Advanced High Frequency Radio Communications - ALE
This is by far, one of the best books available that covers the
Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) protocol and other "leading-edge" developments of the integration of data communications and internet connectivity with HF radios and HF radio network design.

This book is densely-packed with technicial information that is useful to the communications hobbyist, and the professional who is involved with HF radio.

GREAT FAMILY DEVOTIONAL
My husband and I have really enjoyed this devotional. I am sorry to see it is no longer in print. It has worked the best for our family. I think it is partly because it can be short or you can make it a little longer, if you have the extra time. The best part is that our children (now from elementary to high school) seem to enjoy it...I think that is because we can talk about our own experiences. It asks questions for Dad and/or Mom to answer or we have also asked the questions to our children. It has been the most enjoyable of all the devotions we have used.

Wonderful book that kids can identify with!
This book has 35 SHORT chapters (short is good for most young male readers) that get right to the point with concrete, easy-to-relate-to examples. Each chapter summarizes what BOYS would do and what MEN would do, and gives clear Biblical references for their points. It doesn't talk down to the reader and is great resource for parents or anyone who works with young men.

What would you do If? 101 Five-Minute Devotions
This book is an excellent tool to use to talk to your kids about everything from being a follower, and doing what "everyone else does", getting in trouble just for the attention, peer pressure, and just about any other scenario that would come up in everyday life. Honesty, lying, acceptance of those that are "different", respecting others' property, gossiping, using money wisely, consequences of actions.,etc. All are done in short segments and biblically based with a daily scripture to back up whatever the given topic is. All are true-to-life situations and presented in a way to be thought-provoking. Intended for the 6-12 age group. This book is the best I have seen for a devotional type book that kids look forward to, and won't cause (as many) moans and groans.

A positive Christian vision for Civilization (witty & deep)
This is a bold, witty, deep, fun, challenging, entertaining, informative book, if you can picture all that. A major theme is that a relationship with God is about more than personal devotions. Influenced by figures like Abraham Kuyper, Francis Schaeffer and RC Sproul, Greg makes a powerful case for Christianity as a comprehensive life system. If you want to know what a toaster is supposed to do, he argues, you look to its creation. Why was it made? What was the original intent? It was created to make toast. Creation sets the pattern.

Similarly, Johnson argues, homo sapiens were created to work, marry, learn, relate, talk, etc. Looking at the creation account in Genesis 1-3 (and the theme of God's good creation order as it's carried throughout scripture), he argues that our prime directive as human beings is to establish human civilization to the glory of God. Sin has devastated this original creation pattern, but the good news of salvation in Christ reorients the believer back into the original design. Work, sex, art, education, the sciences and technology--all are callings from God. Salvation is not an escape from this world, but a reorientation back to it and its creator.

If most of the book focuses on how creation started, Johnson ends the book by looking at how it will end: not with destruction, but with restoration. God's presence descends to a renewed earth. We aren't going to heaven; heaven is coming to us. At history's end, all the nations bring their greatest cultural accomplishments--their 'glories'--into that city of God (Rev 21). In Greg's words, the Mona Lisa is going to heaven, as is Baker furniture, the Arc de Triomphe, the 57 Chevy and Thai food. The earth will be liberated from its bondage to decay (Rom 8), and God's people will inherit the earth. The big difference is that the garden will end as a city, the years of human dominion having been redeemed so that civilization stands and is offered to God as worship.

This is a far more compelling vision for civilization than any other out there: Christian, Muslim, or secularist.

Greg's book is filled with scripture. Different chapters deal with topics lile sexuality, culture, work, education and communication, as well as topics like sin, suffering and death, God, and how people should view themselves. Johnson's wells run deep (he's a PhD Candidate in historical theology), and the section on God's selfishness will leave you silent before God. Other sections, though, will leave you rolling with laughter. The book carries endorsements from Bryan Chapell (Covenant Seminary) and Phil Graham Ryken (10th Pres, Philly).

This is really an introduction to Christian theology and the Christian life, but written for the average guy. It's written for people who might not buy "theology" books--a reflection on life in God's world as God's image. Johnson does popular theology, and his perspective is conservative, evangelical and Reformed. But he's contextualized theology for a postmodern audience--biblical truth is constantly marshaled to answer the questions of postmodern people. It's a funny book, but one of the most practical you'll ever read.

The World According to God will challenge you, radically change the way you view life, and build your confidence in God's purpose for the earth. Perfect for younger adults who are bored with the stale cliches of so much evangelicalism in America and long instead for a radical and compelling Christian vision for the world.

Illustrated, with separate introductions for academics and normal people, Johnson avoids technical jargon whenever possible. He has a fun theology website at [URL].

One of my favorites!
When I read this book it takes a hold of me and doesn't let me go. I've read it twice and both times I couldn't put it down. Makes for late nights when I have to get up early for work the next morning, but well worth it. Joyce Carol Oates is my favorite author, everytime I pick up a new book of hers I'm so thankful that I found her. Her style of writting is a joy to read. The world of literature is a much better place with her in it.

A Work Of Excellence
This is one of Ms. Oates' earlier works set in Detroit.
It is a book of excellence as one generation is rolled into the other. A very true to life book where as the characters advance in reaching their destiny however small, they are always setbacks and stumbling blocks, not allowing them to see the light at the end of the tunnel, reminding us of the pathways we've walked before and are forever walking in. This was a very emotional book for me with great depth to the story line.

It is a long book and should be read with patience in order to get the gist of the Detroit the author penetrates in that century with it's poverty, racial and violent concerns. You won't forget Maureen Wendall who some will empathise with you see her desires and the things she yearns for with all her heart and soul.......and you won't forget her brother Jules either...intelligent and so very intricate you wonder what he is about to do next with that brain that never stops ticking. I cannot help saying what a brilliant writer I have found in Ms. Oates, and I encourage those who love her as much as I do to try THEM. I recommend it to all her favourite readers who haven't read this one as yet.

This book is at a constant climax!
This book was somewhat of a struggle for me, though I am a giant Joyce Carol Oates fan. I thought it wasn't possible, but "Them" is more of a brooding, dark, and realistic novel than Oates has pulled off anywhere else in her career. Here is a lot of characters that are in constant danger of falling to pieces, of escaping one another, of realizing their limits as individuals and as a family unit. If you are not a reader who can take a kick in the stomach, don't read this book. However, if you are willing to realize there is a hard edge to life which goes unrecognized each day, pick this book up as soon as you can - Oates creates a world fatalism and human conditions that are at once terrifying, yet beautiful: it is hard to look away. I was held breathless and scared until the last word dropped like a boulder.

Good book
I think this book would be great for "tweens", 9 to 12 year-old readers, because it is highly insightful. However, as a high school student, I found the book lacking in novelty. Perfect for the guy/girl perspective contrast.

This book is great on describing how becoming a teen feels.
This book helped me to understand the way a guy thinks when becoming a teen and also how to talk to them and maybe even start a relationship. I read this in sixth grade and think every parent should get this for their son/daughter.

What a awesome book!
I am 13 years old and I borrowed this book from a friend of mine who got it from a christian bookshop. I think this is a very good book which really helps you with relationships and dealing with the opposite sex. This is also a very interesting book - I couldn't put it down when I started reading it! :)
