Amazing
I really like this book because over the internet I was looking for info on Phil Knight and his partner. I came to Amazon.com and found the perfect book that I never knew existed.(WOW) If you like Nike you will enjoy learning the origin of creators and how the shoe industry was rocked by these two shoe pioneers.

Genius
When this play opened at the end of the eighties, Frank Rich of the NY Times was one of the only critics to see its beauty. But thank gosh he noticed! The play is gorgeous. The characters are funny, real, INTERESTING. The ending is a bit too pat, but it does not stop the play from climbing to the top of my list of favorite plays.

Great Collection
One sword. The true sword, EXCALIBUR. Forged from magic and courage, it bears the power of heroes and kings. Its nature is unique, but its forms are legion. It can appear... has appeared... will appear, anywhere, at any time, in a thousand hands in a thousand guises. For Excalibur is the force that protects the souls of Good's guardians, and changes the course of destinies...

Tales of the history and manifestations of Excalibur throughout time, gathered by three of the most experienced anthologists in the field and featuring: Esther M. Friesner, Owl Goingback, Jody Lynn Nye, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Judith Tarr, Susan Shwartz, and many more.

Featuring

"CONTROLLING THE SWORD" by Kristine Kathryn Rusch: The ancestral sword drew generations of children to their destiny but forever cursed all who were unworthy of its touch.

"LASSORIO" by Eric Lustbader: The sullen warlord Lassorio ruled a dark, diminished Camelot until the night a snow fox led him to a place of magic, horror. . . and love.

"THE GOD-SWORD" by Diana L. Paxson: Centuries before the time of Arthur, a Swordbearer and his Druid lover must join the battle for the soul of ancient Britannia.

"SILVER, STONE, AND STEEL" by Judith Tarr: Joseph of Arimathea carried a Mystery to the world's end and discovered his place in an eternal dream of wizards, gods, goddesses, and blood.

"SWORD PRACTICE by Jody Lynn Nye: The young boy-king must discover: Does Arthur rule the sword or does Excalibur rule the king?

"GOLDIE LOX, AND THE THREE EXCALIBEARERS" by Esther M. Friesner: What're you starin' at? Even Merlin's verklempt when the destined Swordbearer for the age turns out to be Brooklyn's Lady of the Lox teen deli waitress Goldie Berman! Who knew?

Love in the Time of Sarcasm
A tidy, witty piece about well-to-do young adults in the Hamptons, pondering their importance a la Woody Allen. Of course, they manage to sleep with the wrong people, bemoan their short comings and make many pithy comments along the way.

I highly recommend this play to college students looking for good parts for women. Amy Beth and Amy Joy are characters any actress can sink her teeth into -- sarcastic, sexy and completely surprising. The piece moves along quickly but with unexpected twists and an utter lack of cutesy resolution or characterization. Richard Greenberg has gone on to win many awards for his writing and this piece contains much of his finesse with language, behavior and real sympathy for his characters, no matter how big their problems aren't.

fascinating, stimulating, a pleasure to read
why would someone give up lobster and cheeseburgers? friday night movies and saturday afternoon football games? this fascinating and stimulating book presents succinct interviews with 31 people who gave up these things, and more, to return to their religious roots. the interviewees include women and men of various ages and from different regions. a couple of short chapters provide context and an overview. the whole book is a pleasure to read

An Excellent Tale for any Players of Vampire: the Masquerade
This is an enjoyable and wimsical tale set in White Wolf's World of Darkness halfway through the second millenium. Unfortunately this book is no longer in print, but White Wolf, in an effort to remedy this, has reprinted it along with the second book in the series, Blood and Fire. I just finished my first read through the book, and soon I will be telling this tale of the Giovanni's beginnings, via the fall of their founders, the ancient Cappadocians. I hope others who read this will feel the sense of awe and fear that the World of Darkness conjures in me.

