good introductory genetics textbook
It is a good written book. It explains things very well in general. It is not as complicated as other genetic textbooks

i want to review this book again
i have read this book once but i am very keen to read again this book so i want to read this book and for that i want to see the review of this book.

A very up-to-date genetics text
If you are looking for a book that describes classical genetics in great details, this book is not for you. To me, the main effort of the authors is to focus on the modern idea of how geneticists think and work. The organization of the text is nicely arranged so that readers can understand the concepts in one chapter that lead to the more advanced one in the next chapter. The materials presented are not too "introductory", and it is not too difficult for a typical undergraduate student to understand either. Also, It can properly serve as a good reference for a graduate student, like myself, when a time of need in some genetic concepts!

Great Book on a Great Man
This is an excellent biography of one of the greatest lawmen in U.S. history. I've heard a lot of rants from misguided Bonnie and Clyde fans about the book's alleged inaccuracies. Well, there hasn't been a book on Bonnie and Clyde or Depression outlaws published to date (including my own!) that hasn't had some drastic errors in it, one reason being that most of the books, including I'm Frank Hamer, draw heavily from the Fugitives, the ghosted 1934 memoirs of Bonnie's mother and Clyde's sister. I'm not one of these people who presume to know who killed the two highway patrolmen at Grapevine. It may have been Henry Methvin, Clyde Barrow, Bonnie Parker, or all three for that matter (ballistics evidence indicated three guns were fired). Nor am I one of those misguided worshippers of Bonnie and Clyde, who were really nothing more than a pair of two-bit, scatter-brained, trigger-happy psychos. But all that is neither here nor there, as this is not simply a "Bonnie & Clyde book." This is a biography, and a damn good one, of the man who tracked them down--Frank Hamer, who captured or killed dozens of other criminals and carried with him the scars, and much of the lead, from many gunfights with maggots of the Clyde Barrow sort. Hamer came out of retirement to run down the Barrow gang. The ambush of Clyde and Bonnie was the perfect closing of Hamer's career and a great service to America as well. It was the job he was made to do and one that had to be done. Forget Hollywood. The real Bonnie and Clyde were murderous criminals who deserved just what they got. And Frank Hamer was just the man to give it to them.

I'm Frank Hamer : The Life of a Texas Peace Officer
It has been many years since I first read this book and I found it very informative. I am sure there are bound to be some errors but on the most part it is historically accurate. It is not only about ending Bonnie and Clyde's murderous spree but about the man that did it and how he became a Texas Police Officer and came up through the ranks to become one of the greatest Texas Rangers who ever lived. The review written by anomie@mail.com, is total bull written buy someone who evidently prefers to believe the glamorized version of the Bonnie & Clyde movie. I have been a Texas State Police officer for 23 years and have read some of the actual reports of Bonnie and Clydes exploits and to contradict anomie@mail.com, Bonnie and Clyde deserve no respect as stated by anomie. Anomie needs to be better informed of the facts before making reviews. Sorry for the rant but I hate for anyone to bad mouth a great man and take up for a couple of cold blooded illiterate killers who were glamorized by Hollywood as a cute loving couple out for a Sunday drive.

