It is a heart pumping, memory making and revisiting books. It is the kind of book that you need if you are a Diehard Viking Fan.

Wonderfully written book by a writer who really knows how to use his words. Full of fun and lots of facts. Pictures. I thought I knew the Vikings, but now I really know the Vikings. Enjoyable from start to finish. Can't wait to read what John Holler writes next. This is the most factual and informative book ever done on the Vikings. I'm over 50, and I enjoyed it. But I think it could be just as enjoyable for fans as young as 10 or 11.

My neice and I read this a-page-at-a-time while on vacation. Now I'm buying it for her birthday. We enjoyed a daily chuckle and an occasional laugh out loud as we considered the musings of these insightful children. I have three babies of my own and my niece is a pre-med pediatric student. She and I identified with these letters and we wondered how God might answer. Our favorite: "Dear God; Maybe people in this world wouldn't kill each other so much if they had their own rooms. It works for my brother and me." If you have children under 10 and woder just what is going on in their busy minds, you HAVE to have a copy of this. If you don't have children and enjoy hearing the voice of innocence, you'll like this book too.

I actually used the basic book for the Atari. Dr. Wacko has an easy style and approach to learning to program. He even includes already written programs to play around with and incourages the user to add in his\her input. This book was my favorite of around 100 books. Unfortunately, I lost the book through theft.

I was given this classic about 15 years ago. It was the basis of everything I ever knew about programming in Atari BASIC. Now I am learning Visual Basic and C++. All the basic concept I laened from Dr. C. Wacko still aply. It's unfortunate that due to the fact Atari BASIC and Atari computers have become obsolete, so has this hilarious and educatonal book. It's better than the "complete idiot's guide's" or "...for dummies" books could ever hope to be. Wouldn't it be great if David Heller wrote new books for current programming languages?

"Managing For Excellence" is a portable well-illustrated handbook, which harbours all the essential tips for improving (individual) performance. The book is very straightforward. It is comprehensive, and highlights all the important factors that strengthen and weakens partnerships.
This is one book which helps its user to better understand strategies and improve output. It is superbly organized, and presents its techniques in a practical format.
However, anyone who already has the "Successful Manager's Handbook" need not spend on this one. Both books contain similar information.

"Over the Wall" by John H. Ritter was one of the greatest books I have ever read. It is about a boy named Tyler who has many conflicts with his family and his baseball team that he plays for. He has a mom and dad that he lives with in California, but the book takes place in New York where he visits his cousin Louie. He joins a baseball team there. Tyler has a very short temper which gets him in trouble quite a lot. At the end of the book he cleans up and tries out for the league All-Stars. Will he make them? Read the book to find out.

John Ritter's second novel is an intricate web of baseball, war, and coming of age. Ritter's 14 year old hero, Tyler, almost lets anger destroy his sport. Through his development of self-control, he is able to come to terms with his family and with his country's involvement in the Viet Nam War. The story is seamlessly woven together with humor and insight into the development of adolescents. There are positive adult role models who help Tyler along the way, and even when Tyler does not realize it, the reader will. By the end we care about this young man and appreciate his reflection and growth. In this way, Tyler, too, becomes a role model for the many young readers who will be engaged by this novel. Older readers will appreciate the historical connections and younger readers will enjoy the fast paced story line. This is a great book for a read-aloud and contains enough discussion of the Viet Nam War era to make it a must for an interdisciplinary classroom.

I am eagerly anticipating Ritter's third book and welcome him to the ranks of exceptional writers for young adults.

The opening lines of Chapter One in your novel, "People say time heals all wounds. . . .Time won't heal anything," can apply to many people's lives, as well as the history of mankind. In putting these lines into the story at an early point, you allow the reader to read their own life into the book, and therefore, understand the emotions of the characters better and more clearly.

