I ordered the Wine Talk Book 5 weeks ago confirmation #2118932, could you please check or give me information on how to check.

Entertaining while packed with advice and information.
A witty and funny book for the discerning wine-lover - thirsty for history and culture,as well as a guide for beginners.Even a fairly knowledgeable Frenchman might learn a thing or two.

A VERY FUNNY AND INTERESTING BOOK.
I FOUND "WINE TALK" TO BE VERY FUNNY AND INTERESTING. IT CONTAINED THE MOST HUMOUROUS AND TRIVIAL WINE FACTS AS WELL AS SOME IN DEPTH FACTS THAT I WILL REMEMBER FOR YEARS TO COME. ANDREW JONES IS THE TYPE OF WRITER WHO MAKES ANY READER FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH HIS SUBJECT CONTENT. EVEN THE NOVICE WINE LOVER WILL ENJOY THIS BOOK.

Cap
Artwork is not the best. Cannot be compared to that of The Best of Spiderman Hardcover.

I enjoyed this very much
This was a nice collection of stories. I especially enjoyed Evan Dorkin's humorous contribution. The reprints were unecessary. Any Cap collector worth his salt has them already. Why not give us two more original stories? Or if you MUST reprint something, why not reprint Joe Simon/Jack Kirby's original Cap stories? Or some 40's or 50's stories we've rarely seen?

The original stories here, however, are stellar. Worth the asking price for a nice hardcover.

I am Actually a muslim and I want to give my opinion
I would like to say something about christianity. For centuries white christians have surpressed and enslaved other races or religions. Why would I want to convert myself to a religion that didn't even have laws that inspired people from all races and beliefs to live in harmony and friendship. One advice.Read de koran:You won't be disappointed About the book then.Does the author even now that the Bible during the roman occupation was forged(just like the juish book the thora)

Fine scholarship
This certainly rates more than the single star given by another reviewer. Billingsley's book is a fine work of scholarship!

Not for Americans
Although this book is well organized and, generally well written, it is not a good course for the American woodworker. The book is written by a Welchman. He uses species of wood and walking stick designs that are Welch. There are some good ideas about the process. But the book is very narrow in scope.

Best book of them all on cane-making
Everything you need to know on how to make canes & walking sticks. What I like about this book is that it takes you from the beginning-- identifying trees and how to select the wood for your staves and handles. Sure, some of the species are found in Great Britain and not the U.S.A., but he tells you what characteristics to look for in a species that would be desirable for making a cane. The pictures are beautiful and the text interesting and clearly written so as to make his directions easily understood.

Cool comic Writers Do Spiderman One-shots
Tangled Web is a great concept. Cool writers get to do Spiderman related stories. Volume 1 has some of the best stories including Flowers For Rhino (Rhino becomes super smart) and Severance Package(which shows what happens to one of Kingpin's lieutenants after Spiderman messes up an operation). Sadly, as a whole, the series is uneven.

This edition of Tangled Web is volume III. I cannot attest to the goodness of this volume because i have not read all the issues it collects, but it contains my favorite issue of Tangled Web, #13 which features a villain bar populated by Doc Oc, Matador, Stiltman, and Whirlwind. The story centers around a Mystery Man, The Vulture, and Kraven meeting in a bar and swapping stories. The Vulture/Kraven dynamic is hilarious but the last two pages of the story would stun any spiderman fan. I don't want to spoil it, so just find the back issue or buy this book.

Have these people been to Brazil recently?
I made the mistake of trying to travel in Brazil with this book. The new editions come out every couple of years or so, but really don't get updated much, which becomes obvious if you try to use the book extensively. Hotels are listed which closed years ago. Maps are next to impossible to use as they show only hotels and restuarants, not landmarks. Half a page will get devoted to the Carmen Miranda museum in Rio de Janeiro, which is freqented only by people who have read about it in LP, is next to impossible to find, and contains next to no history about her, and no artifacts apart from a couple of dresses. After a couple weeks of frustration (thankfully rescued with e-mail advice from Brasilian friends) trying to travel round Brasil with this book, a traveller I met gave me the Footprints guide, which is much more helpful.

Don't Waste Your Money On This One
The conventional wisdom is that you can't go wrong with Lonely Planet guide, but this Brazil guide proves otherwise. The new 5th edition is little changed from the 4th, except for 1) the new Natural Brazil section. Most travelers will find this section too dry and uninteresting, while those really interested in nature will find it too superficial 2) $5.00 higher price tag.
Useful things, such as info on hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and prices are too often inaccurate. The most annoying aspect of this guide is that all prices are out of whack. LP translated prices (some of which were probably 5 years old) into US dollars when the real was 2.2 per dollar. Now it is about 3.5.
All this raises doubts of whether or not the authors actually went to Brazil to update this edition and not just slapped on a new cover and threw in a new useless section. So, if you have the 4th edition, keep using it. If not, look into buying either the Footprints or the Rough guides. The high popularity of LP is another reason to go with something else. When you go to places recommended by LP, you are very likely to run into hordes of other backpackers clutching their LP guides like bibles and afraid to make a step on their own. On a positive note, the LP guide does have useful info about Brazil's history, economy, culture, society, film and literature.

Far Below Lonely Planet's Regular Standards
I lost count of the number of errors in this book. They printed the wrong dates for Carnaval Samba Parades, the prices are in USD rather than in local currency - all wrong by an average 30%, as well. Hotels and restaurants are listed that closed long before the January 2002 publication date, and it's obvious that they haven't been to Brasilia in years - citing it as `treeless` - which I`m sure it was twenty years ago, but not today.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend a better Brazil guide because I don't have any experience with any others, but I enjoyed ceremoniously burning this book when I left Brazil.

The most disappointing is that other Lonely Planet Guidebooks (I have used 5 other ones) far exceed the standards that this one set.

Land Surveyor Reference Manual
Published in Hardcover by Professional Pubns (1989)

Amazon base price: $37.45
Used price: $59.95
Collectible price: $62.99

Do not need it
The manual was not written by a professional or educator in land surveying. The manual delivers only quite superficial coverage to each category in surveying. Although the author managed to involved many relevant information from coded sources, in-depth discussions and delivery of critical fundamental concepts are unavailable.

The manual may be somewhat useful for civil engineering students with none or minimal surveying knowledge, but too much over-simplified ABCs for students possess certain basis surveying knowledge.

It contents not even adequate materials for LSIT exams.

It still could be a concise guide for Civil Professional Engineering candidates in reviewing surveying topics; however, it will not satisfy any other purposes for LS exams, advanced students, or professionals.

If you are buying references in surveying topics intended for in-depth purpose, try something else.

very informative, great resource.
