Gives valuable information in one complete reference
Having previously read "Netware Professional Reference" by Karanjit Siyan, I hoped this edition would follow in the same light. This book is a real help for network administrators as it gives good examples and solutions of day to day problems.

This book is designed as a reference not a study guide. This is one of the best Intranetware books I have read to date.

I've used this book as a desk reference and it's great.
I have all of my "favorite places" marked for quick reference. The book is not organized to study for CNE exams. However, it has the information for Intranetware Network Administrators need for managing their networks. It contains a great index for quick look-ups.

Amphibians and Reptiles of the West Indies: Descriptions, Distributions, and Natural History

An essential opus for nesoherpetophiles
This book will be extremely useful for those with a serious interest in the West Indian amphibian and reptile fauna -- i. e., beyond nice pictures and easy identification, two things it does NOT have. It gives details of distribution for each of the nearly 600 species known to 1991 (a number of species have been described since), including maps with locality dots. For each species there is a also a technical description (size, scale counts, etc.), a list of subspecies, if any, published references where illustrations can be found, and notes on the natural history. The distributional information and the notes on natural history are probably the most useful aspects of this book. It would have been much more useful to have a means of identifying the species. The technical descriptions will help some, but there is no way to know, if you have a specimen in the hand and read a description that seems to fit, whether there might not be a description that is a closer fit a few pages away; and often, with similar species the descriptions will not discriminate them, anyway. Based on distributions, you may be able to eliminate some species, and arrive at a tentative identification. You will also have to have a good background knowledge of what the genera are like. So, this book is not a field guide for the novice but an excellent reference for those with deeper interests.

Where is my dictionary?
Great topic. But sometimes seems to read out of focus. I am not seminary educated, (in fact 4yrs of college was all I could stand). It appears it might be more directed toward the author's peers, versus the "everyday evangelist" - as myself. I work with a bunch of programmers (my peers) who are 20-30yrs old (I'm 40ish) - and I did find the book to be helpful in understanding a bit of their world view.

I kept a dictionary handy while reading this book - and found as I looked up the words that I don't hear in every day conversation, there could have been a half-dozen more effective ways to make the same statement. (Okay, so my vocabulary got stretched a little )

I did like how the author steps you through the case for Jesus' subversiveness (where's my dictionary?). I would like to have heard a little more on "Relating Christ to a New Generation...". Overall= good reading, interesting perspective on our culture, and reiteration on some solid truths.

Where's the Mythos?
For fans of Lovecraft? From what I've seen this has nothing to do with the Cthulhu Mythos. No Cthulhu, R'Lyeh, Nyarlathotep. I don't think you should have "psychic gumshoe" in horror stories. It sounds like something from the kid's section. If you want Mythos buy Lovecraft.

Great Collection!!
This is a great collection of stories. Recommended for not only fans of Carter and Lovecraft, But for people who want some good old fun action packed horror/adventure stories. I highly recommend this!!

NEW TWISTS ON OLD FAVORITE
Robert Price is a genius editor. Rather than having his eight writers created new stories of the late Lin Carter's hero in the exact same mold as the originator, he let them run loose with the character. The results are 8 marvelous adventures, each giving us
new and different approaches to Anton Zarnak' from action, to horro and even some comedy mixed-in. More anthologies should be this
fun.

Sadly short
I purchased this book in the hopes that it would, in fact, be a book. NOPE. It's a bound collection of pictures with a small, gloss-the-surface "story" about the history of the originators--Black Sabbath. I'm still waiting for a "book" book. One without pictures and quotes from more than one band member (like the "Oral History" thing), much like one of the many Led Zeppelin books. ("Hammer of the Gods" was pretty good). Anyway, I guess I'll keep waiting.

This book is BLODDY AWESOME!
Man, I've been an OZZY fan since TRIBUTE but I had no idea how much Sabbath affected metal music until I read this book! I took the author's advice and bought ALL of the Sabbath albums. Now I can't get them out of my head! BLACK SABBATH AND OZZY RULES!!

Another cool thing is that the guy who wrote the liner notes for the KISS remasters wrote this book. He also wrote the copy on OZZY's bubble-gum cards that I bought at Spencers. DO me a favor, Mr. Conte--write about JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN next, OK?

Peace!

