this book completely, hoping for just one redeeming tidbit, but I was left completely frustrated. Buying this book was a complete waste of money, and I did not even feel comfortable donating this book to Goodwill. I quickly threw it in the garbage....

Great Help!
Highly recommend this book! As someone who never has time between work and family to keep track of where things are in my house or get the necessary things done around the house, this book helped me to start tackling the chaos. The routines really are simple, the approach is clear. As our home came together in a less frenetic way, our family life has improved too. This book is a really great help!

Not a bunch of touchy-feely fluff!
I love a rich, meandering, thoughtful book on imbuing your house with a sense of its denizens and making it a refuge and spiritual haven as much as the next person.

HOWEVER!

A book like that (and there are so many...) is next to useless when you're trying to recreate the Swiss-timing precision of your childhood home where you were raised with 5 other children by a divorced mom and nothing ever got lost and no one was ever late for anything.

The key words: direct, concrete, clear, simple, specific, uncompromising. The authors get down to the minutiae so that you can finally get a chance to think about the big stuff.

International Organizations: Perspectives on Governance in the Twenty-First Century
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall (29 September, 1999)
Author: Kelly-Kate S. Pease
Amazon base price: $54.00
Used price: $2.85
Average review score:

okay for highschool
A noble enterprise indeed, in an understudied field. Theoretical perspectives are the end all and be all of international politics, but Pease's book bites off more than it could ever dream of chewing. Critical theory (Marxist and Feminist) is grossly oversimplified, as she not only leaves the reader with a dearth of literary references to actual writers, but moreover gives these marginal perspectives half the page space that she devotes to Realists and liberals/idealists. The organization of the book, though - offering deductive as well as inductive arguments - is intriguing. The case studies make the book worth buying, though the theoretical synopses that precede them, through questionable portrayals, almost negate their practicality. It is a book without rival only because no one else has undertaken the cause. The book is worth buying, although it is a choice of which Faust himself might approve.

elementary
this book assumes that you know nothing of international relations and international organizations. thus, in this context it explains things in a very simple straight forward manner. in addition, pease is repetitive in her analysis of realism, liberalism, marxism and feminism. however, i find that her analysis is limited and fails to take a nuanced approach to the aforementioned theories. in short, her analysis is elementary. i really wouldn't recommend this book to anyone, especially in consideration of the price. to me, a book on international organizations should have a brief theory section, but then examine organizations and their problems in greater depth. furthermore, while reading this book, i was struck with the question of whether or not pease actually wrote this book herself, or if her grad students helped her. there appear to be distinct inconsistencies in writing style between chapters. regardless, this book is mediocre, there are plenty of better scholars.
