Following My Own Footsteps
Gordy was in 6th gradewhen he moved away from Colledge Hill.He moved because his father went to jail for beating him.so,they moved away from Colledge Hill. They moved to Grandville to live with their Grandma. At Grandma's Gordy learns how to be nice.I liked it,i think you will to. Following My Own Footsteps reminds me of Tallahasee Higgens, another book M.D.Hahns.The likeness is they both move to reletives.I give it 4 stars(on a scale of 1-5)There's alot of cussing.

The Best Book I ever read
This book was very great! I loved it! Most of the book was sad, but the ending was enjoyable! Thank you for writing such a wonderful book!

A Great Book!
If you like to read about how people change from being snotty, to actually helping someone, this is the book for you. There are just so many great things about this book, that it's hard to decide where to start. Gordy has trouble fitting in at his wealthy grandmother's house, until he meets the boy next door. The boy next door has strict limitations, and is in a wheelchair. Gordy thinks that the boy's mother is babying him, and when he tries to do something, he just makes it worse. His VERY abusive father ends up coming back later in the story, so read the book if you want to know more. This is definitly a must read!!!

Dead Man in Indian Creek
This murder mystery book of only 130 pages, would seem to be a sound choice for 3rd to 5th graders, but it does have an adult nature to it. The two boys in the story are 12 years old, one is being raised in a single parent family (mother). She is involved with a man, the boys believe to be involved in the murder. She leaves him alone, repeatedly. There also is reference to teenage drug and alcohol parties at the quarry where the boys have a fort built. The murder is connected to cocaine drug dealing of which the mother is involved in. While these are themes we see every day on TV and in movies, probably best read with a parent or as a pre-adult.

This is definitly a five star book!!!
The story Dead Man On Indian Creek was a great book for people ages 10-14. I thought this was both funny and scary. And it actually shows what a son would actually do for his single, hard-working mother. This story was about two boys who love to go hiking and are best ffriend's. But Peter's mom goes out with a guy who looks and acts very supicious and when they find a guy dead on indian creek they think they know who did it.And when they go and tell Peter's mother she thinks there crazy. The setting was beautiful and perfect. It's great for a children's book. When you are reading to the description of the place you can paint a picture in your head of what they are doing. It also makes the story seem mmore realistic. I thinkthis is one of the best settings in a book I have ever read.

As Ever, Gordy
Do you like comedy and realistic stories? If so, Mrs. Hahn has the book for you. Mrs. Hahn pays exquisite attention to the smallest details. In this book, Gordy's grandmother, with whom he lives, dies, sending him to live with his brother Stewart. He lives with Stewart in the town that he used to live in, before he moved in with his grandmother. This book is the exciting and amazing story of him reengaging friendship with old friends, and establishing a life in his old town, College Hill. Read this book, to see what will happen to Gordy in this wonderful tale from Mary Downing Hahn. I would strongly recommend this book to any one who wants a good humored, and well written book to read.

An unpredictable story of suprising terror.
I am atracted to scary stories,so I bought this book as soon as I saw it.At first I was thinking that this might not be as scary as it was said to be,but as I got further into it,I found that it was full of suprises. The main charecter Laura,is so well described that I feel as though I've known her my whole life. This is a fabulous book, and I recomend it to anyone who loves bone chilling tales.

Wait Till Helen Comes
"Wait Till Helen Comes" is an amazing book which has descriptive words. It is about a family that moves to a forest where there is no one to play with. Molly and Michael and, step sister Heather, are the only kids. Molly, and Michael don't like Heather. Heather hates them , so Heather finds a graveyard and becomes friends with a ghost who tries to lure kids into a pond and kill them. At the end Molly and Heather become friends and save each other.

A Ghost Story
"Wait Till Helen Comes" is a really good book. It's about two girls and a boy that all hate each other. They moved to a church with a graveyard in the back. Heather finds a tombstone under the tree, and becomes friends with the ghosts of the tombstone. Heather asked Helen the ghost to wreck Molly and Michael's rooms. I would recommend this book to everyone.

A Ghost Story
"Wait Till Helen Comes" is an awesome book. Molly and Michael have a happy life untill their stepdad Dave marries their mom Jean and he brings his daughter Heather the brat. One day in their new house Heather finds a graveyard and a new best friend, they both have something very personal in common. Molly also finds an old house deep in the woods. I would recommend this book to anyone, even people who dont like mysteries, because I didn't like mysteries either but Mary Downing Hahn lured me into reading more of the book and liking mysteries. All I can say is thankyou to Mary Downing Hahn for getting me into reading.

