I Love it!
Ray is a real work of art, meaning the girl sure does know how to write! Love Sarah and Blake's story. Sarah really goes after what she wants. You go girl, and much love to you Ray!

Hill is also truly blessed! Loved Jewel and Taj's story. I really get into the age issue stories. I think it is very interesting some authors play out the "age issue," in some books, but this one was nicely done. Much love Hill!

Ms Walkers's Harvest the Fruits can not be forgotten. Nice work!

A STUNNING MASTERPEICE
ONCE AGAIN MS. HILL CAPTURES HER READERS AND TAKES TO THEM TO THAT PLACE THATS JUST BEYOND THE RAINBOW. SHE BRINGS US TO A PLACE THAT ASSURES US ITS OKAY TO PUT OUR HEART ON THE LINE.

Art in Modern Culture: An Anthology of Critical Texts
Published in Paperback by Harpercollins College Div (1993)
Authors: Francis Frascina and Jonathan Harris
Amazon base price: $21.00
Used price: $15.75
Average review score:

an illuminating collection of essays
Pungent and profoundly moving, the introductory sequences to these seminal essays establish new levels of critical consciousness in that melancholy discipline known as art history. Frascina and Harris, two of our most exalted and distinguished cultural historians, provide a comprehensive survey of the culture-politics interface in C20th society. Consistently devastating and endlessly locked into the real critical issues, this is essential reading for all students of modern visual culture.

Guarding the Secrets: Palestinian Terrorism and a Father's Murder of His Too-American Daughter

In light of 9/11
In the wake of the tradegy of 9/11 this book is eye-opening. It goes into detail about how this family/group operated here right under our noses.

Terrorism's broad inroads
This book starkly frames the force of hatred which overtook New York City and the world with the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. It relates specifically to Zein Isa's November 1989 murder of his daughter, Palestina. The West Bank immigrant and his Brazilian wife co-conspired in the brutal St. Louis murder of their teenage daughter, whose friendships they believed had endangered their terrorist plans.

In their search for terrorists, the Federal Bureau of Investigation inadvertently taped the actual killing. Zein Isa and his wife were sentenced to death.

The book reveals much about the village life in the West Bank, where most families, according to Maria Zein, belong to radical military groups whose ultimate goal is to destroy Israel. Many West Bank residents are actually "refugees from other countries." According Maria Zein's account, her husband knew "men from Syria, Libya, Kuwait, Saudi." Maria Zein told the author that her husband had traveled from the West Bank village of Beitin, to Jordan, Syria, Libya and Bolivia. He lived undetected for years in the US, and also claimed to have lived in Europe.

The book reveals twisted morals, which condone murder for the sake of family honor. It unmasks intense hatred that evolved into conspiracies to slaughter Jews, blow up the Israeli embassy in Washington and to murder Tina because she posed a threat to these plans.

It also exposes the frighteningly broad inroads that the Abu Nidal terrorists have made into American cities and life. Alyssa A. Lappen

Horrifying!
This true-crime story is written in the sensationalistic fashion typical of the genre. It grabs your attention right from the beginning and doesn't let go.
The author describes the irony of Tina Isa's life: to any otherAmerican family she would have been cherished as a charming, friendly, hard-working teen...
The author also describes the network of Palestinian terrorist groups living in the U.S. and the role they might have played... This story is gripping and very informative because the author did a lot of research and provides so much background information about the Palestinian culture, the lives of generations of the Isa family, the Abu Nidal terrorist organization and more.

HOLD IT JUST A SECOND MY FELLOW AMERICAN PCOS'RS!!
This books sounds like everything you are looking for in a holistic and/or nutritional approach to our misdiagnosed and misunderstood syndrome, right? Think you can pick it up and follow the diet excatly and have those fantastic changes that you hear about in all of those testimonials you read about? Well please keep this in mind before you get so excited. This book was published in LONDON ENGLAND. Therefore, you can expect all sorts of fabulous recipe ingredients and menus that call for things like:

175g muscavoado sugar
demerara sugar
jaffa cake
Twiglets
digestive biscuits
gooseberry fool
quorn fillet (yes that is how its spelled)
1 large aubergine
etc. etc.

All of the measurements are in metric and there tends to be a bit of a difference in our foods and termonologies. For this I give 2 stars (as an Amercian stuck in English measurements and food). Also, when you look at the menus as a whole, there is quite a bit of fruit (and juices) called for which concerns me because of the insulin resistance problems of PCOSrs. There is even a recipe for risotto - can we say white carbohydrate?HOWEVER, there is information on vitamins and nutrients and why you should take them and how they benefit PCOS individuals so again, I did at least give the books 2 stars.

No one mentions this little British detail about the book and for American cooks, this is a pretty big detail. I would try the "Insulin Resistance Diet Book" over this one for full menus and use this book at a supplement only. Good luck!

Definite Must Have!
I got this book and found I could not put it down because it had so much information that dealt with PCOS. Not only did it have background information (in the appendix), but it also had diet and vitamin and other natural supplement information and tips. I have started following the basic priciples in this book and already feel better. It made me get motivated to finally take control of what I was eating! I didn't realize how I was treating my own body with the food I used to eat. The book also has references to other helpful books, websites, and clinics in the back for the UK, US, and even Australia. If you have one book to read on PCOS, I think this is it!

A must-have for women with PCOS
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is such a complex condition that women who are dealing with it need all the good resources they can get. This book covers general information as well as the all-important nutritional information that all women with PCOS need. The authors have a nice conversational and supportive style; the book is packed with information but isn't so big that it seems like a medical text.

Great Read - but lacks a great ending
It took me a few days to open this book but when I did I couldn't put it down. Once I started reading it, I finished it in 24 hours. I've read several others by E. Lynn Harris but I only read them by chance not because I'm a big fan. Now I have to read Not a Day Goes By since I didn't realiaze this was a sequel.