Had a lot of good pictures.
There was any info really. There was a lot but the same stuff you can get on the internet. The whole thing was practically pictures but they had some really good pictures so thats why i gave it a higer rating. If you want info don't get this book but if you just want to look at some sick pictures i would get it for an ozzy memorance thing when he dies.

Interesting
I think that this book included a couple of true facts, but a lot of imagination, how could you know what someone about 100-110 years ago was thinking.I think Flora Seymour did fairly well job, considering that she was writing a children's storybook. I applaud you Flora Seymour!

Sacagawea Review
This book was VERY exciting!! I am done with this book now, but I still think about it!! Sacagawea went through ALOT!! For instance like moving, making alot of stuff like: her clothes, shoes, tents, and baskets. Think about it!! Having to make all this stuff. It would take days!! I am sure thankful we have machines now to make different things!! I highly recommend this book!!

Useful but Incomplete and Does Not Add Original Thinking

I was quite interested to see this book very favorably reviewed in the International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (IJIC), the top journal in the field, so it was with some disappointment that I found it to be less robust than I expected.

At one level, that of a very basis reference, it could be a solid four-star effort, and I give the author and publisher credit for having conceptualized and executed this on-going endeavor. Especially bothersome is its limited coverage--a directory such as this, especially in the aftermath of 9-11, must be comprehensive and include countries like Colombia, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the Central Eurasian "stans" to name a number that are not covered.

I found both the updates and the further readings to be a very mixed bag, with too many countries that I am familiar with suffering from what appears to be either an over-reliance on one or two primary sources or somewhat random notation. It is clear to me that this book does *not* benefit from a systematic literature review, nor is it really current with the great web sites that are available, both in general terms as well as with specific country orientations--on top of the limited coverage, less than a third of the world, this really reduces its value.

This book has the potential to be a five-star reference work of enormous value, if it makes the following changes:

1) Create a broader board of advisors. The author performs heroically for one man, but clearly does not have the global network of true experts that is needed to make sure his coverage is world-class.

2) Add a State of Intelligence report to the front of the book, with regional overviews. The emergence of a European intelligence community, the impact of the Kosovo war on this movement as well as NATO, NATO's publication of an open source intelligence handbook, etc., the specific points of failure for 9-11 as well as the Afghan campaign that failed to capture the Al Qada leadership, all should be in there, together with the Homeland Security initiative and new relations among nations now quasi-committed to improved cooperation against terrorism--while decapitating their programs against crime. To be a proper reference work, this book must also take care in the overview to tease out the threads of progress among the varied intelligence communities that exist-national civilian, military, law enforcement, investigative journalism, business intelligence, and academic studies on intelligence. The fact that it does not reference such vital organizations as the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, or the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts, for example, suggests that the book is being put together along very old lines of thinking, and is not yet coming to grips with the dramatic changes occurring in the real world of intelligence.

3) The publisher, or a non-profit foundation, must fund a proper literature review. Even for the United States, the most obvious country, most of the intelligence reform books published between 1999 and 2002 and listed by the Council on Intelligence do not appear in this reference work, nor does it retain the Aspin-Brown Commission Report or the House Permanent Select Committee Report on IC21, as references of continuing relevance.

4) The index must be expanded to include all authors and organizations.

5) The acronyms must be expanded to be truly comprehensive. A one page listing that is mostly military ranks and failed to include the acronyms PfP (Partnership for Peace), OSINT (open source intelligence), or C4I (command, control, communications, and intelligence--a vital aspect of understanding where intelligence fits in the larger picture) is simply not serious.

Bottom line: I will keep this book as a light-weight reference, but I will not buy it again unless the publisher gets serious about producing a quality product that is truly international and reflective of the intelligence reform and intelligence failure lines of inquiry that are well-known to serious professionals who understand that intelligence is the core competency of both governments and organizations in the age of information.

A Students View.
Its not that its a bad book, but that it was certainly not a book that I feel makes the subject easy to understand or comprehend. I feel that there must be other books, such as those in similar fields by Cengal and Boles.

If its prescribed for a paper I would reckomend getting it out from the library rather than buying it. I had to buy it for an open book exam, and am now having trouble selling it, no one wants it!

If you want a book to read to learn about thermodynamics try other titles, this one wont do your effort justice.

(I got a B in the paper anyways)
