Weird, but I'm sure younger children would enjoy it
This book was about a girl named Faith who moved to Mexico. She didn't know how to speak Spanish, and didn't think it was possible for her to learn. This presented a problem at school, where most or all of the people didn't know how to speak English. She wanted to move back to San Fransico, but her mom said no. So, she built a rocket ship and ended up flying to some island. It was really strange, but I assume younger children would like it.
This is a hilarious book!
Faith and the Electric Dogs is such a good book! Patrick Jennings, the book's author, let the reader see the story through the eyes of Edison, a Mexican street dog, or electric dog, who has been rescued by an American 11-year-old named Faith. Faith hates Mexico, mainly becuase a boy in her class is incredibly mean to her and teases her, and no one can understand her due to her not knowing Spanish. Therefore she decides to leave by rocket ship and go back to her home in San Francisco with Edison. The fuel leaks, though, and Eddy and Faith land on a bone-shaped island inhabited only by other electric dogs. I found the definitions in the margin very helpful, because they tell you the definitions of Spanish words and other languages, mostly Woof and Bow Wow. You don't even have to like dogs; anyone who loves a good laugh will love this easy-to-read book. This would make a great Christmas present!
FUNNY & GREAT 4 MANY AGES!
This book is really funny! Just read it, and I seriously bet you'll like it.

Another great book by Patrick Jennings
I absolutely love this book, really couldn't put it down! Like "Faith and the Rocket Dogs" and "Faith and the Electric Cat", this book inspires further reseach while being completely intertaining. I wasn't a reader as a kid and at 39 I am really enjoying books written for a younger audience. Both for myself and to read aloud to my not yet reading kids. This book is as wildly imaginitive as Holes but with so much more researched detail. I think kids will learn so much from reading this book and want to know more about some things in the story that they may not be familial with. It is the story of a boy and his mom who move into a new building as a result of a rent increase and the things they learn about The Beastly Arms. For more you'll have to read the book.
A Sure-Fire Winner With Kids
The Beastly Arms is a highly engaging, very enjoyable read. Patrick Jennings has come up with a quirky, interesting protagonist: Nickel, an imaginative young city boy who photographs clouds. The writing shines: unique, well-observed details; vivid scenes; spare, yet rich and believable dialogue. Like photographs, the images are so rich and sensitive they live on in the memory. There's a subtle wit and wisdom to the book and an avoidance of cuteness or cliche that kids (and adults) will appreciate. Nickel's closest relationships-with his single mom, with his school friend and her parents, with his pet kangaroo rat, Miriam-are all well-drawn and sympathetic. When Nickel and his mother move into a mysterious building called The Beastly Arms, the story leads to an exciting, unexpected, and fantastic (in the best sense) conclusion.

A Cool Book & But not as good as the first.
I really liked the first book, Faith and the Electric Dogs better. The second book seemed to go on too long and was kind of predoictable. It was a fun book to read, but the first was the best. IF you haven't read the first, buy that one. But don't just take my work for it.
Faith and the Rocket Cat
This book is from an electric dog's point of view; electric meaning a dog that comes from many breeds, basically a mutt, named Edison. Now Edison is no ordinary dog, he is a literate, which means that he can read, write, and understand what humans say to him. In this book Edison is writing a story about his adventures with his master Faith. In the beginning of the book Edison, Faith, Faith's mom and step-dad are moving from El Perro Corriente, Mexico to San Francisco, California. On their plane ride there Edison meets a full breed dog named Daphne and he falls in (puppy) love with her, but he feels as if his feelings aren't being returned. Edison is in luck though because it turns out that his new house is practically neighbors with Daphne's. There is one more thing that is out of the ordinary about Edison (besides the fact that he's bilingual), he and his master built a rocket ship that actually worked, but most people don't believe her. For example, when Faith started school again in San Francisco and she told her class about the rocket nobody believed her. Especially this boy named Alex, so Faith invited him over one day to experience a flight first-hand. Edison also wanted to invite someone (Daphne), but every time he even came close to her, her master told him to go away or she would even call the dog pound. So Edison convinced Faith to act as if she was her mother and invite Daphne and her master over for coffee. On the day of the little get-together something really bad happened. The rocket took off! With Faith, Edison, Daphne, Alex, and Faith's mother inside. And to add to the matter Daphne ate all of the fuel, which was pig-fat and jalapenos. So the Rocket died out in the air, but luckily they landed safely because they had parachutes. They all landed in Death Valley, but they didn't land together they were separated in the wind. Will they find each other in the desert, Will they Daphne ever become interested in Edison, or Will they even make it out alive? Find out by reading the book.

I loved this story so much, I devoured it in two days. It's creative sense of humor and adventure kept me reading. Patrick Jennings is an excellent writer. In our Book Club and in my class, we discuss his books. If you've ever read FAITH AND THE ELECTRIC DOGS or FAITH AND THE ROCKET CAT, then you'll love PUTNAM AND PENNYROYAL.
