Good overview of this parrot
This book provides a good overview of these parrots. There are not that many books about the Senegal and this one should provide the basic information necessary about these birds...PS- the book is a lot cheaper on Amazon then at a pet store, if you can even find it...It is worth it, especially, if this is your first parrot..

A MUST READ for anybody thinking about buying a Senegal!
I bought this book AFTER I bought my baby Senegal Parrot. Boy how I wish I had bought it before I bought the bird. Enjoyable tales
"Just Desserts" by Jennifer Drew. Chef Sara Madison sees a great opportunity to demonstrate her talent at the annual Taste of Phoenix food show. However, instead of the success she expected, reporter Jeff Wilcox manages to get her fired. She gains new employment only to have undercover Jeff arriving asking for her help on an investigation. She wants to say no after her first debacle with the handsome journalist, but ends up helping him even while they fall in love. As expected from the writing team Jennifer Drew, this tale is a tasty dessert.

"Green Eggs and Sam" by Susan Peterson. Due to a so-called friend Haley Jo Simpson accompanies Dr. Rocca to the New York State Dental Hygienist Convention. However, Haley Jo soon finds her companion is dead. Reflection Lake Police Chief Sam Matthews investigates the murder though he personally would prefer to examine the key witness, Haley Jo. As he tries to keep her safe, they fall in love, but can city girl find happiness in the Adirondacks amidst green eggs and his precocious ten-year-old? Though Prudie "call me Tiffany" seems to mature for a ten year old, this is an engaging police procedural romance starring two wonderful seemingly opposites.

A tasty treat -- very highly recommended
July Duets cook up a sumptuous feast with the combination of JUST DESSERTS by Jennifer Drew and GREEN EGGS & SAM by Susan Peterson. This sinfully tasteful combination will certainly fill the comedic romance lover's appetite. Very highly recommended.

JUST DESSERTS by Jennifer Drew: The annual Taste of Phoenix food show provides chef Sara Madison the opportunity to enhance her reputation and show off her skills. Unfortunately, reporter Jeff Wilcox lands her in the hot water, leaving her unemployed and banished from any kitchen that does not laden on hot grease. Fortunately, culinary karma works both ways, and a nice reference lands her a new opportunity to prove her talent. Then Jeff shows up working undercover and asking for her assistance. Sara fears that her sweet success will quickly become bitterer than unsweetened chocolate with Jeff and passion stirred in the mix.

I am quite a fan of the mother/daughter duo that comprises Jennifer Drew and feel compelled to admit that I like this one best so far! Their wild antics and marvelous gift for comedy combine in a seamless narrative that keeps the giggles coming. Out of control golf carts, soggy cream puffs and alien chasing convention goers provide the perfect backdrop for Sara and Jeff. Sara's fire and feistiness keep passion stirring, and Jeff's determination keeps their relationship at nice simmer. Witty, outrageous, and delicious, JUST DESSERTS serves a flavorful romance decadently rich as Godiva chocolate.

GREEN EGGS & SAM by Susan Peterson: Outrageously dressed Haley Jo Simpson does not fit Sheriff Sam Matthews' ideal for a prospective date. In fact, Sam is more comfortable with hiking boots on women than Capri pants and heels. He does his best to overlook black lace and a short robe, however, when he arrives on the scene to investigate a murder. When he takes Haley Jo into protective custody and gives her a jail cell of her own to sleep in, he leaves the door unlocked on the cell and on his heart. But Haley Jo is going to need more than just green eggs to lure Sam's heart out of protective custody.

I am new to author Susan Peterson's work, but GREEN EGGS & SAM has made me a fan. Rather than falling into the stereotypical plot device of putting Haley Jo up in Sam's five-bedroom home, Peterson lands her heroine in jail instead. Of course, finding the overweight murder victim covered in chocolate wrappers and dressed only in a thong does a great job of kicking off this cunningly amusing read as well! Haley Jo may dress like an airhead, but her outrageous style and marvelous spirit conceal a woman of intelligence that the entire town comes to love. The juxtaposition of such a free spirit with a very staid sheriff who happens to have a free spirited daughter makes GREEN EGGS AND SAM a tasty treat.

Great book for Young Adults
This book was a favorite of mine growing up. It's the story of a young girl who takes a picture of herself and draws wings on it. She wakes up the next day to find that she has these very wings, only nobody can see them. The story is cute and has wonderful action and situations. A great read!

I finally found it... after EIGHT YEARS!
Every now and then, something seemingly insignificant in my life will take complete control. I've been in one of those times recently.
For the past eight years or so, I've been trying to remember the name of a single book I read. I recall enjoying it very thoroughly, but for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called.
Tonight, about five minutes ago, I found this book.
Sure, this might not seem like such a big deal to you. But for me, it has been an obsession. Every week for however long I've been looking for it, I have spent at least half an hour searching relentlessly for it. I'd tried everything - every combination of keywords, titles, authors, etc. - that I could think of. Just as I was about to give up, I remembered something from the book that helped immensely.
You see, the book was about a young girl who dreamed of being a figure skater. One night, in a deep funk, she drew wings a photo of herself. The next morning, when she wakes up, she finds that she actually does have wings.
This one detail was enough for me to find the book.
After about eight years of maddening searching, I've finally found what I thought was a lost memory:
SELF-PORTRAIT WITH WINGS by Susan Green.
You have no idea how good it felt to finally find this. And it only took my five minutes on Google, and two minutes to buy here.

