I have been a panner myself, so can appreciate this book as one of the classic early references of collected wisdom. In this book, Roy Lagal proves Gold Panning Is Easy! He doesn't introduce a new method; he just removes confusion surrounding old established methods. A refreshing new look guaranteed to produce results with the the new "Gravity Trap" or any other plan. And, he includes a valuable section on electronic prospecting. A "must" read for everyone, beginner or professional! The nice extra bonus touch are the black & white photos throughout.

There's not much left to say about the waste of talent that Strawberry and Doc Gooden represented after the Mets' 86 season. Still, for many, there's much to learn. This book can help.

If any terrorist or evildoer of anykind wants to threaten the U.S., he sure as hell better be good and gone before Mack Bolan shows up, because if Bolan rings a terrorist's doorbell, and that terrorist answers, Bolan is gonna blast his pathetic, sorry hunk of flesh and bones and diseased, delusional mind into an early grave. My advice for these guys, shoot yourselves while you have a chance, 'cuz Bolan won't leave enough of your pathetic hides to fill half of a thimble!

Big Girls Don't Cry is entertaining and yet very familiar. Those of us who grew up in the 60's and 70's can relate to Naomi Jefferson's different predicaments and how she handles life's ups and downs. Naomi appears so grown up at times and yet she is a little intimidated by life.

At the very beginning of the story, Naomi lets you know she has a mind of her own and challenges any decisions that are made on her behalf. But as she goes through adolescense and into womanhood, she loses some of that self-confidence when it comes to her relationships with men. She isn't very rational at times and falls into the trap of letting herself become a door mat for these men that she so-calls, loves.

I love the way, Ms. Briscoe leads you into Naomi's life so much that you find yourself wondering what is going to happen to her next or you think that's it, she hits you with another twist to the story and you cannot put the book down.

We have all been there at some time in our life. It's facinating to read how someone else handles the dilemmas of life.

Although it took a chapter or two to get into this book, once you were there you couldn't stop. This is an amazing book which talks about the struggles of the older days. It explains how Naomi has to deal with love, school, work, and family and how much harder it is for her since she is a Black woman. The book goes on to show that with enough determination you can go on to do anything that you want. The book also does a great job of showing us younger kids just how bad it was in the older days for the blacks. The book was very fast paced so it was easy to read in just two days. The author did a great job of making me laugh and cry. I was able to put myself in Naomi shoes in some cases and understand exactly how she felt. This is a very well written book that can be enjoyed by both young and old!

Big Girls Don't Cry is such an excellent book. I was totally enthralled by the story, the characters, the sub-plots, etc. Ms. Naomi had her moments, both good and bad, but for the most part she was a very realistic and likeable character. Dean was my boy. I was so happy when the those two cut all of the crap and gave into their feelings for each other. Y'all I was in tears by the last page, tears of joy because I was so delighted that everybody got it together and "lived happily ever after." (Call it corny, but I'm a sucker for awell-crafted, happy ending.)

I really appreciate Connie Briscoe's writing style. She doesn't pour the profanity on too thick, she develops her characters very well, and her love scenes are tasteful and passionate. All I want to know is when girlfriend's next book is coming out...I am in need to read another contemporary classic from this talented sista.

Detailed, methodical book about movie production. Great for a handbook/manual which I can refer to again and again. Quite useful and I highly recommend it. The appendices are simply brilliant (detailed pro forma financial statements, sample contracts and other essential docs).

The authors TRIED to spice up the text with an anecdote here and there, but it still reads somewhat like a textbook. Thus, buy the book if you're looking for real content, not juice.

This is one of the best books I have read in the industry and I own MANY . It is direct straight to the point and informative . I highly recommend

If the Midwest Review reports that Murrieta received prejudice because of his color--and they got that info from the book, then there's something wrong with that "impeccable research," as Frank F. Latta has documented thoroughly that Joaquin was a tall, light-eyed, light haired blond called "Huero." He came from a very large and fairly well off family from a town in Sonora. Okay, okay, I'll read it and get back to you!

This book is a delight. It would make a great movie. I started it yesterday and couldn't put it down until I finished it -- at three o'clock this morning.

This was a very exciting time on the planet, a time of discovery. Gwaltney takes on an exciting journey through the eyes of a disadvantaged, rebellious and talented minority who rises from obscurity to grab his rightful share of riches. A story well told by a masterful writer.

Death Line is a great book. It has alot of action and suspense, which are factors that Don Pendleton fans come expect in his books. Death Line is book three of the Border Fire Trilogy. Someone can read this book and understand it without reading the first two. Don Pendleton reviews somewhat of what has happened in the first two books at some parts in this third book. Why did i give this book a four put of five?

I bought this book while thinking it had methods and techniques for freelancers to promote their work.
It turned out to be addressed at people whose job is "sales" at larger design firms. In other words, this is a book for salespeople, not a book for designers.
It has some useful techniques inside, but it's certainly not the stuff designers would like to do (like cold calling).

The business of graphic design has changed drastically in the last few years and many of us feel we are looking at a locked door without any keys. Don Sparkman's 2nd edition takes a practical and step-by-step approach to giving you those keys to selling your design services. Whether you have been in business two minutes or twenty years, you need the current protocols for getting clients to hire you because the old ones don't work anymore! Pay attention to turning cold calls into warm calls in Chapter 3, "other elements" in Chapter 8 and every word of Chapter 11.

Selling Graphic Design was a recommended read in a national industry newsletter that I subscribe to. The credibility for the book was already "5 stars" in my mind due to the fact that this newsletter has saved me many, many hours of wasted production and research time which ultimately turns in to $$. I picked up the book and was fascinated with the information that was covered. Again, I looked at what I paid for the book and felt like I got the bargain of the year! Not only are business issues covered in this book, but a lot of graphic and printing basics that we all need to be reminded of now and then. The volume of resources provided to the user is beyond words. Thanks Mr. Sparkman for writing such a great motivational and great reference tool that we all can understand and relate to.
