It worth reading, I think, for social study. Legal view is general but essential to understand the roots of Japanese social model. It can be interesting for the politicians, not the lawyers.

As Packer says in the Foreword, "The present treatise is vintage Owen, searching and spiritual, devotional and doxological, the product of a masterful mind and a humble heart."

It does not read like a novel, but it is worth the time to read Owen's material on Biblical theology.

Note: Biblical Theology is that which starts with Genesis and builds teachings based *only* on what the particular writers have to say about a topic, building the theme together as one progresses through Scripture. "Systematic Theology" is that which takes a topic (i.e., the atonement) and finds all applicable texts from all over Scripture to form a concise teaching of that doctrine.

Owen's book is a Biblical theology. He begins with the Garden and progresses through the whole of Scripture developing themes and teachings as he takes the reader through.

Difficult but very insightful!

This book, being prepared for the Commission of the European Communities, is concerned with the idea of the urban energy efficiency as a means to provide better environmental performance. Its simplified way of presenting fundamental concepts is very convenient. What I really liked the best is that it is filled with very nice and clear figures that are self-explanatory. However, these figures are not numbered!!!, which makes it hard to link them with the text. The book is very useful for architects and architectural students.

Liberal Peace, Liberal war gives an intriguing look into the thought processes of liberal countries in concern to peaceful and conflictual relations with other countries that it sees to be either liberal or illiberal. This books give a new approach to the role of national values and institutions in shaping of foreign policy.

This is one of the few good book you can find, you can't find one like that easily. It is the best thing you can get that tells you all what you need to know on that topic, if you want a good book, buy this one.

As a pest control educator, I have LOTS of pest control reference books. "Truman's Scientific Guide" is my most used book. While others may have some higher levels of specificity at times, Truman's is the best overall!

This book was required reading for my History 302 class this term, and yet it still managed to be an interesting read, something that is shocking for college material.

It tells the story of a parson and squire in 19th century England who alone would be totally uniteresting in the grand scheme of history, but together they engaged in a battle that was well documented in their diaries, and which gives a good example of the way life was in Victorian England.

All in all, this was a very good read and a must for any English history buff.

The author is an historian and proud of it. I was reading this to get a better feel for the history of the "Rape of the Owens Valley" by the L.A. water wizards. I got the history I was looking for, but it was packaged in a form that made it harder to digest. The author was much too concerned with showing off his vocabulary and "dissing" other historians' views. He cleary had his own academic agenda and it got in the way of communicating. Still, the book gave me what I was looking for and it was worth the read.

This book is NOT for you if you are scoring higher than 1300 in your SATs. First, all the questions will be WAY too easy for you, especially the verbal section. I have this book and the Barrons, and the KAPLAN. I took practice tests from Barrons/Kaplan, and I scored about 1340. I did the practice tests from Princeton's Review and it's up by almost 80 points.(70 points coming from the verbal section!) Because it's easier, it will give you confidence about the SATs. But you must also realize that the REAL SATs are not THAT easy.(just a note: I scored 1350 in the REAL SATs, which is close to the BARRON/KAPLAN score but much lower than the Princeton Review) If you're buying this to build vocabulary, buy WORDSMART, or BARRONS SAT. They have much more words for you than this easy book. BUT!! I HAVE TO ADD that this WILL be helpful to those who score in the range of 1000's. I have seen people with those scores who got 100-point boost after studying this book, one aspect being self-confidence and some humorous material.

Without a doubt, this is the best test preparation book I have ever read, and I have read no small number of them. As others have pointed out, some of the strategies the authors describe border on the obvious, but these are sufficiently important, few, and entertainingly presented that this small lapse is quite acceptable. The book's practice tests are refreshingly indistinguishable from real SATs; they are certainly the best available, though those in Kaplan's SAT book are quite good as well.

Many reviewers have declared this book to be insufficient for those who seek high scores. I disagree strongly. Good advice is good advice, even if presented in a manner less than ceremonial. Pedantic word lists assembled without attention given to what words will likely appear on the SAT, though impressive and temptingly concrete, are not the best use of any preparer's time. Of greater importance than a presentation of all the math and English needed for the SAT is a thorough, insightful walking through of SAT questions, and that's where this book shines.

This book, the College Board's book of ten real SATs, and a functioning noggin are all anyone needs to succeed on the SAT. But if you've got money to spare, you might try the Kaplan book, too -- another look at strategy and a few more realistic practice tests can only help.