I have also noticed the way the fathers in both of your novels, CHOOSING UP SIDES and OVER THE WALL seem to keep their families on their toes in some way or another. In CHOOSING UP SIDES, the father dominated the family by enforcing strict rules with old- fashioned punishments. Luke had to be very careful around him, so he was never quite comfortable. In OVER THE WALL, Tyler felt like his dad was making him "an outsider in his own home." He and his mother had to "talk easy," and "not do anything that might upset Dad." In fact, in both stories, Luke and Tyler seemed to have to hold in their true thoughts and feelings so as not to upset their fathers. Because the cause of this discomfort was different in CHOOSING UP SIDES, the resolution in OVER THE WALL will most likely also be different.

I can't wait to finish reading OVER THE WALL!

I first read this book over twelve years ago and my admiration for it has never waned. Unlike many Shroud of Turin theorists whose conclusions rely largely on speculation and/or anecdotal evidence, Dr. Heller is one of the very few people who have scientifically tested actual samples taken from the cloth. He conducted his experiments over a period of several years in an attempt to determine the chemical nature of the "blood" and "image", and how they got on the Shroud in the first place. How the image formed he never determined, but through chemical testing he found it to be the result of acid oxidation of the linen. The "blood" he concluded to be actual blood by over ten different tests including spectral analysis, and chemical identification of bile pigments and serum albumin. The book, however, is not all dry Science. It tells the funny and interesting story of Heller's involvement in the Shroud of Turin Research Project from beginning to end. He doesn't hold the you, the reader, at arm's length--he takes you right into lab itself revealing in detail not just the experiments that he and his collegues performed, but also something of their personalities and motivations. Many scientists and skeptics today either ignore or write off Heller's work in a few curt sentences, but Heller's use of control experiments to test and retest his conclusions give his work credibility. Whether the Shroud is real or fake makes no difference to me, but ANY source skeptical of the Shroud's authenticity who cannot or will not give a convincing, detailed, point-by-point refutation of Heller's conclusions I would consider suspect. Only when such a source comes forward (and I have not yet seen one to date) will the matter be settled in my mind.

I highly recommend this book. It was key to my research in writing The Christ Clone Trilogy (Warner Books).

I have had the honour and priviledge of working in Dr. Heller's institute, working under his tutelage and with his team.
Heller, while a man of science, was nevertheless a devout man (Southern Baptist). He viewed his task concerning The Shroud with great scepticism; there have been far too many hoaxes in the world of religion.
The book describes in great detail the events leading up to the team's conviction that the Shroud was genuine; last - not least - being Heller and Adler's verification of "heme" (blood) and the inexplicable "burned image" of the crucified man.
Although carbon dating indicates that the image is not 2000 years old and that the cloth is from the Middle Ages, there is not enough evidence to diosprove Heller's assertion that the Shroud is indeed genuine.

This book has an excellent assortment of literary excerpts beginning at the pre-Colombian period. I recommend it for the advanced Spanish student because the old Spanish is hard to understand, as is some of the vocabulary. This book gives good explanations of history, culture, as well as literature from Latin America. If you are up to a challenge, I recommend this book for students interested in learning more about Latin American history.

As a student who recently used this book for a Spanish Lit. class I must say that this book is by far the best that I have encountered. Not only does it cover literature from pre-colombian days but it goes all the way up until today's comtemporary writers. Futhermore each section as well as each author has an introduction which provides the reader with extra insight. Even if you are not a student, but if you are interested in Spanish literature, I highly recommend this book.

Full of good stuff that one normally has to research in half a dozen different places and media. Ruley has a very good grip of how to build Windows NT into an enterprise, particularly when using TCP/IP. I recommend it

This is a very pragmatic book on NT Networks. It discusses real life situations and has product recommendations. It will serve useful for most of the implentation specifics of NT Server both in a small LAN and an enterprise domain

We used this book to teach an introductory Java course for experienced programmers. Without exception the students didn't like the book. They felt they really couldn't learn from it--topics are covered too quickly. They wanted a text with a more step-by-step approach and one with more examples.

If you are looking to learn real java 1.1 coding then this is the book for you. Mastering java 1.1 is one of the faw books out today that will see you have to code with java to the 1.1 spec ! !

I like the book for the way the approach is organized, and all the components, and details are patiently and thoroughly studied, no assumption is made about what you know , and the plan to this complicated program is laid out in a very understandable way