HAMER, STRAIGHT SHOOTIN STORY.
ITS BEEN THIRTEEN YEARS SINCE I INITIALY READ THIS BOOK. I HAVE BEEN DYING TO READ IT AGAIN BUT CANT FIND A COPY TO PURCHASE. BEING AN AMETUER HISTORIAN ON LATE NINETEENTH AND EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY LAWMEN AND OUTLAWS I FOUND THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THIS TEXT TO BE ACCURATE AND AUTHORATATIVE. A LOT OF MY INTEREST COMES FROM BEING A TEXAS PEACE OFFICER AND AN AFFICIIANADO OF FIREARMS BOTH MODERN AND HISTORICAL. THIS BOOK IS PREDOMINANTLY WRITTEN IN THE INFORMAL AND WESTERN COLOCIAL WHICH FITS THE SUBJECT MATTER. IT IS A WELL VERSED BIOGRAPHY ON ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING AND COLORFUL FIGURES IN WESTERN HISTORY. IT IS A SHAME THAT MORE WRITERS AND OR MOVIE PRODUCERS HAVE NOT TAKEN INTEREST IN THIS UNIQUE AND POTENT FIGURE. THIS WOULD BE A GOOD SUBJECT FOR A DIRECTOR OF THE ILK OF SAY JOHN MILIUS. BEYOND THAT LET ME SAY IF THAT IF YOU ARE TIRED OF THE TRUMPED UP BONNIE AND CLYDE FLUFF AND WOULD LIKE TO GET A REALISTIC AND HEROIC ACCOUNT OF THE GENTLEMAN LAWMAN THAT ASSISTED IN RIDDING SCOCIETY OF THESE AND OTHER NO ACCOUNTS, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. THE GOOD GUYS STORY, FOR A CHANGE.

Smith shares his thoughts with extreme candor
Dean Smith shares his thoughts on Carolina basketball and his life with extreme candor, and warmth to all readers. His candor still today can be heard on occassion on the Road to the Final Four where he isn't afraid to point out who he feels is bad and what he feels about college basketball today. If your a fan of basketball this to me is a Must Read!

don't expect kiss and tell...
This memoir is consistent with what I have observed of Smith over the years: intelligent, organized, interested in the world outside of basketball, publicly reserved, and loyal to a fault. The last two characteristics make the book a little frustrating to read: Smith will not name names or criticize his former players or coaches, though if you are fan of Carolina basketball you will know the names to fill into the anecdotes and incidents he describes (e.g. J.R. Reid's suspension from the 1989 ACC tournament semifinal for missing curfew.) Nevertheless, it is far better than most other sports memoirs (i.e. he actually had a life off the court)and should broadly appeal to people not especially interested in basketball in general or Carolina in particular.

At Last, Dean Speaks
This is what every die-hard Carolina basketball fan has been waiting years for-an opportunity to hear in-depth from Dean Smith. This book is a wonderful example of what a great teacher Smith is. The stories are great and we finally get to learn a little about the personal side of Coach Smith. A must read for all North Carolina enthusiasts.

Nice course material for learning ECG reading
We use this book in addition to our own internal ECG course. It gives plenty nice examples for ECGs with a short description, which is not to complex for our audience (programmers and salespeople for out PC-based ECG systems). Excellent work! The authors also have an excellent website with lots of ECG material.

if you are into apocalypse/earth changes(2012)!!
The book is about the coming changes to our consciousness in the next age.The author's theory is that the stories through the ages about the end of the world are not what is really going to happen, but that we will change as a species,on a mental level.Every 26,000 years our sun is in alignment with the very center of our galaxy.the center of the galaxy is connected to everything that revolves around it.For a long time our world has been in a down cycle, very low consciousness, greed, anger materialism. There was a time (our golden age)when we were in a up cycle, when our world/consciousness was connected to this nucleus/life force. The book goes into detail about astrological alignments and the old religions that new about this connection to our consciousness. This knowledge has trickled down to our times through things like the occult and meditation teachings, but has become distorted. It made me think about why it seems that the world is going crazy(lots of medicated people out there!),and that this is part of the effect before the 2012/new age changing. It might also explain why more and more people are experiencing paranormal stuff and becoming more spiritual, and the tensions for war are also building. It got me to read some more books on this subject.Instead of doom and gloom about coming earth changes the author's theory gives us some light at the end of the tunnel.

Not a Study Guild
I must agree with the other reviewers. I have used other Sybex book and found them very helpful. This one however.......

If you have ALOT of experince with 4.11 and/or can set up a 5.0 network in your home, this MIGHT help. If not, it can cause you to fail the exam.

The book can leave you feeling overconfident, like me. I read the chapters, did the study review (both in the book and online) and did great with them. Today I took the test and FAILED! The book dose not prep you for the type of questions Novell asks nor the style of Novell testing - that freaked me out more then anything (it is not like Microsoft) and may have helped in my poor performance.

