Naval Warfare WW 1
Excellent, I highly recommend this volume.
The book about naval warfare in WWI
This is the best analysis of WWI naval warfare ever written. Mr Halpern has written a fascinating text describing the main guidelines of the naval aspects of this conflict. Do not expect shot by shot descriptions of the battles, this book deals with the reasons leading to the different battles and their consequences and should be considered essential reading for anybody interested in World War I or Naval History.

It's Easier To Predict The Future When It's Become The Past
Paul Halpern's book The Pursuit Of Destiny is three excellent books in one. The first book is a look at humankind's attempts to predict the future through the ages from a physicist's point of view. The second book is a good overview of physics through the ages, including Newtonian mechanics, relativity, quantum mechanics, chaos, and complexity. The third book concerns the philosophical implications of all this and its bearing on whether humans have free will. The book is not overly technical and should appeal to a wide audience. On occasion, I felt that Halpern lost the main thread of the book - the ability of humans to predict the future, but it never distracted from my enjoyment of the book. I recommend this book to anybody with an interest in humanity's ability to predict the future or in physics.
Brilliantly conceived, well-written and mind-blowing
Paul Halpern's latest book gives the reader much to ponder. It is a fascinating history of mankind's efforts to predict the future, many times unsuccessfully but often with astonishing results. Ancient methods of prediction, Nostradamus, Kabbalistic Judaism, and the occult are discussed alongside Einstein's theory of relativity, Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, quantum mechanics, cosmology and computer algorithms. A particularly intriguing description of David Deutsch's multiverse, where time does not flow and where your memories really correspond to events experienced by a different you in a different universe, is mesmerizing.
The guy knows how to make you think. This book is full of profound ideas but is easy to digest, eminently readable and leaves you wanting more. A kaleidoscope of human endeavor is distilled to 233 pages of spellbinding tapestry, woven in rich detail for those captivated by history, science and the quest for life's meaning.

A very interesting book
"The Structure of the Universe" is a very good book with a lot of interesting information. It presents many of the intruiging questions that cosmologists ask today, over such topics as dark matter, the structure of the universe, and the expansion of the Universe. Through many graphs and charts, they show many of the processes that happen today and also explain possible outcomes of the Universe. It is a very good book for any novice who would like to know a little bit about cosmology.

This book will kill your love of science.
I must laud the author of this book; he took a seemingly interesting topic and managed to suck all the life out of it. Let me be Frank with you; although the book isn't very well written, the topic itself is interesting. If you can cut through the boring mire from this self proclaimed "Star Trek fanatic," you may be able to enjoy yourself. I wasn't and didn't.
A very interesting book.
This book is very interesting and extremely simple to understand. Although the application of this sort of science is still far off, there's no denying that it could some day affect all of us.
interstellar travel could be around the corner
I love this book more than life itself. It talks about the possibility of using wormholes for rapid interstellar travel not just for astronauts but for people like you and me:tourists ,businessmen etc and the possibility of using them for time travel as well. I've had a fascination with Black Holes since I saw the Disney movie The Black Hole and what fascinated me about them is they could take you to another part of the universe or another universe altogether. Halpern gives perfect detail of wormholes theorized by Kip Thorne,Michael Morris,Ulvi Yurtsever and Matt Visser and starships flying through them and what it would be like to enter a wormhole and a time travel expedition by an astronaut and the possibility of mining black holes around the year 2500. The final chapter is the most interesting of all as Halpern imagines life in the year 2500 when interstellar travel through wormholes is as common as air travel is today. People enter a wormhole at the edge of the solar system and arrive at a space station at the center of the galaxy called Galaxy Central where there are thousands of womholes leading to all parts of the galaxy. If you're into Star Wars,Star Trek,Buck Rogers in the 25th century or just dream of visiting other worlds and other galaxies or travelling through time. This is the book for you!
