This book is perfect if you don't know where to go on Mt Tam's 200 miles of trails but have always wanted to explore the mountain. The trail summaries, "getting there" instructions and maps, as well as the actual trail maps are easy and informative. The trail ratings (for running and hiking) are useful as well. This book makes a great gift.

A series of short stories that will leave you hungering for more. Top name authors who you never knew could even understand a train, let alone wirte about them - but they all rode them. I only read one of these stories before. The superb surprise, an O. Henry without a surprise ending.

This book covered what it is like to be a sports hero and nothave an attitude about it. The people talked about in this book arehero's without being arrogant or hateful.

I've just finished writing a paper for my Advanced Placement Journalism class about freedom of speech and obscenity over the radio. This book was one of my best sources. It portrayed Supreme Court cases and laws passed by Congress in great depth and detail and managed to write it all in a language most Americans will understand. I plan to use this book for every essay I can.

After several months of searching, as this book was already out of print, I finally located a used copy and it turned into the best buy for me in a long time. With an extensive index and related subject references at the end of each chapter, navigating the book is easy. It's size is enough to make most readers weak in the knees, but if it's treated more as a reference book to be used as the situation arises, you'll soon reserve a place of honor on the desk for easy reach. Most of the instructions are easy to understand, even for beginners like myself. There are some areas I've avoided for when I feel more comfortable, but that is a very small portion of the book. I do sometimes wish the examples were a little less basic to help take the reader beyond the very simplest concepts of database management. But, then again that's what really makes this book so helpful in the first place. After two years of regular use, I still refer to it for a refresher.

This 1999, 384 page edition has over 700 black and white photos and over 700 categories of collectibles with values, reproduction alerts and indications of collecting trends. Contains brief histories of items and provides reference books, periodicals and clubs of interest to collectors. There are tips for flea market buying, including dickering over prices. The broad coverage runs from 4-H and airline collectibles, bird houses and bookends, to license plates and limited edition collectibles to yo-yos and Zanesville pottery. Valuable for experts and novices, alike.

The author conveys too little, useful information in a book [at this price]. Most of the text talked about the power of the mind, visualization, spirituality, and other intangibles. Granted, these concepts are important, but give the reader little to grasp and apply in their own horse training. I think Don Blazer may have been trying desperately to reach a minimum number of written pages, hence the nonsense and fluff.

Don Blazer is an opinionated jerk who needs sensitivity training about women.

As a horse trainer I have found this book incredibly valuable. The answer to any training problem with a horse or rider can be found in The Nine Secrets. Reading between the lines is the best part, because this is where the secrets to happiness and success in life will be found. I have recommended this book to my clients as well as friends that are not involved with horses! Everyone will get something from this book!

I bought this book with the hope of reading how top contemporary Protestant scholars address the issue of ecclesiology espoused by Rome and the Orthodox. It left me sadly disappointed. The chapter that addresses the four marks of the church defined in the nicene creed did not attempt to reconcile Protestant perceptions of those terms with the historical understanding of the council fathers. None dealt substantially with Eph 5:32. I was further saddened that one author criticized the piety of Catholics on the basis of his understanding rather than taking the time to just ask some of them why they were doing it. All guns trained against Catholicism while the Eastern Orthodox hold nearly identical views on ecclesiology. Perhaps someday a book with less rhetoric and polemic will attempt to address issues that build understanding rather than polarizing divisiveness.