The Best Online Book Review EVER
The Doll in the Garden is a ghost story by Mary Downing Hahn. The climax changes in an suspenseful way when the main character, Ashley, finds a doll that her old, crabby landlord buried in the front garden when she was very young. The doll belonged to the landlord's neighbor and best friend. Ashley's neighbor, Kristi, tells the landlord about Ashley finding the doll, because Kristi was jealous that Ashley kept the doll. The landlord was very angry. Ashley is transported to a parallel world in which she meets the landlord's old best friend when she was young, and very sick. There is a reason she wants her doll back, and Ashley is determined to make the landlord and the little girl in the parallel world meet up again. Ashley takes the landlord and Kristi to the parallel world, and there is a danger of them never being able to go back home. Will they make it home? To find out, read The Doll in the Garden by Mary Downing Hahn.

The Doll in The Garden
Ten-year-old Ashley, the main character, followed a beautiful white cat, which reminded her of her own cat, into Mrs. Coopers enchanted garden. Ashley had been warned many times to stay out of that garden, but still she was curious. Ashley had many plan to make the pond look better with the help of her friend Kristi. While Ashley is pulling her weeds and clearing the empty pond she comes across a box. What was in it? A doll buried in the dirt. Ashley also comes upon many different mysteries. Who is the little girl with the long golden curls that awaits her companion, Carrie, to come? Whose voice cries out at night? And why doesn't the white cat have a shadow beneath the moonlight?
I enjoyed reading this book because I simply enjoy ghost stories, and this book is a great example of a ghost story. This book has many misteries and thrills every time. "Kristi crept closer, and when I finally got it open she screamed at the sight of its contents. It's a dead girl! She cried." It is these kinds of events that keep you at the end of your seat! I loved how the author put all the right thrills in the right places.
I relished reading this book because it was interesting reading about the many ways Ashley used to solve the mystery and how she was determined to find out! I loved how the author, Mary Downing Hahn, wrote in descriptive detail and added interesting dialogue to the story. I enjoyed reading about the many characters like Mrs. Cooper, the wicked landlord, Kristi, Ashley's friend, and all the other character in the story.
My favorite part in the book would have to be when Ashley had the courage to talk back to Mrs. Cooper. Ashley finally showed Mrs. Cooper that she could also be fierce. "How could you be so mean? I asked Louisa was an Orphan, and she was sick." Mrs. Cooper finally expressed herself and told Ashley why she had to do the mean things. From then on Mrs. Cooper seemed different! She had agreed to go with Ashley to see Louisa and give Anna Maria to Louisa. This is why I liked reading this book.

The doll in the garden
The book "The doll in the garden" is an exciting and suspenseful story. The ghost story, written by Mary Downing Hahn, will certainly keep reader gripped and interested.

When Ashley, a ten-year-old girl moves to Monkton Mills with her mother after her father dies, a not so nice surprise awaits her. The cruel Mrs.Cooper, their landlord, hates children and doesn't welcome them in a particularly friendly way. The first thing that captures Ashley's eye is an overgrown rose garden. Her mother goes into their new house and Ashley hurries into the garden but then she hears a whisper from next door. Her new neighbor Kristy, an eight-year-old girl, tells her that the garden is haunted, and that people can hear things advancing from the garden at night. Ashley doesn't believe her until that night when she wakes up because of a soft weeping, she looks out of the window and sees a white cat but something is wrong. Why doesn't the cat have a shadow, and why does she hear the girl crying?

The other seven books written by Mary Downing Hahn are certainly as good as this one. The doll in the garden is great for children and adults alike.

A Mystery That Keeps You At The Edge Of Your Seat
Following the Mystery Man is a fantastic mystery thats keeps the reader involved. It tells the story about a girl named Madigan who grows up in life wothout a mother or a father. A handsome young man named Clint comes to town, and gives all the evidence of being Madigan's father. Madigan gets ideas about Clint and follows him around. She figures something out that she wishes she hadn't; for this clue changed both Madigan's and Clint's life forver. Can Madigan solve this mystery without ending up in the middle of it? This story tells a story about a girl who depritly needs a father, a mother, or even a a friend. Does she need one so badly that she jums to conclusions, gets her self tied up in the action, and even hurt. From this story, I found how much my father means to me. I understand now, after reading the book, how much my dad means to me. I will now cherish every moment that I spend with my dad; I now don't know if he will one day pack his bags and leave like Madigan's father did.

A Very interesting story
Madigan meets a charming stranger and becomes convinced he is her father who walked out on her and her now-dead mother many years ago. Now, living with her grandmother in a sleepy Maryland town, Madigan is determined to solve the mystery. Very exciting and suspenseful, and the issue of trust is explored here, too...