I enjoyed the characters and was transfixed to the book, but was disappointed with the ending. The way he left this thing with Desmond & Yancey so unfinished it seems like he has already planned another book...And he worked up this situation with Basil and Nico only to have nothing happen with them in the end. Basil and Rosa is another area that was short...I felt he should have had Rosa re-enter the picture a little while earlier and that was stupid story line to have her say she wanted to raise the baby alone - no one wants to raise a child alone. And for Ava to go down without a cat fight was out of character for her. Another thing was Raymond Tyler - there was something he was about to do but he was never mentioned again. This book started out like a big juicy green grape but ended up ended like a dried up raisin. I felt the same way about Abide With Me. I will not pay full price again for another of these books. I have truly been enlightened about gay and bi relationships, but the only thing that makes me want to keep this book is the beautiful work done on the front and back cover.

Good read but not one of his better books.
I just finished reading this book in 2 days I must say that this was a good read but definitely NOT one of his better ones. I thought it was a bit soap opera-ish and the characters didn't really make me care for them. Basil was never one of my favorite characters until now. He seems too finally seen the light. I hope it stays that way. The book appeared to be an exact replica of "Not A Day Goes By"...you can definitely categorize this as a sequel to "Not A Day Goes By". But I felt a little cheated. I was under the impression that we were going to found out more about Basil. Why is Basil the way he turned out. Don't get me wrong this book is a good book to read with lots of twists and surprises in store but I was expecting more intimate and background information on Basil Henderson. I did enjoy the way it ended. It was totally unexpecting and heartwarming. E Lynn Harris if you are reading this...please write more on Raymond Tyler. He is definitely one of my favorite characters. Read the book but don't expect another version of "Invisible Life" or "Just As I Am". Those 2 books are CLASSICS!

Anyway The Wind Blows
Bravo! Bravo! E lynn Harris certainly did again! I'd been waiting on the release of another book by this author which seemed like eternity. I must say that Harris never ceases to amaze me. The infamous Mr Basil Henderson is back! still up to his old tricks, I wonder if he'll ever change (you ask yourself?. Only this time he is paired with what seemed like the forever evil, wicked, Yancey Braxton, who, suprisingly in this novel, receives a wake up call!!!. She meets a wonderful person by the name of Windsor, who, irrespective of Yancey;'s nature, see the soul within this apparent demon. I believe in giving people the benefit of my doubt, so I kept my mind open to the probability of change in terms of Yancy ways!! I had hoped though, that her scheming and manipulative character would of continued, as it added spice! to his books. The so together, so orderely Raymond Tyler Junior rears his head once again, this time in the role as Basil's advisor/confidant and attorney. Bizarre I know! I do think that Raymond has a story to tell about his relationship with Kevin (you really need to read between the lines for this one) as the focus is on Basil. The author leaves this interpretation to our own minds and ways of thinking. Sorry! I don't want to give the whole plot away so i'll cease here! This is a "MUST READ NOVEL", and if you have no other E Lynn Harris novels, this will tell you a little about his excellent ability to take us on his wonderful, magical journey into the world of him.

Extract from ¿Books on Bosnia¿, London 1999
An important documentary source-book, with full transcripts of the 1993 hearings which led to the International Court making a provisional court order demanding that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia 'take all measures... to prevent commission of the crime of genocide' by forces it supported in Bosnia. Navajo Sacred Places
Published in Hardcover by Indiana University Press (1994)
Authors: Klara Bonsack Kelley and Harris Francis
Amazon base price: $34.95
Used price: $10.72
Average review score:

Uniquely organized, yet lacks solution-providing
In Navajo Sacred Places, Kelly and Harris seek to elucidate the sacredness of Navajo landscapes. The monograph consists of four main parts which are subdivided into thirteen chapters. The authors introduce their own research in Part One. In Part Two, they compare their work to other researches on the same issue conducted by other scholars. In Parts Three and Four, Kelley and Harris make comparisons between their work and those of others in terms of methodology and interpretations of the analyses. With such efforts, the two authors try to establish an argument for the preservation of Navajo culture that is tied to the sacred places on the Navajo Reservation. What the Navajos are concerned with most is the preservation of the sacred sites against land and economic developments, which is ironically, needed for the enrichment of the modern Navajo society. In the course of land development, some sacred places are endangered in exchange for the economic development. Developers often consult with the Navajo elders, who are knowledgeable of such sacred sites, in order to identify which sites are more important and which sites can be sacrificed." Consequently, this results in prioritizing of sacred places. In light of this, Kelley and Harris warn that the prioritization of these sacred places for the sake of economic developments becomes what they call as "piecemeal approach," and is a menace to the preservation of Navajo culture. In contrast, they declare that each sacred space must be viewed as a part of the larger sacred geography in terms of the cultural preservation against the economic development. Such approach is glossed as "landscape approach," and comprises the core of their assertion in this monograph. As far as the authors are concerned, the preservation of the sacred places is crucial to the Navajos, and is always confronted by the curse of the colonization. By offering their "landscape approach," they hope to provide a solution. However, colonization has brought several other changes to the Navajo culture, such as the decrease in the number of the medicine man who are the keepers of the traditional religious repertoires. This religious change connotes the decrease in the importance of the sacred places and knowledge associated with them. Thus, the question becomes: How can the "landscape approach" be effective in such a circumstance? Though the authors display their awareness of the problematic nature of colonization and the efforts made by the Navajos to cope with the situations, their theory is ironically trapped into the curse of colonialism. The theory of the authors is only an idealism which lacks pragmatic solution to "real-time-oriented" contemporary society which places economical prosperity on a higher priority over cultural nourishment.
