The most comprehensive public record guide I've found
I've worked with public records for some time and have bought many books . . . some good and some bad. This is the best I've come across. The information is current and the format is easy to use.

The depth of information provided, particularly in the county court and state agency sections, is very comprehensive. This book provides more locations and more details than anything else I've seen and I have them all.

If you work with public records, forget the other guides and put your money here . . . you won't be disappointed

Profiles more than 20,000 record keeping agencies
Now in a fully updated and expanded second edition, The Sourcebook To Public Record Information profiles more than 20,000 record keeping agencies including county courts, real estate recording offices, state agencies, and federal courts. Here detailed are addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, web addresses, access procedures and restrictions, fees, turnaround times, and more. The Sourcebook To Public Record Information is an essential, core reference for librarians, background investigators, journalists, attorneys, genealogists, law enforcement officials, private investigators, policy makers, pre-employment screeners, and academic researchers.

Disney's Sketchbooks - Great Resource for Artists!
This fine addition to the Disney Sketchbook series has many of the wonderful sketches done by Disney's animation department for Peter Pan, including many pieces from the storyboards, and several sketches of scenes that never made it into the final film.

Artists that would like to study the Disney style of drawing and animation should find this volume a terrific addition to their collection despite its rather high price. As a student of art, and a fan of the Disney style, I highly recommend any of these books for your library.

A Beautiful Book
This is an exquisitely made book and if you are at all interested in animation or disney art, this or any of the sketchbook series books are a must. Each character has it's section where various sketch drawings are shown. There are also some background pictures. No text, but a delight to flip through. Beautifully designed and packaged.

Great Catalog
I thought this book was great! The pictures of the objects are beautiful. Where a picture could not be obtained there is usually a detailed sketch of the object. The descriptions give not only insight into use of the archaological object but also surrounding information like similar objects and archeological context. Then the essays descibe the time period and unknown/debated issue of Egyptian Archeology. As a newbie to Egyptian Archaeology I found the book easy to read and felt that things were explained well.

A must for radiology residents
Fleckenstein's Radiologic Anatomy is a fundamental, yet comprehensive text that every radiology resident must have. It explores in detail all of the major systems: gastrointestinal, genitourinary, musculoskeletal, head and neck, thoracic, and even vascular. It may very well be the only radiologic anatomy book needed for residency training. Although Netter's Anatomy is a more than appropriate companion.

excellent
These volumes, written by a distinguished American Egyptologist, were first published in 1906 and 1907. In his introduction to this re-edition, Egyptologist Peter Piccione provides a short biography of the author as well as a historical account of the 5 tomes. Volume 1 discusses the First through the Seventeenth Dynasties; Volume 2, the Eighteenth Dynasty; Volume 3, the Nineteenth Dynasty; and Volume 4, the Twentieth through Twenty-Sixth Dynasties. Volume 5 contains supplementary bibliographies and indices for the previous volumes; Piccione has added a more recent bibliography that proves to be quite useful. Each book offers a description of texts along with comments on historicity and significance, before continuing onto easy-to-understand translations. Many of the texts included are never-before-seen passages, while others are quite popular: the Palermo Stone, Letter of Pepi II, Tale of Sinuhe, Tomb of Rekhmire, Capture of Kadesh, Papyrus Harris, Adoption Stela of Nitocris, and so on. This is the most complete, easy-to-consult translation of Egyptian historical texts ever available in the field of Egyptology. A highly recommended resource for students and scholars.

Excellent introductory new age primer
This book does an excellent job at providing an introductory overview of a large number of "new age" topics in an easy-to-read style. Reincarnation, crystals, chakras, channeling, meditation, auras, lost civilazations and the evolution of religion are covered clearly and simply. The authors (Bartlett and Whiteheart) have many years of experience in the subjects they discuss, and their passion and enthusiasm shines through!

Breaking the Frame: Metalepsis and the Construction of the Subject (Theory and Interpretation of Narrative Series)
Published in Hardcover by Ohio State Univ Pr (Txt) (2002)
Authors: Debra N. Malina, Peter Rabinowitz, and James Phalen
Amazon base price: $39.95
Used price: $14.56

Levels of coolness
Malina reads three very cool writers here -- Samuel Beckett, Christine Brooke-Rose, and Angela Carter. Their challenging novels grow more fascinating as Malina explores their uses of metalepsis.

(This is a very useful term from narrative theory. When the characters in the movie "Pleasantville" get sucked into the television and start living the lives of '50s sit-com characters -- that's metalepsis. They've left one narrative level and entered another.)

Malina shows that these writers have been playing sophisticated versions of this game for years. Metalepsis gives their novels uncanny power to invade a reader's life, and it raises wild questions about the political potential of fiction -- and the nature of reality itself.
Coolness, in short.

Chaos Theory and James Joyce's Everyman (Florida James Joyce Series)
Published in Hardcover by University Press of Florida (1999)
Authors: Peter F. Mackey and Zack Bowen
Amazon base price: $55.00
Average review score:

University Press of Florida; info@upf.com
In a helpful, lucent introductory chapter, Mackey (Univ. of South Carolina) makes intelligible--even to the nonphilosopher--the distinction between classical mechanics and postmodernism and the role of chaos theory in mediating between the two. According to Mackey, philosophers from Aristotle to Einstein have viewed nature as a machine--deterministic, evolving through a chain of cause and effect, potentially knowable, and governed by the laws of logic. By contrast, postmodernism views life, and language, as and ultimately unreal. To find a middle ground, Mackey turns to chaos theory, which "accepts the indeterminateness and interrelationships emphasized in postmodernism yet affirms the existence of an aboriginal reality." In a dense and insightful analysis of Ulysses, Mackey applies this theory to the life of Leopold Bloom, finding him at the end of the book a man who has been left stronger and more hopeful by the trivial and accidental events of the day, but no less uncertain about his future. Equipped with endnotes, this book will serve upper-division undergraduates through faculty.