Awesome
Awesome book. It's about a young girl, Madigan, who lost her mother when she was a baby and her father ran away. One day a stranger comes to town and he needs a place to stay. She thinks that he might be her dad by the way he acts around her and the way he looks like her. He's really a robber. Madigan finds out. She's very upset. He catches her spying on him when he is hiding stolen goods, and he grabs her. The best part of the book is her escape. A very exciting story that keeps you guessing at every page. I think this author writes amazing books. I really enjoy her mysteries.

A Dangerous Attraction!
I definatly suggest this book to those of us who love a little romance, plot twists, horror, and a little out of the ordinary. When I started reading Look For Me By Moonlight, I had no idea what the plot was about and I guess it was better that way. At first, it sound like another "Girl moves to new house, girl feels unwanted, girl meets boy, girl and boy fall in love," kind of story but it wasn't at all. I agree that it is far fetched but I like books like that.

The story starts out well but ends up in a big mess. The ending is TOO EASY and I didn't see how Vincent could have been defeated by his own fears in such a quick and easy manor. I was waiting for him to return for revenge but there was none. I thought Mary Downing Hahn could have ended this terrorizing romance in a better way but she let me down this time.

I absolutly love the variety of realistic characters (dispite the Vampire of couse). I could relate to Cynda, a 16 year old girl whose parents are divorce and is unsure of herself, her image, love issues, and in this case, older men. I could also connect the character Todd to any tipical five year old who wants a lot of attention, playing games, playing in the snow, frequent changes of favor, and having bad dreams.

All and all, I thought this story was enjoying to read not only for me but also for supernatural lovers. Completely arresting!

Seductive Winter Madness
When I was in the eighth grade I accidentally picked up this book out of boredom during a study hall. When I returned to study hall I began reading it and I have never been the same since. It is my favorite book of all time. I've read it at least eight times and hope to read it more. Cynda reminded me so much of myself- unsure, emotional, a child of divorced parents. As the book progressed I felt myself falling in love with Vincent alongside of her. Now on every snowy night I turn off the lights and stare out into the darkness, imagining that he is there, and a shiver goes down my spine. I recommend this book to everyone- it has many important lessons to teach about trust and the naivety of young teenage girls.

This is a wonderful book--one of Mary Downing Hahn's best.
LOOK FOR ME BY MOONLIGHT is a book I read in about a day because it was intense and kept you going until the end. I knew Cynda had to stop Vincent from what he was doing but I didn't know how.I recommend this to girls from 6th to high school but even boys in my school read it. Shawnell, Grade 7

Wonderful Memory
I first read this when I was ten years old, and I searched for years for something like it. I related to it, and thrived on this book as a child. After many years, I still think of this book with warm memories and recommend it for any child growing up, dealing with confusing feelings. It helped me and made me feel not so alone.

Childhood memories
I first read this book when I was 10, and it's been a favorite of mine for 5 years now. Even today, it powerfully conveys the difficulty of growing up. Kathleen has insecurities about her looks, longings for love, and conflict in her family. As I read, I feel as if I'm right there with her as she rebels and grows. The story is so realistic, with great dialogue. I'd reccomend it to any girl who's having a rough time being teenager. "The Jellyfish Season" is also a roadmap for preteens who don't know what to expect and a trip down memory lane for women who've already been there.

A Great Read!
I first read this book when I was in Middle School and now that I'm almost 21, it still ranks right at the top of my list of all-time favorites! A great book for a mother and daughter to read together.

December + Stillness = Greatness!
December Stillness is a great, easy-to-read, story of a girl who wants to get to know a veteran for a school paper. The book is great!!! You can get inside of Kelly's head and feel what she feels. When with her frieds I could totally understand what was going on in her mind.

Bottom Line: Great book, must read!

The most touching book i've ever read
December Stillness is one of the best books i've ever read. It is sad and could easily happen to anyone. This is Mary Dowing Hahn's best book. I'm not a major fan of realistic fiction but this book i could not put down. Mr.Weems who is a vietnam vet. had no friends and wanted no friends but was stumbled onto a girl named Kelly. She Eventually wanted to be her friend but he refused her. This book is an award winner and should be read by all who enjoys a great, unpredictable and sad novel. It touched my heart on how Kelly tried to help Mr. Weems and he refused her. All she wanted was a friend. I think this is a great teen novel. It has a great story to it and also a great lesson.

THE BEST BOOK!!!!!!!!
The book, December Stillness is one of the best out of my two favorite books that I have ever read. I mmust tell you that reading is definetly not my favorite thing to do at all, but when I read a book and like it, That means that it is really really good! I think this book is best for teens, and young adult readers but should be read by all. It is a sad, touching book that can capture many peoples hearts and should not be ignored! You should read it.
