Unreal (Story 7 Smart Ice-Cream)
I think that this story would be suited to children 7-12 years of age.

In this story there is a very smart boy who always gets 100 out of 100 for Maths and English.
He teases people with pimples and other problems, but Peppi the ice-cream man fixes these problems with ice-cream.
There is a twist at the end that you couldn't guess. Read to find out.

This was an okay story. It is pretty short but has enough infomation to get the story line across. There were a few funny parts that make the story interesting.

Great!! Loved the funny stories
This book is great, my favorite story is called "Without a Shirt". It is about a boy that cannot say a sentence or paragraph without ending it with the phrase - "Without a shirt". Of course there is more to the story, but I think it nice to with hold the ending for the reader.

I think that this book was very interesting and creative.
Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it dowm because the stories were very interesting with a good sense of humor. I really like Paul Jennings and all of his books so I gave him 5 stars

Funny, Entertaning, most interesting book of the year!
This book was both interesting and funny. It's like mixing apples and orranges, some stories are sweet, funny and entertaning, and then some are sour and funny in an unpoliticly correct way. But in anyway that it is funny this book will always make you laugh. So, get covered with laughs and fun and add this book to your shopping cart.

Grandad's gifts

eerie picture book
Grandad's gifts is a picture book for primary-school aged kids (especially if they like Gary Crew's scarey picture books). Peter Goldthorpe's illustrations are amazing.

There's a secret cupboard, a creepy voice, and an incredibly weird fox. Shane discovers Grandad's gifts, but I had some trouble following exactly what was going on.

Maybe/maybe not
This book has an excellent chapter on injections. The rest of the book contains things you can typically find in your user's manual. If you are interested in knowing every single aspect of the GC, this would be a good book. If you are just trying to get the GC up and running with a new compound, this may not be your best bet. Too much information and not enough time to absorb it all.

A must read book for serious chromatographer
Analytical gas chromatography, second edition is an excellent reference book for those of us who take gas chromatography seriously, not as a fringe technology, nor learn enough to get by. The second edition was substantially revised from the first edition. Very up to date information with insights on why things appears in certain way. Chapter 5, variables in the gas chromatographic process, and chapter 6 (subsection 9), optimizing operational parameters for specific columns, and chapter 8 on selective tuning are very useful and invaluable.

My second response
The first is a few posts back. I had a fellow in Ireland email me reference my post and we started conversing on this book and I loaned it to him for awhile. My friends said to me, "oh you'll never get it back", but he was true to his word and its good to know that there are still those you can "shake hands with" that are sincere and truthful. This book was supposed to be a true account of the FFL in 1984 but after reading "legionestrange@usa.net"'s post I don't know. Maybe most of it was just a story, done like a Lowell Thomas book, "larger then life". It's a good read anyway, and the author has had some more recent adventures which may be worthy of another book. But he never responded to 2 letters I wrote thanking him for writing his book. Perhaps "legionestrange@usa.net" is right about the author and maybe he is the one that needs to take up writing with a truthful account of Legion life. Gregg C. Jennings

Why?
The one question that keep's running through my mind is, Why did this guy join the Legion? Reading "Mouthful of Rocks" is like looking into the mind of a little boy who, while playing "soldier", gets upset and decides to take his toys and go home. I enjoyed reading the book, but not for the reason's I had hoped to. The book has little to do with life in the Legion, but has everything to do with Mr. Jennings seeming life long quest to blame everyone and everything around him for the decisions he makes. From page one, he seem's to want us to know that he is irresponsibile, childish, and a drunk. It is no secret that life in the Legion is hard, but Mr. Jennings goes out of his way to make it even harder. Constant disregard of orders, joining a clique of racist's, and avid drinking all point to the only ending this book could have; the little boy running away. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone with an intrest in the Legion, but any intrested in a childish mind would find it a great read.

You won't want to do anything else once you start reading!
Christian Jennings gives you insight into one of the most mysterious group of fighting men ever assembled. From the mountainsides of Orange to the deserts of Djibouti you will face the harsh reality that is the Legion Etrangere. They didn't ask you to come, you volunteered for this! Travel, see the world, be part of an elite fighting unite; have your world turned upside down(literally), get punched in the mouth, kicked in the face. You deserved it you know, but hey look at it like this. Being a legionaire in the French Foreign Legion is easy. Being a civilian is easy. It's the transition between the two that Christian Jennings never quite figures out. Entertaining as the book is, it is filled with "out of the norm" occurences. For example, all of the Legions troops take their basic training at Castelnaudary and not outside of Orange in the mountains. Of all I've read about the Legion, Christian Jennings time their seems more the exception than the norm. And one last thing, even though I think this is a very entertaining book and well written, it IS written by a DESERTER!! That said, for an armchair adventurer, it is a must read.
