My son is two years old and he loves this book. I had to read it to him four times the first night we had the book. The illustrations are fun and it is very easy to read. One reason my son loves this book is that he can relate to all the ways bernard's family tries to get him into the tub with bath toys, and bubbles. Plus the fact that bernard and his family are elephants doesn't hurt.

Recently my first grade class listened as I read "Bernard's Nap" and it seemed they thoroughly identified with the nap-delaying tactics employed by Bernard. Their eyes sparkled as he was not only able to put off napping for a bit longer, but was able to tuck in all the adults in the process. The pictures were soft and comfortable and filled with interesting and unusual details because Bernard's family are elephants, and as my childrens said, they live in an 'elephant world'!

Sixteen-year-old Marguerite de La Rocque lives in a strict Huguenot household in France in 1542. She is in love with a young man named Pierre, but they can never marry because he is catholic. When Marguerite's father tells her that she will be part of her uncle's colony in the desolate new world of Canada, she at least feels hope, because in the wilderness, she and Pierre might find a way to be together. Pierre has found a way to join the expedition, and Marguerite is accompanied by her maid, Damienne, who is more friend than servant. So though she fears the wild new land their ship is sailing for, she knows she won't be alone. All goes well until after they arrive in Canada, when Marguerite's uncle discovers she and Pierre have become lovers. Furious, he has Marguerite and Damienne abandoned on a desolate island known as the Isle of Demons. Pierre manages to join them, but will friendship, faith, love, and determination to survive be enough to keep the three alive in this desolate wilderness? I highly recommend this book to young adults who enjoy historical fiction. It's a wonderful story of friendship, love, and courage.

Anna lives in Rome with her father and she notices that she doesn't have a mother. She tries to ask her father, but no answer. Her father Stephan is poor and lives out in the streets with Anna. She has a friend, which she tells secrets to. Until the end of the book, she knows what happened to her mom, and they live happily ever after! It is a COOL BOOK!

The Winter Hare is a story about a boy growing up in the Middle Ages. It's a great book for those who love knights, swords, armor, and battles. The book is about a boy growing up and is accepted for an opportunity for knighthood but he must pass tests in order to prove his worthiness. This book is filled with every aspect that a great book should have. This book is great for kids. It has an intriguing plot and includes words that both kids and adults are familiar with. I suggest it for kids who are 9-14 years old.

This is a great novel. The best Historical fiction ever. I think that if you like mid-eveil stories or history. I love them! It is adventerous and cool. This book is the Best

This is a good historical novel. I learned a lot about Medieval times from it. I would recommend this story to anyone, not just people who like Medieval stories. It is good, exciting, suspenseful, sad, and funny. I liked the time Will received two puppies, one who he called Uther Pendragon, and was promptly piddled upon. As well, the Wallingford family provides a warm and comic air to the more serious part of the story. It is a good read.

Hope's Crossing by Joan Elizabeth Goodman is about a girl named Hope Wakeman. It takes place in the year 1778 and 1779. Hope lives with her family in Fairfield, Connecticut. They support the Revolution, and Mr. Wakeman is off fighting the war with General Washington. But one night, a group of four Tories comes and raids the Wakeman's house. They take all the valuables - including Hope - and set the house on fire. Hope is left with that picture, of her mother and three younger siblings and two serving girls standing outside their burning home. The Tories take her to Long Island and she is forced to work for Noah Thomas and his cruel wife, Elspeth. While there, Hope meets Noah's mother, Mother Thomas, who wants to leave just as much as Hope does. Together they escape in the middle of the night and journey to New York City in hopes of getting Hope back to Connecticut and her family. However, while in New York, tragedy strikes, leaving Hope to wonder if she can continue the journey to her family, or if she should just give up hope.

"Hope's Crossing" was a neatly told historical fiction with the twist and turns neatly put - in other words, it's predictable. Not too many Revolutionary War books deal with child kidnapping, so this may open your eyes to that bit of knowledge. I don't really think that they would kidnap a child under those circumstances, say they wanted ransom, but leave know hint of where to give the ransom. The ending came a little too quick and easy; there should have been some more obstacles for Hope. The epilogue was very short, and only gave historical facts, not what happened to the people in the book. From the author's note, I presume that she borrowed the name Wakeman, since Joan Elizabeth Goodman mentioned how she grew up with Wakeman's. A decent historical fiction, as long as you don't analyze it too much. I recommend.

Joan Elizabeth Goodman really details her writing to make you feel like you are Hope, and makes you think what you would do if you were in the situation that she is in. It is about a girl named Hope who gets kidnapped from tories after they raided her home in Fairfield, Connecticut. She is taken to Long Island, New York where she works for one of the torie's wife Elspeth. Then one night she plans to run away with another character in the book. This book will make you never want to stop reading it. Find out what she does on her escape by reading this book. I really suggest you do. Enjoy!!!

This book is about a young lady's adventure across Europe from England. It takes place in the year 1144. Lady Edith, the main character in the book, is tired of living in England. She just lost her husband and baby and is ready for something new and eventful in her life. Along with her faithful nurse, Dame Joan, her friend Rhiannon, and her brother Simon, she sets forth on an unforgettable journey to the Holy Land (Israel). Not only is Lady Edith running away from a terrible life in England, but she is also running away from a man named Sir Runcival who would do anything to wed her. Overall, I enjoyed this book immensely. It's full of adventure and surprises as Lady Edith runs into unexpected troubles and characters. I gave this book four stars because it was a good book, but some of the words could be too troublesome for some to understand. But once you get into the book, it flows more easily and you begin to enjoy it. I would recommend this book to all of my family and friends and would encourage you to read it.