The book is a good overview of Netware 5.0, put that is all it is

Well written and useful
I passed all three of these CNE exams after studying this book. (I have experience with NetWare 3 & 4 but not NetWare 5.) I agree with other reviewers that this book is not for novices; novices should take a live class or CBT not just read a book. The book is well organized and well written -- much better than the companion volume "Integrating Windows NT" by Scott Reeves. With a few small exceptions, it covers what you need to know to pass the exams. I have some problems with the relevance of Novell's test objectives to real-world networks: there is over-emphasis on ZEN-Works, too little about login scripts, a glib and unrealistic dismissal of Microsoft clients for NetWare, and excessive discussion about an imaginary Project Team lead by an "NDS Expert". But this is Novell's fault, not the book's. The major fault of the book is that the practice questions are much easier than those of the real exam, and are almost all multiple-choice even though the real exam is not.

Well-written and easy to understand
This book is a great explanation of Netware. It's the best of the printed materials I've seen on the topic (Novell's own study kit book is horrible by comparison). I just passed the CNA exam, and felt well-prepared, though I agree with other reviewers that you should always use more than one study aid. The one weakness of this book is that the questions at the end of the chapters are not much like the actual test, though in all fairness, it would be impossible to simulate the test in a written format. I also used Self Test Software's exam simulation, which was awesome--just like the real thing.

Science Fiction Audiences: Watching Doctor Who and Star Trek (Popular Fiction Series)
Published in Hardcover by Routledge (1995)
Authors: John Tulloch and Henry Jenkins
Amazon base price: $75.00
Average review score:

Insightful but overly academic
An academic, though interesting look at the opinions of various viewers in regards to the world's two most famous sci-fi television shows, Doctor Who and Star Trek. The Doctor Who section explores viewer reactions to (if I'm not mistaken) the Jon Pertwee story "The Monster of Peladon", an odd choice as it is not generally considered one of the more popular Doctor Who adventures. The story was chosen for analysis as it features strong social and political commentary, including the subjects of worker's rights, unionization, and women's liberation. As the book is a scholarly look at the average science-fiction viewer, it tends to be somewhat dry and difficult to follow at times. Overall an interesting oddity, though probably not for the average reader.

Agree with Robert Smith's review, but would say "stinks"
This book confuses the student by calling the Zenworks Desktop Management component "Workstation Manager". Leaves out phase 4 & 5 of the Zenworks setup process, mixing all into only 3 phases. Never mentions "ReRegister Workstations". Coverage of DNS Resource objects is minimal. It completely leaves out any discussion of A-Records, MX-Records, NS-Records, and PTR-Records. Is very weak on DNS & DHCP IMPORTING of databases, and adding licenses later. No mention of NSS Resource objects, such as MMibm, and others as on the test. Recommend Clarkes notes instead!

Hey, it worked for me!!!
Interested in updating my CNE 4.11 to 5, I purchased this book as my only training source. (I have yet to actually use Netware 5) After reading the book cover to cover, and then studying the Chapter reviews and practice test, I took the update test and passed on the first attempt. Granted, it does seem to leave out quite a bit of information on the new NSS product, but it still gave me enough information to pass the test, without using any other training material.

Not a bad book.....
This wasn't the strongest Sybex book I've ever purchased, but it worked well when used with other resources. Not a bad book. Keeping in mind that this book is written for the experienced IT professional, after all, you are supposed to be a CNE already, it covers what it needs to. It makes the points of what will be on the test and does an adequate job of it. The practice tests were probably the most useful portion of the book.

Remember that the purpose of this book is to assist you in passing the test, not to be a real world reference. If you want a real world reference manual, buy a Netware 5 reference book, not a test study guide.

Holy cow! Over-rated!
This book was horrible. It was either too complex, or much too simplistic. There was no measure of explanation on the connections between the various subjects, and no tying in of the various concepts 'learned'... This was bad... DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!