Not Bad!!!
I think this book as ok it was all about this boy being in the middle and he hates it so he trys to fit in a play can you belive this. But it was not that bad.(funny too)

JUDY BLUME DOES IT AGAIN
This is a GREAT book for the family. Our children loved this book. It is easy for them to read and undestand. It is full of laughter and fun.
I read Judy Blume as a child and am SOOO HAPPY that my children also get to experience her work.

Touching title...Loving story
There are books to thrill you, and there are the books that warm you throughout your life. This is one of them.
Judy Blume has a broad stroke, writing for ages from elementary to Adult life. And with each book, she captures all the humiliation and comedy that those years offer. Though I was "too big" for this book when I read it, I don't regret doing so. Though I am not a middle child, I understand how it feels when, as a child, you feel that you don't matter, at that stage "not-old-enough-and-so-not-important-enough". Having read a wide scale of Blume throughout childhood, I know which books touched me, made me angry, and made me shout: "Hoooray!"
Judy Blume puts as much feeling into her books' titles as she does into her stories, and so even the most disaffected can only become interested because of her colorful titles. This is one of my favorite Judy Blume stories, and my favorite title by her. There are stories to challenge, books to think, fables that make you laugh out loud and novels to make you weep.
And there is "The One in the Middle is the Green Kangeroo". Even if you have not heard of Judy Blume or haven't read one of her titles, I won't hold it against you. It is a short life and we can't read them all, but doesn't the title sound curious enough for you to give this book a try?

Needs better research
I am mentioned in this book as Dave's friend "Mike". I just wish the author had interviewed me, then she would have gotten the story right about Dave's leaving the Marines. When Dave decided the Marines weren't for him, he came back to Albuquerque and called me first. The story in the book and the story of what really happened are different. Similar but different. It makes me wonder about the authenticity of the rest of the book

a great description of the people who started Earth First!
Earth First! is a "radical environmental" group like no other. Earth First!ers emphasize action, not copmlacency, and this book describes the people who started it all and what they go through while fighting for what every animal should be entitled to - a healthy home.

Historic review of U.S. "no compromise" environmentalism
If you want to know just how far the conservation movement has come in the US in the last 30 years, read this book. Susan Zakin tells it like it is, not bowing to the PC concerns of her enemies. Detailing the horrid compromising ways of large environmental organizations and government that pushed cutting-edge activists to lead by example in "no compromise in defense of mother earth." Some new age Earth First!ers hate this book. That's a good reason to read it. Great high-powered & entertaining writing style. Well researched. This book will teach, get you pissed off, and push you to become more radical. One of the top conservation books of the last decade.

The Okapi: Mysterious Animal of Congo-Zaire
The okapi was discovered in 1901 and is sometimes called the forest giraffe. Little was known about it until recently; it lives in the rainforest of the Democratic Republic of Congo (previously known as Zaire). The okapi is very unique and only about 200 are found in captivity; wild populations are threatened. This is the first book in English about this endangered species. The book brings together all that is known about the okapi in a very readable format and is illustrated with lovely drawings by one of the authors. The book is introduced by renowned scientist Dr. Jane Goodall; ALL royalties are used in the country of Congo-Zaire to preserve the rainforest, the okapi and all the other plants and animals which call this place home.

A few good projects
My summer school program includes a lot of art projects, and this book is one of my resources for ideas. This is one of those books that although it has instructions for a number of art projects, there are just a few that I use, though repeatedly. The lessons are designed for young primary students, but many projects are open-ended, allowing for a range of skill levels. There are drawing lessons for drawing a house, bike, train, castle, landscape, etc. The lessons I have used most include one for water resist, creative construction paper insects and totem pole, a symmetrical radial design, and a repeated tile-type design. Pretty good resource for an art teacher's library.

Cooper's Environmentalism Disappoints
I am a die-hard fan of Susan Cooper. I have read all of her books multiple times and never get tired of her incredible talent of weaving flawlessly together the elements of myth, fantasy, magic, and the timeless fight between good and evil. I was very excited to read "Green Boy"...and was very disappointed. Terribly disappointed! The story is basically a heavy-handed environmentalist tract, flimsily placed in a fantasy plot. I can't imagine what she was thinking. It is difficult to connect to any of the characters, and Cooper's usually flowing and descriptive prose is jarring and disconnected. The plot is contrived and clichéd, and I finished the book with a relieved sigh because I got through it, not because I had a desire to read it again. Though I will never pick up this book again, it hasn't tarnished my opinion of her other works, which are definitely worth reading over and over again.

Fantasy blends with more than a touch of realistic settings
Trey and his silent younger brother love to visit their special Bahamas cay, but when they discover that their visits are bringing them to a frightening future world, linked to their own, their become involved in fighting off an environmental threat to their own beloved home. Fantasy blends with more than a touch of realistic settings in this fast paced fantasy.