The Giovanni Genesis & Beyond
The Giovanni Saga 1 makes up the first of two collections of books detailing not only the creation of the Giovanni clan but the time and events leading up to it. This edition contains the now out of print first two books of the Giovanni Chronicles (The Last Supper and Blood and Fire). The first book details the main players in the Conspiracy of Isaac, the founders, and other minor players. The second explains the beginnings of Clan Giovanni and the troubles it faced in the beginning. The entire book is set up as instructions for the storyteller, with ideas for live-action roleplay and character stats. The book, aside from a very nonlinear and detailed chronicle, can also be enjoyed by simply reading as any other book. The book includes detailed storyteller information for every possible variation in the story. I recommend this book for anybody who plays vampire, is interested in the Giovanni, wants to host the greatest chronicle ever, or just wants to read a really neat book.

Thank you White Wolf, it's about time.

Rich kids have Angst too
This is a very well written play. The problems were not dramatic enough though. I mean, breaking up a famous Father's estate, finding out Mr. Soap Star/family friend slept with your sister, having to choose between two talented architects, are not big problems that a drama like this demands.

Yet the family history is mesmerizing.

A great new writer
Wouldn't you have liked to go to the theatre to see the crucible without knowing that it was a classic. Watching three days of rain was the first time I went to the theatre unaware of anything about the play and then realising that I was watching one of the greatest plays ever written unfurl around me. The play is at times witty or sad or profound, but it is always real and Greenberg shows the links between the past and the future and the impossibility of knowing or understanding the forces that drove your parents. We get a picture of the parents and it is shaken apart in the second half. Three days of rain is a truely great piece of theatre.

Wonderful, Stunning, Beautiful
Greenberg's characters are as honest as a writer can possibly make them. You always know what they mean to say when they get cut off or change their minds, what they have left unsaid, where exactly their thoughts are coming from. He does a masterful job as a playwright and gives honor to the genre, not to mention that he makes the actor's job unbearably easy. Three Days Of Rain is a profoundly touching play that makes you reexamine any assumptions, and recognize the immense power of any single moment.

Most of these stories are at a very low standard
There are two stories worth reading in this anthology of supernatural Civil War-themed work: those by Collins and Somtow. (The latter is a depressing tale of race hatred, but at least it's well written.) One or two others are vaguely OK. The majority of them are awful. They are not written well; they are not researched well; they suck. The worst is probably Moorcock's surrealist nonsense, but Ballard's boring George Todd story, Wagner's silly cannibalism/undead tale and McCaffrey's sentimental plantation claptrap -- not to mention a plethora of Sherman's Bummers meet Zombies splatter -- just leave me bored. I'd recommend avoiding this.

Zombies in the Civil War? Incredible combination !!
Being a Civil War buff and zombie lover, I couldn't ask for any better combination. It was one of those books that was literally hard to tear myself away from. It's been awhile since I read it, but from what I recall there wasn't a bad story in the book. Holds your interest from beginning to end. One of those few books that I can honestly say I have every intention of going back and reading again.

Blue and Gray Stuff Dreams are Made of
This collection of horror stories inspired by the War Between the States has found the triple point between surrealism, history, and macabre insanity. Many of the authors, all of whom are well-known in this as well as other genres, have found new ground to tread in this well-edited compilation of "Civil" War-inspired horror fiction. From the tragic unwelcome homecoming of a maimed soldier in "The Sunday Go-To-Meeting Jaw" to the grim folly of "Terrible Swift Saw", there is enough plausible reality to anchor the supernatural twists of "Foragers" and "Darker Angels". "The Master's Time" is a very fresh piece by two newer writers with a stunning ending. One could find her or himself whistling "Dixie" to ease the tension if reading this in solitude. Once these unsettling 25 short stories find their way into your mind, your dreams will no longer be the same...

The episodes were accurate
This collection of Twilight Zone literature includes Bradbury's "I Sing the Body Electric," a classic, and several other classics that are unforgettable.

I think that these collections have some of the best ironies out of all of the Twilight Zone episodes. Aside from "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street," this book has the necessary works for the Twilight Zone lovers.

Recommended to any sci-fi fanatics--

Great Book
I loved this book. All of the stories were fantastic, I recommend it.
